I would like to be able to access Bioshock Infinite via steam but I prefer a physical copy for looks/collection purposes.

I think nowadays you do, but if you don't there should be an option in steam to add retail games.

Depends on if it is a Steamworks game or not.

i bought it retail and i had to activate it on steam.

No matter where you buy it, all copies use steam. It is a steamworks title.

Yeah, most games these days require you to activate on steam anyway even if you have a retail copy
