I love the new releases segment of the bombcast, but I would be willing to sacrifice some new release segment time for more emails. It's one of the best parts of the show, in my opinion. Am I wrong in wanting more emails? It just seems to be the section to get shafted because it is the last segment.
I've had one email read on the bombcast and it made me feel like I won a contest or something. I want more people to share in the email joy.
Anyone Want More Emails?
If I'm not mistaken, the Bombcast had an all E-mail show edition December of last year due to no news, new releases, and it being the last week of 2009. It was actually a pretty good two hours.
I still maintain that "New Releases" is a waste of time and talent. While I appreciate Jeff's vocal prowess, I could scarcely believe if anyone is genuinely interested in hearing about new releases, since that information is so easily accessible elsewhere. For that matter, who the hell actually owns a DSi?
E-mails, on the other hand, have the potential to be revelatory (e.g. Jeff's anecdote on the subject of Paradise Pizza); they're typically most interesting when they don't actually pertain to video games, I've noticed. Ultimately, more e-mails could be great if the guys are willing to scrap New Releases altogether.
I really just like to hear them talk about random stuff. Besides "Whacha' Been Playing," Emails is my favorite part.
" I want less crap emails like "what's your favorite burger?" and more emails on their opinions on different real life situations.I agree. The emails that stir up a conversation, be it serious or just joke-ish, I enjoy them immensely. Hearing them answer "Yes" and then move on isn't that fun, but then again, it all depends on what emails they've received.
I think that realistically, the amount of e-mails sent far outnumbers the time they have. Even if they did a 3 hour one of nonstop emails, they wouldn't even get close to clearing out the ones from that week alone. It's a nice idea, but I just don't think it'd work out in real life.
No because im pretty sure they wade through acres of shit to find a couple of suitable ones to read on the show.
I dunno. Emails are sometimes fun, but I think the time devoted to emails in the Bombcast is probably time enough. The crew does a good job prioritizing what's really important (that is, their opinions on the stuff they've played and their thoughts on topical issues in the gaming community).
