Hey guys, I was listening to the recent Bombcast on the bus, when this particular moment kept me laughing for a good couple of minutes out loud. I demand more WIll Smith!

#2 Posted by Animasta (14820 posts) -

Will "Verlin" Smith is the best, fuck the haters.

#3 Edited by Ravenlight (8057 posts) -

I'm with Will on this one. However the pronunciation rarely comes up because I usually just say "E-X-E" to save syllables.

I heard this on the podcast just minutes ago! Made me laugh, hard. ^^

The best part of this was just how incredulous Ryan was about Will's pronounciation. He loves playing with funny pronounciations of words (sword and robot being key examples), but other people's different and unironic pronounciations seems to really crack him up.

I don't see a problem with how will pronounces it

#7 Posted by captain_clayman (3349 posts) -

it seems fine to me.  however, i usually just say EXE

#8 Posted by ShaggE (7174 posts) -

I always say "exe" (pronounced like the letters "X" and "E"), which gets some weird looks as well. Not as weird as Will surely gets, though.

Says Patrick who says the verb form of attribute when he is talking about the noun... Also Brad's comment made me laugh.

A-Soos is the correct pronunciation of Asus.

#11 Posted by Video_Game_King (36566 posts) -

It's based off "execute", not "executive", so Ryan wins this argument.

#12 Posted by hwy_61 (1033 posts) -

Somebody needs to make one of those YouTube videos with the alternating animated Giant Bomb staff PRONTO!

I have always said A-SUS. A-soos is too weird for me to start saying.

#14 Posted by prestonhedges (1961 posts) -

Someone ask Ryan to say "sword" or Patrick to say "attribute".

#15 Posted by Brendan (8758 posts) -

Ryan reminded me of Matt Kessler a lot in this clip.

#16 Posted by ThatFrood (3460 posts) -

I like how you can see right at time 24s how the wavelength suddenly gets real wide when Ryan starts shouting at Will.

#17 Posted by MetalGearSunny (7465 posts) -

That was great.

I love how Ryan has a lisp when he says "That's not a WOOOOORRRRDDD!!!!"

#20 Posted by Rapid (1455 posts) -

I picture Ryan rage facing

"Is he secret britsh?"

#21 Posted by Dtat (1708 posts) -

what the fuck are you SAYYYYYYYYING?!?!?!?????!!!!

#22 Posted by Demoskinos (16320 posts) -

This cast is so fucking great.  I've listened to it twice already.  I do miss vinny but Will  brought the awesome.

#23 Posted by Subjugation (4786 posts) -

This part of the bombcast had me laughing out loud for real. Executable (eks-uh-kyoot-uh-bull Will) as in executing a command or process. Ryan wins.

#24 Edited by Akyho (1818 posts) -

E.X.E Stands for Executable from the word Execute to

1.tocarryout;accomplish:toexecuteaplanororder.

2.toperformordo:toexecuteamaneuver;toexecuteagymnasticfeat.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/execute

An Executable is somthing that lets you Execute.

The way Will says it sounds like more like Executive and give a diffrent meaning to people who dont say Executable as you would say Execute.

I say both are fine - see the Executor in Star Wars, which I'm fairly sure was named that because it was a fucking Super Star Destroyer that wastes fools, and not involved in contracts and wills.

Great episode though, hilarious.

No, actually... an executor is someone who carries out wills. An executioner wastes fools.

I get that.

What I'm saying is that the massive deadly space ship being called Executor means that I'm cool with Will pronouncing it that way.

Eggsecutor. EGGSECUTOR!

#32 Posted by W0lfbl1tzers (1789 posts) -

Dammit. I've said it so many times the word has lost all meaning. Fuck you guys.

#33 Posted by NostalgicShakedown (156 posts) -

The best bit was when Ryan was going high pitched on the word: Exe"cu"table XD

Pretty tired of people talking about him, care to explain how he's "pretentious"? Seems like a normal guy to me, if not just younger than the others.

Is it not Verlan? Unless his grandpappy was French.

Why not just call it an .exе́ file?

Almost went off the road while listening to this, what a great moment!!!

Yeah but that's from a man who can't pronounce Sword, Robot, Batman, or Spiderman. Yes deliberately, but then you lose the right to argue pronunciations in my books.

#40 Posted by Little_Socrates (5834 posts) -

I have laughed out loud at this part of the bombcast, like, 3 times.

#41 Posted by FengShuiGod (1516 posts) -

Ryan and Patrick, the last two dudes on Earth who should be harping on someone else. Poor Will.

It is in certain cases, this being the one. You can pronounce words like a goofball and expect perfect english from other people, that's a double standard.

The fuck does Ryan mean is he secret british? We say the word correctly, Will is just saying the word weird. Although Ryan is always saying things really fucking weird. Like instead of pronouncing kamehameha properly he says ka mayer mayer. Hypocrite.

It would seem that if your name is Will Smith, you cannot pronounce words.

"Welcome to Earf!"

Take a second and check your OED.

#50 Posted by Video_Game_King (36566 posts) -

@whistlebottom:

No luck there. I checked Wiktionary, and here's what I got for the first definition:

Capable of being executed

Therefore, I win.
