No NDX this week?

Here is my theory

NDX started as a huge joke, it was just a podcast to discuss the crap that comes out on Wiiware and Dsiware. The problem now is that that joke is kinda played, it's not as funny anymore, and when the 3DS comes out with all of these Gameboy games there going to be good, so it won't be as funny there either. I think Jeff regrets making it now because he can't easily just say "I'm not doing them anymore". I'd also imange that when the E Shop opens the Nintendo related material will be back on the Giant Bomb Podcast leaving no reason for the NDX.

The train will always roll on in my heart.

Forget the NDX and spend that time playing an Endurance Run.

I know saying so is taboo, but holy hell, it's my favorite site feature by far, and it's been far too long.

Damn, I wanted to get into that costume party car and dress up like a gorilla mail man... And some pancakes in that kitchen car... and listen to some sweet sweet nintendown low... d!

This is what Jeff said on Formspring.

"  It was originally conceived as something with a lot more guest spots and opportunities for bad character work, but schedules have changed, putting that dream a little out of reach. Not sure what to do with it from here, and with E3 coming up, it's hard to find the time to come up with ideas to keep it fresh. Figured I'd take a bit of a break, rather than just churning it out as-is. We'll see. I'm sure it'll pick back up again once there's more eShop stuff to talk about."

:( I was excited to hear Jeff go on about MDK 2 and Beam Dog today.

I don't think we'll ever see an endurance run. With the guys in a bigger office I don't think it's feasible to have them play a game for hours on end. When they were in their own little basement yeah they could do whatever but now I think all we'll see in terms of long gameplay videos are quicklooks.

If I had to choose between NDX or I Love Mondays for regularly scheduled Monday content, I'd choose I Love Mondays.

Aww... while I do hope it comes back, it was becoming a little.. ehh. Jeff's completely oblivious character on the show was becoming pretty dicey and a little cringe-worthy.

#212 Posted by Doctorchimp (4074 posts) -

Does anybody have a link to where I can get the shows?

I missed a few shows. Like Ryan's guest appearance.

I feel that Jeff watched something like this when he was younger and the idea lay dormant in his mind.

This is probably more relevant...
#222 Posted by Daveyo520 (6679 posts) -
@Vegsen: it has. Did no one read what I posted? Jeff has said it is not happening for a while if at all again.

I found the train you guys, it's ~5:30 minutes in  :

Jeff has said that they will never do an Endurance Run simply because people demand one.

I was just playing some downloadable games on my Wii, and thinking, "In thirty years, this console and controller is going to seem so insane. Numbchucks? Disk-based games? No one will believe me when I tell them about it. And then I started thinking, what will YOU, conductor Jeff,  be doing in thirty years? And will the download hobos still be riding the Xpress rails?

#227 Posted by PolishHill (37 posts) -

A bummer but it honestly felt inevitable from the start.  Its a fun show, and I always welcome more GB content, but if it detracts from Jeff's actual work it isn't worth keeping around.  I'm sure whenever downloadable injustice rears its ugly head the train will scream into the station with a fresh new locomotive.

#228 Posted by SaturdayNightSpecials (2368 posts) -

I understand the motivation to quit, but I really hope we at least get a farewell show to close it out, when the eShop opens.

#229 Posted by Winternet (8014 posts) -

I'm now surrounded by darkness. I hear the whistle, but is it really there or is it only in my mind? I follow it blindly. I feel closer to the abyss, but I keep marching on. I fall. I never cease to fall.

That's why I said I know it's taboo.

I find it odd that a website would actively avoid giving its viewership something they obviously want. Not talking about it obviously isn't getting one here faster, so I thought I'd mention how much I'd like to see them waste their time doing something entertaining, which, to me, the NDX probably stopped being a few episodes in after the joke wore thin. It sounds like Jeff agrees.

But that's the last time I'll ever mention the ER on this site again. I don't want to sound like the leagues of people demanding one. I just needed a place to put that out there.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

#233 Posted by MarthRingman (3 posts) -

Does this mean they will add Downloadable Games for Nintendo Platforms back to the Giant Bombcast? I miss hearing about the train wrecks (pun not intended) of games such as Paul's Shooting Adventure, and Learning with the PooYoos.

This station is getting rusty.

#236 Posted by ThePantheon (723 posts) -

I keep listening to the NDX episode with The Ricker over and over to satiate my NDX withdrawal.

Sigh I miss you NDX

#237 Posted by bartok (2465 posts) -

Jeff should do NDX while he does an Endurance Run.   No offense but as fun as Endurance Runs are to watch I bet they are a bitch to make and very time consuming.

#238 Posted by mnzy (2914 posts) -
@bartok: What Endurance Run?

I was expecting something when the eShop launched, but that doesn't happen for five more days. Wonder what this "emergency transmission" is.
