Yeah they're going to be adding advertising soon enough

I hope they integrate the advertising so it doesn't mess up the page setup, I really like the layout the way it is now.

Yeah, that would suck. I just hope they don't get stuck with that ad company that apparently tries to control what content ends up on the site. That is so not cool!

They just all work at a car company part time to get the cashflow. If you ask them which car company they're just gonna tell you that it's a major one...

Ad revenue will help with running the site, and also they may start accepting donations if they already haven't done so.
If they have a paypal account for donations I don't know about it.  If they do someone tell me I will definitely donate some money.

I wonder if they will only rely on ad's or if they will allow people to pay for a membership. Although I could see them being against the idea of exclusive content for paying members.

Yeah.  Just think of it as a Taco Bell, only with more emphasis on...tacos.

Hustlin'

#36 Posted by SonicFire (875 posts) -

I have to wonder, they've even said that they're in a position to walk away from advertisers that they don't want t work with, so they must be sitting pretty. All things considered though, its the users who are going to be making this database fly, so that's pretty exciting in and of itself.

A few bank heists and they sold rights to a Luchadeer movie to Michael Bay.

Nay!
#44 Posted by Jay (3 posts) -

They must have some secret investors or something.

Remember when they started buying all that stuff when they were just starting out...flat inch tv's, consoles, hdmi cables, podcasting h/w..they must've spent thousands in a day.

I'm pretty sure I heard them say that they wouldn't be accepting any donations nor implementing a subscription-based system.
#46 Posted by ReTarDedFisHy (1088 posts) -

Haven't really thought about it yet, probably through investments, and soon to be advertisements.

#47 Posted by Megalon (1457 posts) -

I think in a bombcast awhile back they said there would be no "subscription" stuff, everything would be ad-based. And since the site is in beta they can't really be charging for ads just yet.

So I imagine they're currently making money via pyramid schemes. It's really the only way that makes sense.

#48 Posted by p4ddym1607 (1061 posts) -

They must have got a loan or someone invested. I wish they would tell us. It is interesting

#49 Edited by ThePelinal (122 posts) -

Site's actually a giant pyramid scheme.

Edit: Just realized someone beat me to that joke.  :'-(

While we're busy submitting, they're stealing our wallets through the internet...
either that or they're going to accept submissions based on the highest bidder
