Should the Bombcast be edited?
Kinda, but I also don't really want stuff cut out. I understand why they cut out that Resident Evil stuff the other week, but on the other hand I'd love listening to it.
They have to edit it, sometimes they talk about stuff they aren't allowed to talk about yet. But I would like a less edited bombcast.
@skyline7284: Seems to be your fault for a lack of clarity. Are you asking if they should just upload everything or asking if they should edit for time or asking if they should release some sort of child friendly version?
For me the whole appeal of the bombcast is that it's:
a) Longer than most other sites podcasts. It'll last a long train/car journey or you can listen to it in bits all week.
b) The unedited feel just feels more natural. I hate podcasts where people feel they can't go off topic for a bit.
I think they do a great job of keeping it interesting without making the format too rigid.
Honestly, whatever/however they've been doing it thus far is perfect. I pretty much never notice when they make any edits, and it wasnt until Ryan pointed it out this week that I realized they cut out the RE stuff.
I would have loved to listen to that, simply because I enjoy listening to them talk about pretty much anything, but I get why they cut it.
I wouldn't mind if they left in some of the more out-of-place stuff, or at least, not start cutting those out in favor of strictly on-topic discussion.
Like one of the recent podcasts, where a spider on the wall was freaking out Brad, and the discussion was to kill it or not.
Bits like that make the podcast for me.

It already is.
Right, but that's not the question.
"Should the Bombcast be edited?"
I'm a bit confused here.
Edit: nvm I got what you meant, probably could have phrased it better.
no but i understand why it is. But im SURE the majority of the userbase would want as much bombcast as possible

Sometimes you say things you're not meant to and you're forever thankful it wasn't aired live. Instead of scrapping the recording entirely, they should edit it. What a dumb poll.
im pretty sure its concerning stuff like the RE series talk being cut because the bombcast was already 3 hours long, not editing out mistakes. But hey, being an ass is awesome, i understand
never, and i mean never change how the bombcast is currently run and how long it goes i love me some bantering and talking of games and just general all around crazy shit
the only thing I would edit out is the trackmania conversations. But then there wouldn't have been a podcast lately. :-P
Yeah, I think we all know why it's edited. For cutting the fat and preventing spoilers, which are good things, but as fans who love listening to dudes talk about video games and random stuff, we would like to hear all of the stuff. I think Ryan knows what to cut, he knows if it's funny or not, but I wouldn't have minded some discussion of RE4. Also where would we be without some off topic conversation.

Pretty much. I'd like to think that Ryan knows what's up and the stuff getting cut isn't particularly interesting anyway, but at the same time, I'd really like to hear that stuff. Maybe they should put some of the cutting room floor stuff up for subscribers.
I don't know why Ryan says "I'd like to take another email but we're out of time"... You're not on broadcast, you're not eating into another show's time. No one was angry that the E3 bombcasts went 4 hours. The only time limit is Brad's ferry, the only reason to be cutting is extreme quality concerns.
Secretly, I think the reason they cut the Resident Evil discussion is no one there has a decent knowledge base (or solid memory) of Resident Evil history, and whatever discussion there was would've got people upset with the errors. And maybe that's for the best?
I said never because I hate it when they cut conversations out. It drove me nuts when I heard Ryan edited the RE discussion out. I mean, half of them actually wanted it to be heard so it couldn't have been THAT bad. I don't care how tangential or long the discussion is, I want to hear it. Remember the G.I Joe tangent they went on a while back? It was fucking awesome.
However, I am glad that Ryan edits "dead air" and things of that nature out of it. When it comes to that, it just makes for a more enjoyable listening experience.
