The Beast Cast is totally epic!

The first episode (well 0) was bloody brilliant, I totally missed hearing Vinnie Vinny at such length and Alex was great too, a great guest with Jeff and I'm now subscribed to only 2 podcasts! Giant Bomb woo!

I done this as a little Sunday afternoon downtime, here's to a million more podcasts!

Oh also as a little bonus for you art fans out there, I also recorded my process from start to finish! it's a bit low quality though but you get the picture. Pun intended.

I listened to it the whole way through, which is more than I can say for many of the bombcasts lately. Vinny is basically one of the few remaining sources of entertainment for me on the site, so I'm happy he's back to podcasting again. The guest they had on was a good fit too, and I like the idea of them consistently mixing it up with new people popping in.

@yummylee: honestly I only started listening to the Bombcast a few months ago, I was just never into podcasts even though i've been on the site for years. I dove in head first when I hit a wall with picking music to listen to at work and just loved the run it's been on recently. I'm a big fan of the team the currently have on it, I actually really love when Jason's on it, he has a super cool demeanor. But I always missed Vinny, he just cracks everyone around him up and it makes for great listening so i'm glad they got this set up, here's too many more.

What do you use to record timelapse stuff like that?

I like watching artists make multiple attempts at drawing a single line. I used to watch Katie Tiedrich's streams of her inking Awkward Zombie and she did that a lot. Watching someone erase stuff on different layers is also very satisfying.

@eccentrix: I used Manga Studio and Photoshop for this, then Camtasia 7 to record the whole thing, just wish I coulda got it in higher quality. I always find it a nice way to see artists processes so I figured why not show someone mine! I make a lot of changes and erase stuff all the time too. Yeah I love erasing stuff on multiple layers, it's magical.

Man, Alex was really alive on it! Him and Vinny have great chemistry. I was a bit skeptical about how great the two would pair up on a podcast, but everything was just flowing perfectly the whole way through.

Great picture, @cosmicbacon ! Perhaps try using OBS for capture? It's free, pretty easy to use and depending on your machine's ability, you could get a very nice quality recording.

it is unlikely that they will do a million more episodes, because even if they never missed a week that would be over 19,000 years, and Vinny said on the podcast that he wants to transition to a behind-the-scenes role by year 2,000.

Vinny is god and I love him, so glad to have him on a podcast again, I kind of don't care about the normal podcast lately so this is great news.

I've missed Vinny, but no more!

I wish I could art. Bought a tablet to facilitate it, but I'm really bad. What you did in the first 30 seconds of that video surpasses anything I've done.

If you're doing a timelapse in the future, I recommend trying Chronolapse. It takes screenshots instead of recording a video which will save you a bunch of hard drive space and should be higher quality (the screenshots will be at your desktop resolution). The only downside is that the tool to turn the picutres into a video in Chronolapse compresses them horribly, so I'd recommend using some other software to render it out as a video at full resolution still.

I was talking about both this and the Bombcast, so, that's only what, like 9,500 years worth of episodes each? No Problem!

@bollard The recording is fine with Camtasia, but I worry about file sizes too much and skimp out on the output to keep the size down, I'll make it a bit larger in the future and just bite the bullet with space.

Vinny's open-minded enthusiasm meshes well with Alex's mildly cynical, yet similarly expansive outlook. Plus, no trolling! Great stuff. Watch your asses, Cali.

Yeah, I noticed this as well he actually sounded comfortable, it was awesome. Way better than bombing the AM. Maybe some of it had to do with them doing the podcast over Skype or whatever but still, 1000% better now. Love it.

I really enjoyed it too and look forward to many more. Interesting guest dude imo. And anything Vinny is a treat...miss that duder.

I was glad to hear Bakkalar on another podcast. I've listened to the 404 since it started and never heard him be quite so fun and charming. Well, that's not quite right. The 404, at the beginning, got so out of hand that Cnet made them tone it down. It was after that, that the show got a little stiff. Still entertaining, but stiff.

It was fantastic, but it does sort of bum me out that they're going to, supposedly, have a rotation of guests. I tend not to like podcasts where guests are prominently and regularly featured so I can only hope it doesn't impact my enjoyment. We'll see. Bakkalar turned out to be pretty good, I guess, so I'll be optimistic.
