I got bored last night and decided to make what I would consider the first tier of Kickstarter Backers rewards for Vinny's future magnet powered handtruck arcade cabinet/pinball machine moving system: a sweet (backers only, of course) tshirt that you can proudly wear to show your support in this scientific endeavor. What do you guys think? Would this $15 reward incentivise you to drop down big bucks to fuel the dream of a mad man?
The VinnCo. Mark III Maglift System Tshirt Design
I'd buy that shirt, it looks awesome! But why is the arcade cab on on the hand truck if it's supposed to be mag-lifted?
it's an acronym.

It's hovering a couple of inches above the hand truck, but not actually sitting on it, like they described on the podcast; the shirt's just replicating Vinny's idea.
Edit: Kind of forgot to say: I really like the design! I'd definitely buy the shirt if they sold it. I'm pretty impressed with how well it replicates that sort of small company, employee 'uniform' sort of style.

Ah I get it now. I never really understood what he was proposing, the whole podcast I was just thinking "Just put those magnets on the floor! AAAARRRGH!"

Bingo. But thanks guys, I appreciate all of the positive feedback!

Yeah, no worries duder. Until Vinny specifically said it would only be an inch or two above the cart, I was imagining the cabinet floating a couple of feet up and being held above the cart with straps, so it seems like it'd be pretty easy to misinterpret what he was trying to explain.
Great look though you might want to make the Earthshaker machine with some generic name just on the off chance of the owners not liking it, could just switch it to Mars or another planet. Rest of it is stellar, definitely makes me regret not getting in on the kickstarter for Mark I so will have to wait for it to go out to retail to get one. Course if the holo vid commercial jingle is catchy, I might just get one now :P
Just love Jeff diving back into this idea in the latest quick look.
Looks like a good earner. Boom. ;) I feel like part of an exclusive club who recognises that silhouette instantly as a pin.
The standard abbreviation for established is by far "EST." without the D.
What is this Detroit bullshit, it should say "made in italia" or San Francisco atleast. Good job though.
The entire design is a few layers of meta deep. On last weeks Bombcast Vinny made the joke to Jeff about in 2087 after VinnCo. received it's initial funding from Kickstarter, they started to produce units and also bought Detroit. This is where those two elements come from.

I was going to create a generic spinoff logo based on the Earthshaker font, but figured this was mostly a proof of concept more than anything. If anyone really did want to make this design a reality, I'd go back and make the simple change to make sure it's not violating any copyright laws.

There actually isn't any correct form of abbreviating established. For example, I've seen it abbreviated as weird as "EST'B'D." But I agree, EST. looks better and is more of a current abbreviation, I just wanted to visually balance it with 2087 (4 characters each and all).
Hope this clears up a bunch of head-scratchers about the actual design you guys have had, and once again I really appreciate all of the positive (and negative) feedback. Staying up real late on a work night now seems to have been totally worth it, haha
@brianfolchetti: I'd buy that for a dollar!....or for like $15-20...
@brianfolchetti: Okie dokey. If you'd like implicit permission to drop the period entirely, you could say you're following Oxford University's style guide. :)

I think it looks awesome (although would change Detroit to New Jersey where Vinny is from - I mean in 2087 Detroit will probably have been turned into America's first Mega Strip Mall) but I would definitely add some exaggerated magnets or tesla coil looking things onto that hand truck. It's just that for a futuristic system it looks like a regular ol' hand cart!
Love it. Also, I've had a similarly impractical ideas involving magnets, so this is all a little extra awesome.
This is pretty great, if anything I would absolutely fund this shirt (and by fund... I mean purchase).

The thing about info graphics is that they're very explicit - for example, the wheelchair symbol has a man sitting in a wheelchair, but he is technically "levitating" so as to show that they're two separate entities. It'd work better if there were blocks on the handtruck to show there were magnets on it.
@humanity: Long Island is New York, not New Jersey. But I agree with your general idea.
