I have to wonder, they've even said that they're in a position to walk away from advertisers that they don't want t work with, so they must be sitting pretty. All things considered though, its the users who are going to be making this database fly, so that's pretty exciting in and of itself.

Remember when they started buying all that stuff when they were just starting out...flat inch tv's, consoles, hdmi cables, podcasting h/w..they must've spent thousands in a day.

I think in a bombcast awhile back they said there would be no "subscription" stuff, everything would be ad-based. And since the site is in beta they can't really be charging for ads just yet.

So I imagine they're currently making money via pyramid schemes. It's really the only way that makes sense.

well i am sure it costs a TON of money to run a site that being made by the users for free. so a god enough amount to pay the team to take care of their needs while they worked to create all of this wouldnt be too much, and of course as soon as the adds kick in its golden. and whats cool is that they said they will be handling adds very well, they say theyre only going to allow people to put adds on here who have stuff that relates to videogames and such only. and as far as the way they'll be using the adds, i think they'll just put a banner beneath where it says "new realeases, games, browse etc." and maybe a panel on the side too. i just hope, because this site has so much to do on it, they dont allow any of those super annoying adds that expand and take up the whole web page. theyre so annoying and just a cheap way of getting around pop up blockers.
