Notifications update

Hey guys,

We just pushed out some changes to the underlying ways in which notifications happen on the site. There shouldn't be any obvious changes, but if you see anything crazy, please let us know here.

@yojimbo: You're a test.

@mrpibb: My notification counter in the top right went up one from that reply, but nothing new appeared in the drop down. The notifications page does however show it.

Note that notifications for other users' new blog posts should work now...

@mrpibb: @demoskinos: The dropdown does seem to be working now. It just might take a bit longer to update than the notification count.
