Site Update Earlier Today - problems expected

This was an hour ago.

Sir's last tweet says "everything looks fine" which, judging by the waves of topics happening right now... er... is a slight exaggeration... but Top Men are on it, no doubt.

Sorry to post this thread, not really my place I guess, but thought it might be helpful for those without Twitter wondering what happened.

I think if you have specific bugs you should still start threads about them or find related threads.

the site stability is ok right now which was my first worry. We're pushing out fixes every 15-20 min for bugs as they come through (some of them weren't caught with regression or just with eyes too used to how the site looked w/ the new setup).

Embiggen is working for me

Site is definitely stable on my end, just some small UI bugs and failures with the search engine. Seems that pages added recently may not turn up in the search, but just a guess at this point. Thanks for the good work! :D

@mrpibb I feel like it might've made sense to pin a thread like this on the forums today, instead of everybody freaking out over font size changes and video players not working and so on. Not everybody follows the CBSi engineering team on Twitter (where I wildly assume this update was announced).

In the Bug Reporting section it's pinned, but in the forum wide section it's not.

Embiggen not working for me :(

Resume is not working for me.

When resizing video player from full screen to normal window the actual window doesnt resize. it stays the same size ( a large % of it outside of the browser window )

Browser - Firefox

System - Windows 7

Embiggen doesn't work for me. Also when I hover over options all of the options are missing their first 3 letters, so I see 'icles','casts',iews','epolis','eos','um boards' etc

Also, if I search companies: sega => nothing gets listed in drop down

On your 'friends feed', user-names are no longer linked like they used to be. I hope that's not a permanent change, as I found it made for a quick and easy method to then pop over onto a user's page and see what else they've been getting up to.

@secondheartbeat: The new video player doesn't have the resume code in place yet. It's on my todo list to add that feature back in, pending any other fixes I need to make for the wysiwyg first.

@mrpibb, @Tsubomi: the weirdest things happening to me:

• can't find Hoplite (game) when I search for it (http://www.giantbomb.com/hoplite/3030-45184/) either in main search or Insert Link search
• get a 500 when I click "Add a Review" on the Hoplite page
• can't find Marcellus (Character) when I search for it
• clicking on any notification under the Red Flag takes me to the game, not the thread about the game
• oh! and for some reason my Review Average is down to 1.82 when it should be higher. I saw in another thread (Aboud CoD3 review) Mr. Pibb said it had to with converting games to the 100 point scale. I'm repeating this information for a good reason, I swear. O.O

Chrome on Win7. Sorry for the trouble and thanks! Since I created both these pages (Hoplite, Marcellus) within the last month my guess would be something wonky happening with pages created < a month ago. But you probably know this... or.. the real truth! :D

The notifications for games are being worked on, we know the thread info isn't there right now.

Reviews aggregatin will be reset tomorrow, so your 1.82 will be higher

I was literally changing every display setting in my browser trying to figure out what happened! Totally missed the update notification.

Idk if this has been reported yet but I got a notification saying I was mentioned in a comment, but when I click it, it doesn't take me to the comment, it takes me to the page of the game that the topic with the comment is in.

@hunter5024: yup, this is a known issue. We're working on a fix.

Not sure if this is a bug or is intended at the moment, the main page is not showing the twitter feeds or the latest forum activity.

user reviews should now be working!

@mrpibb: awesome, thanks! sorry I know a lot of bugs get repeated over and over again, hard to know sometimes if it's been brought up before. kinda wish there was a google doc/chart built into the site for bug reporting

A big issue that I'm seeing right now is that you can't edit the first post in any thread that's attached to a wiki page's forum (game, platform, etc). If it's a thread on one of the independent main forums (General Discussion, Off-Topic, Bug Reporting, etc), the edit option is still available and working.

I'm missing staff comments (twitter I guess) and the front page forum threads.

The activity feeds on the profile page are now showing full post contents including quotes and video embeds.

On the mod side of things, locking threads is automatically bumping them up to the top of the forum feed.

Well I'll throw out there the one thing I've experienced: Just tried to add some DLC and got absolutely nothing when trying to submit, no 404 page or anything.

I added a user review to a page: after composing the text I hit "Add Review". I got a 404. Then I hit refresh. The review was added properly to the game.

Search is being actively worked on, we had to rebuild our index so sorry about the issues. @jslack went home at 4am this morning, so hopefully he's run off the index and we'll catch up soon.

We'll look at the thread edits and locks asap.

@icytower38: what game and dlc did you try to modify?

@geraltitude: which game? it's possible we have some db lag between our master and slaves, but i'll look into it.

@mrpibb: I tried to add episode 2 & the season pass for The Wolf Among Us. On a side note, when I tried to add the publisher/developer, I was getting nothing until I fully spelled out Telltale Games. I did not try to add any other games, or modify anything that exists.

Let me also just add that I did not receive any kind of notification about your response. Figured that since you're here I'd add that just in case.

It was for Hoplite - the review stuck, but it was a little scary getting the 404 after posting it. Just had to refresh.

PS. I'm not getting notifications, but probably this is a known issue.

@mrpibbHello .... er I got mentioned on a forum post about Alice madness returns but when I cliked on it instead of taking me to the forum post it took me to the wiki page instead.

I noticed a couple of things while trying to work on some wiki pages.

• I can't seem to add any credits without it erroring out.
• Also when I am trying to search for concepts and such I have to type the entire thing or it won't find anything at all, and have had some problems even then.
• EDIT - Also noticed that when I go to the top users list there are a lot of people missing from that first page. Edit again, just noticed it is all moderators now haha.

I can't find games via the search bar. When i type the name of the game it just brings up any article or video linked to it.

So I had a Cheap Concepts thread going which everyone disagreed with so hard core (lol my bad, sorry y'all) it just got locked without warning - but, I can still Full Edit the thread, which bumps it to the top. Not sure if this functionality is supposed to be here but it seems like it shouldn't. calling @zombiepie just so you know I wasn't bumping that thread for kicks!
