Since all browsers seem to want to move away from flash now, when is giant bomb going to migrate it's premium videos?

My macbook pro (13" 2015 i7) apparently can't handle the video decoding flash that well in Chrome, and gets super hot after only 5mins. Safari handled it well, without even turning on the fans. But Apple's turned off flash video in Safari now altogether it seems.

If anyone has a quick fix to the video decoding issue in Chrome, i'd be very grateful. I'm not afraid to mess around with the hidden/experimental settings if needed.

@guanophobic: that's just the latest UPF, don't think Drew had time to get the 'proper' versions up so he got the archive of the stream up quick instead. Other premium videos should have HTML5 as an option.

Sure, i missed the video note further down the page. But both safari and firefox have moved away from flash entirely.

Giant bomb should update their pipeline aswell.

i'm not just talking about this specific video though. Flash shouldn't be their first/easiest to churn out from the livestreams anymore.

I totally get why it could be, as the livestreams are in flash themselves. And that shouldn't be the case anymore either.

A simple "we're working on it" or "here's why it's gonna take some time" would suffice for me.

@guanophobic: They are working on it but it's unknown when the video player will be updated.

There is one weird trick for live streams without Flash:

Open the site in Edge on Win 10

Open the console (F12)

Emulation

Pick Microsoft Edge on Windows Phone as the User Agent

Refresh and play the video

@un_jefferson: Yes, and these are the only two desktop browsers that support HLS natively.

The chat should still work but the layout might be weird on desktop.

You can also do the same via Safari (you may need to enable the Developer menu option in Safari Preferences):

[Safari] -> Develop -> User Agent -> [set to iPad, iPhone, or iPod]

FYI, I do not believe the current HTML5/Mobile GB Player supports Chat.

Thanks for the help! :)
