Damn! That's a shame. I'll buy it anyway though. I love fable!
Man that whole hub world thing to change equipment really breaks it for me. seems a bit tedious and pace breaking. Fable seems like a series that constantly disappoints. =/
Off-topic: jeez guys, reviews are just opinions. If you usually agree with a reviewer than take their review into consideration. If you usually don't agree then read the review with a grain of salt, but no need to completely reject it.
Can't they just patch these technical issues? And if so, wouldn't this review be kind of misleading if, in the future, they do patch the issues?

No, I'm just curious about this. A lot of people seem to be complaining about this (even though 95% of them are just basing it off the review and haven't played it for themselves), so I'm just wondering if a patch could solve the bugs. I mean, thats one of the reasons patches exist, right?" @xyzygy said:

If the technical complaints are akin to jeffs complaining about Fallout: New Vegas's bugs, then I think I will bite the bullet.
Sad, but totally what i expected. The franchise has been getting worse with time. I might rent it to experience the good bits, but I really didn't like Fable 2 beyond the charm, so who knows.
Marquee holiday title (of an establish franchise) gets taken down a notch. I am a bit surprised since I thought Fable 2 was very unique for what it tried to do in the console RPG space. Sad to hear Lionhead has continued to ignore its UI designers, or simply does not hire the good ones.
Anyway, good of an excuse as any for gamers to take a chance of some new IP this season.
I love how people are commenting on a review without playing the game.
Ultimately a review is a single person's opinion of a game so don't let it spoil the enjoyment you get from the title. One thing about Fable II. and Fable III is that I always thing that some of the humour must be missed by non Brits. The use of British local accents to increase the humour e.g. the glaswegian gargoyles must be missed.
I managed to get fable III early yesterday and it is a good game. So far for me it feels, quality wise, to be similar to Fable II. 3/5, or the 6/10 that this really equates to is slightly harsh and just another example of why I wish the guys would use a 10 point system for their reviews. The 5 pointer is the only thing I don't like about the site.
Man, that's a shame. Molyneaux's idea of making things simple and intuitive often has the opposite result from my experiences, and it seems like that was certainly the case here. I'll wait until a few more reviews drop though
Fable's good features bogged down by weird design decisions? Who would have thought?! Not like that's new for the series. Granted, I was hoping they'd try harder not to do that this time but...looks like they didn't.
And before someone lumps me in with "OMG I HAET IT BECAUSE OF >ONE REVIEW< OMG." accusations... I want to like Fable games, I really do. But I just can't and I was hoping this would change things, but clearly it didn't. Brad had legitimate issues with the things I know for a fact would ruin the game for me, and I trust his opinion. I really like the charm of the games but at some point they just stop being fun to play and I don't bother finishing them. I don't think I'm even going to waste my time with this one. I'm not made out of money, so I'd rather spend that $60 or so on something I know I have a much larger chance of enjoying and finishing.

It's sad that I almost enjoy reading the comment wars beneath a review as much as finding out what the GB crew thought about a game. People who already decided whether they were or were not going to preorder a game arguing at one another. High comedy.
Making the interface more simplified yet more cumbersome seems pretty terrible. I always wonder how people can screw up something as simple, yet important, as interface in an RPG. It happens in so many games and is always terribly detrimental to the experience.
The narrative complaints I can see, though I recall Fable II also was packed with point of no return type moments that kind of jumped out at you, and strange parts that seemed disconnected.
Probably will wait for this one to drop in price, then maybe pick it up if I have extra time. I imagine the "Fable" label means it will go platinum sometime.
" Can't they just patch these technical issues? And if so, wouldn't this review be kind of misleading if, in the future, they do patch the issues? "Yes then can patch issues, but what do you want to happen? He is reviewing the game that is in front of him, not what it could potentially become. Use your brain before you start typing.
Isn't this always the best part of any review?" It's sad that I almost enjoy reading the comment wars beneath a review as much as finding out what the GB crew thought about a game. People who already decided whether they were or were not going to preorder a game arguing at one another. High comedy.
Hmm... I thought for sure this was gonna get a better score. Oh well, I will still buy it!
I still hope this comes to the PC, since Fable has me genuinely intrigued. Looks like it's not worth paying full price though.
I have played through th first 5 hours and so far i have enjoyed the game although i do agree with brad, i do feel rushed so far even before the game changing bit at the end, i feel lost in this world in comparison to fable 1 and 2, it feels abnormal. And yes there are definitely some major glitches like when your trying to do a job and it appears to lag so you miss all the button presses, this may be just my xbox (doubt it) but yeah i wish they would spend more time to polish the game...
Hm - unexpected, but a well presented argument nonetheless.
Thanks Brad - gives me something to mull over as I play through it (is installing right now - hope I don't get that fall-through-floor error).

I'll probably get it, but some of those new game mechanics sound annoying. Oh well, we'll see.
I find it baffling how many people are disagreeing with the review of a game based on other reviews of the same game. Are they trying to justify a pre-order or something? Do they not know how reviews work? You read them, and then you form your own opinion. This is why reviews should not have score systems, but always will.
Fable 2 was a really good game with some really endearing and really annoying quirks. With all the changes they were implementing it was clear #3 would be either the penultimate entry in the series or a mess. Sorry to see it seems like the latter. Will still pick this up, just not right away.
Oh shit! Three stars? Man! I was hoping this would get a better review than New Vegas, because, having played Fallout 3 and not really wanting a buggier one of those right now compared to having never played a Fable game, I could've really gone for one of these right now.
Laugh, Peter failed yet again to deliver.
I think it about time for him to go back and make another Dungeon Keeper, though I'm afraid he might fail at that too, with his over-the-top ideas, which sound nice in theory but fail in practice usually.
Is there any game being released these days that does NOT have major technical issues?
This series was at its best when it was called Project Ego. Interesting review nonetheless…
nice giantbomb 2nd lowest review score on metacritic... brad ur wrong babe it shouldve been a 4/5.
Not sure about picking this up, I love the humour and the setting but it doesn't sound particularly fun to play.

Very insightful review. Thanks Brad.
I can totally relate to many of the points you made. The hub level for managing stuff sounds awful and I hate it too when the player is pushed into an endgame from which there is no return without a warning beforehand.
