It really is a sad thing that someone who obviously loves MMO's missed out on Star Wars: Galaxies. The game will always live on as a Staple in my life, and really just offered what I hope more modern MMO's find themselves delivering. The game was simply one of the best if not just for it's tight-knit community.

I think balance was a big issue with WAR, both class balance and population balance. PvP became a game of "only attack when the other team's pop is low". There were also issues where the 'mirror' classes were too different from each other and didn't seem even remotely balance. I am a bit surprised, as you were, that it is failing so incredibly badly, though. I thought it was a pretty good game, with good ideas.

@TMThomsen: It did fail in allot of ways but did allot of things that were brilliant. Public quests and in world battlegrounds with siege weapons etc were the highlights.

It tried to imitate WoW, but turned out inferior in every way. 
 
Btw, why no WoW on your list? Seems weird to be heavy into MMOs and steer clear of the most successful one.

Maybe I will. :)  For the most part, the level progression was waaaaaaaaaaay too fast.  Within a month of totally casual play I'd basically almost maxed out my main character.  This is a bit pointless when you take into account that a MMO should be persistent over time, since that's how you get subscription fees. :)

What sort of bad design choices were you talking about for Star Trek?  I like your personal reflections on some of the entries, would be cool if you filled out more of them!
