@ashogo: I'll still recommend it as I would to anyone, but I'm not gonna lie to you and say it doesn't get pretty RPG-y at some points, though for the most part it serves a greater purpose in the insane story, that is to say, they're doing this same ol' RPG shit on purpose. Or at least I'd like to think so; it seems justified by the rest of the story. It can be a little stat-heavy at times though, if I remember right.
@BRINKTheMovieMyFavoriteMovie: wow, that does sound intriguing as hell. I have never really played any diablo-esque games before, but the uniqueness of the game really interests me. Unfortunately I've had a bit of a falling out with rpgs lately, so I'm not sure if I could sit through one at this point...
@ashogo: It's so so good. It was a Suda game (or at least his studio) and it was totally crazy, although in a way different way than Killer 7 or NMH. Diablo-style combat with a pretty surprising variety of weapons (and some weird-ass weapon types, if I remember correctly); ridiculous classes, some of them hidden, that you could switch between; mindfuck of a story that subscribed to the ICO/SOTC school of less-is-more all while bringing up issues of identity, relationship between player and the characters they're controlling, and all kinds of ridiculous fourth wall-breaking shit and not in a cheesy way. Seriously, the whole end section of this game fucking blew my mind and I played it a few times to totally get it and I probably still misinterpreted some of it.
I really can't recommend it enough, literally the only stumbling block would be if you absolutely can't stand Diabloesque point, tap, and wait combat. Personally I love that style so it just added to the experience for me. I hope it's still easy to find so you can experience it, I really do.
