Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games. 5 is top 15 for me in this gen.

The only other two RE games I have played besides two are 6 and REmake. 6 is bad or course and I did not care for REmake. Nothing about it stood out to me and I found it boring and kinda tedious. I quit after about 2 hours of playing. None of others interest me at all.

@yummylee: Yeah, man. I'm looking forward to Revelations in HD on my Xbox. It's gonna be pretty good, based on the reaction of fans to the announcement.

Vinny really gets around, doesn't he? :P And to your point about forgetting a memory card, I actually went about a whole year without one. So imagine me playing RE2 every time from scratch. I only once beat it in one playthrough.

I've only ever played snippets of RE4 and RE5 but watching my brother play RE2 and RE3 were some of the best video game memories I've had as a kid. I'd have to go with RE2 mainly because it was the first game in the series that I was exposed to.

Bah. Almost missed this. I think the first order of business after making the site stable is to bring back the tab that has recent blogs and statuses of people you're following. Do I really need to see what lists I've made on that right hand column? No. No I don't.

But thankfully, I did see this blog, and being that I am a pretty stupid huge fan of Resident Evil (albeit not nearly as stupid huge as @yummylee) , I can tell you that the REmake is probably my favorite of ye old skoole Resident Evil games, as emphasized in a list I made a while ago. I felt pretty awesome when I beat the game in under 3 hours to get the rocket launcher, and I also believe I beat Real Survivor as well. Never touched invisible mode though, I think that was probably my limit. As for the rest of the series, I think Zero is underrated, 2 is good albeit easy and Code Veronica is too long for its own good and does some things that really annoy me.

When it comes to my favourite Resident Evil game, my opinion is a pretty common one. In that it's always tied between RE2 and the remake. Though the remake is undoubtedly the better survival horror game (RE2 is far too easy, even if it makes up for it with its overall cinematic presence and story), RE2 is the childhood favourite, so it's tough to knock it down off the pedestal.

The remake is... just truly something else, though. It's easily one of the best games of the previous generation, if not one of the best horror games of all time. It still manages to effectively pull you into its atmosphere, after all this time -- and the amount of change that went into it when put against the original definitely allows it to stand as its own game. Unlike, say, MGS: Twin Snakes.

I will still stand by my assertion that the remake controls really well, too. Far as tank controls go, they're surprisingly smooth and, when speaking for the classic RE's, it's the best controlling RE game next to RE3. Which is why RE0's relative sluggishness surprises me, considering how incredibly alike they are from a general gameplay perspective.

So yeah, I wholly respect the remake as the best RE game in the series (across both old and new), but RE2 still stands as my personal favourite. You just can't compete against those childhood memories :P Plus I think remake was a little lacking in the goofy unlockables; I can understand that the remake is meant to be a much more serious and hardcore game (Real Survivor mode omgwtf) game than REs past, but... well, what it all comes down to is I'm pissed that they never thought up another weird unlockable minigame where you could finally play as Barry/Wesker :P. Sure, RE5 remedied that (and Veronica before it with Wesker), but I would have loved an RE3-esque Mercenaries game where you could play as all of the STARS members.

In any case, I've got pretty much everything to do with RE2 and RE3 in particular glued onto my brain I've played them so damn much over the years. As such, this is how I'd rank the overall series (excluding spin-offs):

1. Resident Evil 2.
2. Remake.
3. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
4. Resident Evil Zero
5. Resident Evil
6. Resident Evil 4
7. Resident Evil: Code: Veronica X
8. Resident Evil 5
9. .
10. .
11. .
12. Resident Evil 6.... That's right, I'm gonna rank the Resident Evil games that don't even exist yet over RE6 ;P

And I'll be able to slot Revelations in there somewhere come May once I can finally play the damn thing, too.

Same here. He's an annoying little turd who not only serves no purpose to the plot, but also significantly hinders it several times. And the worst part? There's no irony or sarcasm in his presentation. The people behind this game legitimately thought I would love and care for this fuckwit.

I'm doing something similar at the moment, essentially playing every RE games in the main franchise in story order. I'm almost done with RE0.

REmake is next which i never played. Played the original PS1 game tons of time though. I'm really looking forward to it, seeing all the changes and honestly RE0 is a gorgeous game. It made me stop in a few areas just to try and imagine how amazing those types of environments would look on the current consoles.

Is a great game .... also the more dinamic but still Resident Evil camera works great , also I love the story of the game etc. Forgive me but I missed the memo that says that this is a bad game D: (Also I just like the weird twins story and how the whole virus began in the first place and the back story of umbrella) Also the music ... I like , and my favorite part is the twins mansion (just love the gothic look/feeling of it) Also I like the main bad gal :D , and also it was the return of Wesker so that too.

All of my experience outside RE4 and 5 comes from DarkID let's plays. So uh, I personally found RE2 the most coherent and interesting of the bunch. So that.
