Kinda crazy how similarly Patrick and Ryan played System Shock 2, surely they must know how influential it was on the Deus Ex ilk of games, or that it was made by the Thief guys, and that you have to be much more aware of your environment in these kinds of games in order to avoid getting spotted by security cameras and stuff like that. Both Ryan and Patrick ran straight into that room with the camera in the corner and alerted a bunch of enemies, I don't recall that happening ever even on my first time with the game. I certainly triggered the alarm when I failed a hack every now and then, and got killed by the turrets that appear later on that level, but I don't think I ever tripped a camera like that. They give you a lot of aural feedback after all - both announcing their presence, and that they've seen you (giving you around 3 seconds to move out of their line of sight before they sound the alarm) and when they return to their normal alert status.
The melee combat is pretty bad, but unlike back in 1999 we've been trained to accept combat like that through the three Elder Scrolls games released since then, but both Patrick and Ryan pretty much threw themselves into the combat scenarios, which for the most part aren't that hard to avoid, especially early on.
