The crew's inability to distinquish between CG and gameplay was slightly disturbing.
After being beaten for hours until my legs were bloody and mangled, I watched helplessly as my wife and child were brutally murdered with old, rusty machetes and my joy and freedoms were irreparably torn apart by an intense monologue.
This had me in stitches!

Okay maybe online multiplayer will be free, but for the streaming/ share button functions you will need to be a Plus member.
Christ I was in tears when the Drive Club guy was talking and they were commenting on that... kudos guys. Thanks for this video.
Was a fun watch but noting they showed blew me away. I was surprised how much game they had to show, but what they showed just looked like more of the same with better visuals. And the visuals didn't do anything for me because the video was so grainy that it was hard to make any of it out. Will be interested in seeing what comes out after launch, but all of those online features they were trumpeting hold zero appeal to me and even if they did I could never use any of them as they all sound as if they would require some amazingly fast internet with no data cap to work well. Not sure how many people have one of those.
agreed
Why is no one excited for this? The first couple of games for 360 and PS3 didn't look that great. They looked better on PC. This looks at least comparable. It's a decent step up. You won't be playing this stuff on the current generation. I really wonder how Watch Dogs will look on current tech. They must shackle it somehow.
Great to see you back on the couch, duder. You need to do something about that beard, though; you're starting to eerily resemble Vincent from Catherine. If you keep going down this path, who knows what'll happen.
Guessing the whole ten year plan on the PS3 is gone or counting what time it was spent in development. Have to say that the Sucker Punch presentation was toned a little much where I was hoping that what the Bombsquad mentioned about it just being some random paranoid as hell stranger running up on stage instead. Overall, it's a console presentation launch teaser, few interesting things but until playing more with it, it's hard to tell how much it will work right & how much of it will be in eternal beta/ill fitting as Playstation Home.
This was so goddamn much fun to watch with the GB crew, that the chat was broken for me for the whole thing too which actually turned out to be a huge plus.
Steamboat has a big opportunity here, if they could somehow deliver a reasonably affordable pc-in-a-box then we're looking at three machines all of which may not be very different at all hardware wise. In which case it's choosing ecosystem. With Sony cutting out the backwards compatibility I'm in a position where I'd easily jump ecosystem with little impact. For me it would be steam because I trust them to deliver games and services with customer service in mind. Whereas I have my own experiences of Sony and Ms hasn't exactly done anything to make me think it'll be any better. When steamboat was announced I was meh but as time goes on I could really see myself getting one. Don't duck it up gave.
*building a pc isn't cost effective for me, before everyone jumps in. I imagine a lot of console gamers are the same
I was nearly in tears during the Sucker Punch intro. The dissonance of his absurdly serious tone and the rest of the conference was so fucking hilarious. I could not believe what I was watching. He was spot on, but what the fuck. It was just so out of place. Imagine if that happened in the middle of a Nintendo press conference?

Yeah but Steam really just doesn't have the exclusives, apart from X Mas holiday sales, for games I buy but hardly ever really play, I hardly ever buy games for PC. The 4 PC exclusives I have brought full price in the last 2 Years are Battlefield 3, Diablo 3, Star Craft 2 and Sim City, NONE of which appeared on Steam. So you may as well just build a PC and play all games.
They need to do this for Microsoft's thing. Whenever they decide to do it. This video was hilarious!
Vinny and Ryan have facial hair locked down, but I'm looking forward to Patrick chiming in on the mix!
Even watching the Oscars would be bearable if the crew was re-streaming it and making fun of everyone in the process.
A few hours ago (noon Sweden) I headed downtown for some electronics accessories, but dropped by the one GAME shop and checked in on PS4 sign-ups. They had a total of four when I came in from when work started that day, three from employees.
Decent for my 140 000 large city. Looking forward to this even if it takes a year to come to Europe.
Pretty impressed with how good the actual conference came out. The technical stuff was all really cool and informative and instantly sold me on the PS4 as far as hardware goes. The games (with the exception of Killzone) were all really interesting as well. I'm still quite disappointed there was no duck demo. Hopefully, they're saving big time stuff like that for E3.
Sony need more insane dudes to talk about games on their stage, that how they win.

They always meant the total time of support. 10 years after release would be 2016, which is not all that crazy considering how many are out there and how long the PS2 was produced and had stuff released.
Hopefully the price is reasonable.499 might be a decent price range for a top of the line ps4 model and about 400 for the cheaper one.
Then again maybe one can get the console for a much lower price if one is willing to watch advertisements or something like that.
The hightlight for me was the guy who presented that car game. That was pure comedy gold. I was half expecting to start hearing Barry White singing when the presenter got to the part of opening the car door.
Dude from the inFamous bit reminded me of Doug Hutchison when he was on X-Files...such a super weird presentation.
"High, my name is Patrick and I'm going to be snarky about everything as much as possible because its Sony and I feel the need to constantly talk shit."
This was the worst way to watch the stream for the first time thanks to Patrick. I like the guy and have been a fan for years but he laid it on very, very thick in this stream. So much so that at times he was breaking the silence of the guys watching the stuff (that they were enjoying) just to be snarky.
So the PS4 is basically just an x86 PC? So much for the PC dying, huh?
The best thing to come out of this is that porting from PS4 to PC will be very quick and easy.
First time in a long while where looking forward to E3 actually sounds alright.
Holiday 2013? Thank you based Sony.
Great conference, but Patrick being back just meant we had a negativity on everything shown.. Great!

You weren't forced to watch the GB cast of the stream, you could have watched the dry original stream. I had no issues with what anyone said the entire time. Of course people are going to be snarky about Sony, don't be naive.
Don't come to GB, knowing the staff, then complain that they speak. No one cares.

He's been doing that for a while. I felt the same way during the Medal of Honor: Warfighter livestream. Feels like he's being negative just to be negative. But I learned from that, so I watched the official Sony livestream first, then came back and watched it again here because I wanted to know what the guys thought. And even having seen it already, I still wanted Patrick to just stop talking.
All the skepticism around every single point was really annoying, even after the press conference ended, like about the lack of L2/R2 on the Vita. Well, what the fuck do you want them to do, Patrick? Just cancel the whole fucking feature just because you don't think using the back touch as a rudimentary replacement is worth it? The Vita doesn't have clickable sticks either. You know what? Let's just cancel the Vita. And the PS4. It's over guys; Patrick doesn't like the lack of shoulder buttons. Pack it up.
Like, yeah, it's a compromised experience, but who fucking cares? That's the best they can realistically do and they're doing it. I can play the new inFamous game at work if I want to with my PS4 at home. If I'm at my girlfriend's house and she wants to watch something dumb on TLC and I have my Vita, I can hop into Driveclub right there. I can do that on like two games on PS3 right now, and no, it's not the same as playing it on my HDTV with zero lag and no compression, but it's still fucking cool to be navigating my PS3 XMB and loading into Tokyo Jungle from anywhere.
But yes, I agree with you. Patrick was being snarky to be snarky.

Don't be a douche and protest an illegal invasion of a country based on lies along with 1,000,000's of people around the world, just be kind and loving and let the banks and military invade for profit.
This was great! I didn't plan to sit through all that, but it turned out really entertaining and informative.

When has Giant Bomb ever not involved snark, it was one of the founding features =)
My gaming pc can swallow a PS4 whole and digest it for ten years in its cabinet.
@bourbon_warrior: I don't think they were founded on snark. I come here for unbridled enthusiasm and raw honesty. I don't want negativity for the sake of negativity. I'll go to Destructoid if I want that.
