Hmm, interesting....
"Sacrebleu!", now that was a nice touch.

Thank god. I wouldn't want Assassin Creed to take place in Japan. Sounds stupid to me. So, VIVA LA FRANCE!!!!

Ugh, I just hope Assassins Creed doesn't turn into a Hitman game...

I loved it when it was long before the 1700 it was just boring after the 1700 I say they should continue the story after Altair kills Almualim and continue the story from there.

Besides I am guessing that the Templar's and Vidic (present), would want to know where Altair hid the Piece of Eden so yeah this is what I am guessing and after they find it they may go retrieve it or they may send Desmond to get it.

But I am just saying I would be interested about the French Revolution but  I will lose alot of my interest for this game if they do. And besides in the game they may have muskets which will probably ruin it.
What I am trying to say is that if they put it in the 1700 it will ruin AC2"

Do you actually know of what happened in 18th century France...?

Je voudrai Une Assasaines Creeede dous. Lol just kidding  alittle french mixed with made up words. Anyway I like the setting. I believe there was assasins in the revolutionary war. As there alwasys have been assasins. This time, maybe they''ll have him killing people from both sides of the conflict. The sword could work, but only as a secondary weapon. Maybe a rifle as the first weap and a handgun instead of throwing knives and u could probably keep the hidden blade. That would be koolage. Also, they might be able to keep the rooftop part. Have to move more stealthy then the first seeing as they will notice most definetly if u move too fast. Also, when using guns have to have a way to shield urself from the gunfire. Maybe u could grad people and use them as human shields? that hasn't been used much in games. Viva La Games. Also to be able to see people being killed by the guilletine would be cool. Also maybe they could put saving critical people from the french revolution from execution.

Where can I contact the company of Assassin Cree?

SPOILER WARNING FOR FIRST Assassin's ending

Don't read this if you don't want to know the ending
**************************************

I'm Chinese living in Hong Kong, and after finishing the first game, i was very excited, since somehow you got to see bloodstains on the wall

They were chinese characters, not japanese. So i began speculating if they would reveal the memories of the previous test subject who left those stains, meaning recreating an ancient China

1700s to me, makes a lot more sense in supporting this idea. The Qing dynasty was just established, and since the Qing royalty weren't the ethic majority at the time. There was great tension between the Qing guys and the Main chinese Han ppl.

Mainy assassination organisations were set up by both sides to try to over throw the Qing, or to clean out the believers in teh previous dynasty the Ming.

This is just my own wishful speculation, providing with respect a perspective possibility to which Mr. Pachter would have unlikely knew about.

Just thinking since there were still no guns in China at that time, gameplay could be kept quite similar to the previous one. And chinese lore is very heavy with assassination stories.

I love the French Revolution time period.  Despite the redundancy of the first game, I still loved it and am eagerly anticipating this sequel.

its gonna be beast yet again.

That would be an interesting setting.  Also, AC=worst ending EVAR!  I mean, WTF?  =(

I think that this is only a rumor, because the first one sucked.

i was really hoping it would be set in present day....that would be awesome

Look, all I want is Assassin's Creed: 40,000 BC

Altair leaps across gaping Mammoths and scales trees that TOTALLY DON'T LOOK LIKE YOU'D BE ABLE TO CLIMB UP THEM.

Okay, let me ask you this: Do you actually know anything that happened in the 18th century, or are you just randomly bashing the time line.?

I think a big part of the reason I liked Assassins Creed so much was that it was crowded. There were actual crowds. When each person takes up memory and processing time it's hard to do, which is a big part of the reason we have so many post apocalyptic wastelands to play through. With almost everyone dead, you only have to render the one to six baddies that need killing.

Sure, the people walk into alleys, then walk right back out again, and the people carrying heavy loads just wander in endless circles, but that only bothered me because everything else was so good. Hooray for streets crowded with people.

I quite like the idea of this, its a close fit to the previous game so it should allow for a lot of historical fact mixed in with the fiction of the story.  I really enjoyed the pervious game but i do enjoy the whole stealth kill mechanic.

Posted by Proteus1202

Hmmm.....I wonder if they'll use the same device to go into memories of the past....or use the time travel device to actually go to the past (and maybe bring Altair there too)

the 1st one was an amazing step foward for gaming. The cities were amazing, the population of ai was outstanding the assasinations were some of my best  gaming memories, the missions between these assasinations SUCKED!!!!!! They had no difference between each city. Pick Pocket, Eavesdrop. If they can suss that out they have a major chance for GOTY 09.

Dude.  That almost makes me more excited.

I vote Christopher Lambert as Altair.  Assassin's Creed would be a shoe-in for Game of the Year, then.  Haha.

"COULD NOT POSSIBLY CARE LESS.

Like a lot of people, it didn't take me long to realize that I was doing the exact same thing in different - but indistinguishable - cities. Less a sandbox game than a "look at me crawl on buildings!" novelty on rails. Yeah, hopping around rooftops was a curiosity for a couple hours, but that in and of itself is hardly "gameplay". And once that wears off, it's just a half-assed game. The only thing Assassin's Creed truly had going for it was a hot producer chick (Jade Raymond).

If I hear good things about a sequel and I can find it used for around $20 after awhile, I might give it a chance. Otherwise, I'm going to just assume it's a derivative piece of crap from an over-hyped piece of crap."

Totally disagree, but have stated why so many times now, that I don't feel like saying it again.

There is so much stuff that happened in the 1700s, French Revolution, American Revolution, The Great Northern War, The Carnatic Wars, The 7 years war. Hopefully they get rid of some of the repetitive gameplay and we should have an awesome game!

"I know most people didn't like the story of AC, but if they would tell another chapter in that story, and just change the gameplay to suit the timeframe, that would be pretty rad. I agree, one where you play as Desmund would be the best, since they kind of forgot to finish the story in the first, one, or so it seemed. Its like, "Hey, you can has magical assassin vision, there is special words everywhere, and this evil dude is going to take over the world kthxitsover."

Posted by Eriktion

This franchise is golden, considering the "technology" that the game is based on, you could have any time period and any genre mechanic. How about taking it back to the year 0020. Jesus H Christ is the final boss - Controversial? HELL YEAH!

Posted by Worm

I thought it will occure in 2012, and you'll play as Desmund. I mean, that seemed like it.

Edited by Vaile

Anticlimactic? Right, try to keep the reviews more objective buddy.

Besides, I doubt a French Revolution game for the second one. Too close to modern day...

Posted by Jedted

I'll admit that when i saw the mixed reviews for the first game i didn't think too highly about it but after i played it myself i saw how compeling the story is and once i finished it i couldn't wait for the sequel.  Glad to see it's actually in development and that they're changing up the setting to keep in interesting.

While the animus bits will probebly be totally new i hope they continue to expand on everything you learned in the present day about the modern Templars.  And also learn more about the previous test subjects who went into the animus before Desmond.

Posted by John

Yup, Mikey P sure knows how to drop some knowledge to the world.

Posted by zityz

No matter what time frame they have it set in, they need to continue to elaborate on the modern era part of the game as well, and not leaving it hanging, and maybe try to make some sense of all that Eagle Vision nonsense at the end of the game. Also at some point, I would love to see a modern version, with Desmond, somehow becoming an assassin by unlocking all the knowledge within him.

Posted by Media_Master

An assassin in France..HA.. they'll make it good somehow right?

Posted by crusnchill

I can see how this one will be so much better, ubisoft are pretty good at improving past mistakes, so yeah!
This could be awsome instead of repetitive to the extremes of me sometimes waking up and finding that my 360 is still running and altair has just been standing in a particular location for 3 hours straight doing nothing lol.
Anyway, to the people who think altair is the main character again. Umm, HELLOOOO! the time periods are so far apart that if altair's offspring was the main character then that character would call Altair his great-grandadx5 or something, lol.

If you haven't explored the room with Eagle's Vision, you should probably do that.

I predicted Creed 2 to be in an oriental setting due to the oriental building drawn in blood in the end and there is a name of a dynstay ruler at the end of the game.

The narrow streets of 1700 century paris would be just as fun to jump around in and the atmosphere would be so awesome... with the smell of revolution in the air :-)..... To the Guilioutine!!! ehmm... Time machine!!

wow, i was always joking about how the next assassin's creed was going to be in the 1700 during la renaissance, guess i was more right than joking.
i wonder how they will work it out though, with the introduction of guns and stuff like that.

I always assumed we would see at least one more ancestor (Desmond obviously being the link throughout the series) before we see Desmond's own game.  I'm happy with any era so long as it isn't Ninja-land (done already) and so long as they don't switch from primarily melee combat to ranged combat.

Could Desmond possibly have a Templar ancestor in AC2, so that you have no defined 'side' in AC3?  Or are the Templars already too set as 'The Bad Guys'?

Nice,  can't wait for it to come out.

Posted by RagingLion

Surely accurate musket usage is against the laws of physics ^^

With no silencers around a good backstab would still be preferred primary method of assassination in this time period I reckon.

Posted by InFamous91

I agree with Ryan, "I just hope they can come up with a less anticlimactic ending for the sequel". While I'll be waiting for Assassin Creed 2, I will be playing the new Prince of Persia next week.

Posted by RoninKengo

Great choice of setting.  The Napoleonic era is not something you see too often in action games... too often relegated to RTS.  I demand accurate musket usage and physics though!
