Wow, this thing is getting outta hand. Might as well throw my two cents in. Personally, I love the new art style. It's endlessly slick-looking and is a natural progression of each character's look from previous games. I think they really nailed the "silhouette" factor in that every single character can be identified by merely looking at the outline of their frame, not to mention they're ridiculously expressive. I seriously love it. And as for Cammy, I think she looks fine. She looks like Cammy to me.
"As I've said numerous times already now, I hate the style used. I think those who say, you get used to it are mystifying themselves, because the game itself plays so well. On that note I suggest you get a joystick.
I dislike the fact the move towards this (ugly) art style has been done in an attempt to pander to the US market primarily, that seems obvious to me. Capcom should realize that Street Fighter fans around the world appreciate greatly the original Japanese style, which has been so strong in past games and has appealed to many.
I love SF4, but I will never like the art style, it will forever continue to disgust me, it's plain bad imo. I'm all for the 2.5 and the new players models, but some of my favourite characters look fucked up now, and I am not happy about it. Capcom Vs Tastunoko on the other hand is a fighter that mesmerizes me with it's beauty everytime I play, to the point I get distracted from fighting. It's a shame Capcom did not go down a similar route bar cell shaded graphics.
So judging from the video you just want things that lack any style and emotion. The characters of Street Fighter 4, much like the more controversial Wind Waker, ooze character and emotion. The bulging eyes and exaggerated figure couldnt be more Street Fighter. It epitomizes the style of the series. Now that KOF trailer? Uninspired, Unoriginal.I want personality, originality, and a style they can call their own, not Japanese Animation 101. "
Err, yeah ok mate, lack any style : /, your kidding right?. The new KoF has style in abundance, a style far more appealing than SF4 does imo, the opinion of a artist.
I'm all for emotion via animation, but what the hell does that have to do with the style of art used in SF4 ???. I'm confused, do tell me :?
Capcom can shove there crappy US styled bulky meat-heads up their fucking arse. I want the character style I have loved throughout the series, with the new animation and 2.5D.
Just to clarify again as I did in my first post in this thread,, I love SF4, but the art style used will forever disgust me. I find it shockingly bad/westernized.
EDIT:
Exactly PureRok, some characters look like shit, they kind of remind me of the crappy art used on the western versions of SF2, the versions I never bought because of the box art alone.
The art on my Japanese Famicom copies are miles better than this BS above.

They could have done that without making quite a few characters hideous.
Most people would find hand drawn high definition graphics unacceptable today. The SFIV style is much more original and noticeable. You may not like the art style, but there is no other fighter out there like it.

Well, when you're busy beating the crap out of people as her you don't really get enough time to get a good look at her, and in that respect she looks fine while spinning across the screen.
If I wanted to look at her I'd turn to art like that which is posted above me.
"I'm trying to understand here. What's so "freakishly ugly" about Cammy? The fact that she's showing muscles?"
Yes. Though, it's the fact that the muscles look like bulky man legs thus ruining her sexy spy persona. You know, I was discussing this with a few people on my friends list earlier while playing SFIV and they pretty much all agreed. I kind of expected the same thing here, but I guess not. Really, am I the only one who has a problem with the game's art direction."
I don't think you're the only one who doesn't like the art direction. I have my own issues with it too. I'm not a big fan of El Fuerte for example, or at least of him being some sort of fighting cook (even though this as more to do with character design than art direction, anyway...). But as far as the girls in SFIV are concerned, I like most of them. I always appreciated how they portrayed Cammy as being an athletic woman, and even more so now where she's showing some definite muscles. Then again, I'm biased: I'm a certified personal trainer and my own wife is a fitness girl. I like athletic woman, and so I really like the new Cammy. In the end though, art direction will never please everyone and there's not much users and players can do about it. As always, respecting other people's likes and dislikes is really the only option here."
I feel that if they'd have given her muscle tone without bulking her up, it would have been fine with me. It just seems like all the characters have been injected with steroids and look nothing like how I remember them. Looking back, I probably should have mentioned my gripes with all the characters than just Cammy, but I feel she's been given the worst.
So you prefer a weaker physik, over a strong one? Your nit picking, she is the same. You gay guys are all the same. Got to have the weaker physiks on your picks.
I see no change in her, art style. It's just has more pixels. Like the old FF games. They are the most popular because the transexual under tones were hidden under the 8 bits graphics.

"Is this a serious post? Bad quality screenshots and using the DLC outfit to compare? What?"
If I could have found better pics, i'd have used them. Working on the basis that a lot of people here have played more than one Street Fighter game meant that I thought I could get away with dodgy pictures.

It's not that I want her to look realistic or that i'm med because she's no longer a fox but the fact they've taken a character and completely changed her into looking freakishly ugly. I'd have made a similar thread if I mained Ryu and in SFIV, they changed his karate gi to something hideous.
You're either very picky or haven't seen much girls in real life; Cammy has always sported a tomboy look and I have seen much more boyish looking girls in real life.
Yup, I hate some of the art and characters. Cammys suit is way too slinky now. slight changes made. We are getting into Dead or Alive territory here. Then you have a retard like Rufus and a dumbass like El Fuerte. What the fuck capcom? Fuck I hate when things are just clearly japanese because they make no fucking sense and are not funny to anyone outside of japan.
"Notice how, in the brand new and totally ugly srt style, she looks like a post-op transexual who must have played a lot of rugby before he had the snip."
So I don't come across as a sweaty, lecherous Otaku whose only contact with women is when his mother brings some microwave Ramen down to the basement, this blog was originally about how much I hated the Street Fighter IV art style, however, the more I wrote, the more I found it boiled down to how much I hated the design of Cammy, the character I mained back when I was a child on my cousin's SNES and throughout the versus games, so I deleted the stuff about Bison's goofy grin and Sakura's broken arms and got personal with the lady I love the most.
Now, in all those games, Cammy's character model was amazing. While wearing an outfit that made no sense seeing as she's a fucking spy (Read: fucking spy *high five*), her character model was slinky, sexy, spry and, most importantly here, female. Look:
Cammy in Super Street Fighter II.Notice how, even in the typical anime way of overemphasising curves, she still looks like a girl. At least moreso than Chun-Li who has looked far too meaty from the beginning and thus been skipped over in this blog. Na-ow, look at Cammy in Street Fighter IV:
Notice how, in the brand new and totally ugly srt style, she looks like a post-op transexual who must have played a lot of rugby before he had the snip. To me, all the characters look pretty lame apart from the new guys who were obviously made with this style in mind but none of the old ones look anywhere near as butchered and yacky as Cammy.
So maybe, yes, i'm a little bitter: I paid £60 for a collector's edition that has about £5 worth of extra content in it. I feel like i'm playing more against the pad than I am against the AI. I've played against Ken a million times which is so boring. And then to top it off, they ruin my character. Resident Evil 5 had better be good, Capcom, or I am done with you. Professionally.
