" Good video. I still find it rather puzzling why they chose to redo the arcade version instead of the SNES version, but with 4-player co-op...perhaps the changes they'd have to make would've resulted in more work? It would've been worth it, at least... "But that doesn't make any sense. Re-shelled isn't a port, it's a from-the-ground-up remake. They wouldn't have to re-write any of the code or anything to "make room" for the SNES features, because they were writing their own code.
I think it just shows that nobody at Ubisoft actually knew what they were doing. It's hard to believe that anybody on the team that made the remake actually knew the differences between the two versions or cared which one they based it off of. I mean, all you have to do is play through each one once. They aren't even long games.
I'm pretty sure Ubisoft saw an emerging trend and wanted to cash in on the idea without actually caring about the source material they were updating. Unlike Bionic Commando Re-Armed, which was made by a group of people who clearly loved the source material and updated it in thoughtful and meaningful ways, Re-shelled is instead just a limp translation with some awkward changes that don't really make a whole lot of sense.
