Honestly i hope you let weird kid die to see what happens, if he's the killer then mystery solved. Why not see what happens???

Am I the only one who expects that when the model get's done that a social link pops up with the model robot??

Tip: Weapons are useless to buy; it's better to use physical skills. Usually there dungeon special weapons are probably their best option.

How many times did Vinny say "ok, now we're gonna save it"? Persona tends to do that to you.

Posted by fynne

Ummm....I'm not sure, but I think that you forgot to register your new Personas BEFORE you did that Undine fuse....

Great run guys.  Don't forget to mail in those prize stickers for bonus items when you get back.  Also I'm not sure but I think Luck affects chance for Crits and Follow-up attacks, so maybe Kanji would benefit from that accessory since his Strength is pretty high.  Finally I'd say consider s-linking with the V-room chick, as someone whose been watching but not playing, I'd assume leveling would get you discounts on pulling Personas out of the compendium.  Have fun at E3 in the mean time.  I'll definately be tuning into the site for your full coverage which is sure to be awesome.

Its good to have a little break once in a while. However, for me it will be more like two weeks of no endurance run, because of my vacation. :(

Posted by stinky

seriously, is E3 so important as to delay episode 81?

i think not.

Great send off, Vinny and Jeff. Definitely a weeks worth of ER just in these last two episodes.

So let me get this straight. ER everyday until E3, then E3 (The biggest week of video gaming announcements of the year), then more ER like "immediately" after E3 and people are complaining? You'd think we weren't getting all this awesome content for free!

Also, what is up with all these comments about not needing the specific personas to level up the S. Link. People went ape-shit when V and J weren't using the specific Arcana and now you're complaining that they aren't taking full advantage of it? They know that you can upgrade the S. Links without them but they also know that it isn't efficient either.  Jesus Christ on a stick. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

There are like three types of comments here.

Type 1
The vast majority of us are appreciative and love the ER for what it is. Two friends playing a crazy game they like at their own pace. They're not trying to 100% it or bogged down in trying to increase everyone's stats to the point of not being able to enjoy the parts of the side stories that they want to see.

Type 2
"I haxored into the website and got into ER episode 200 and hittoring F5 for the last three days it's not up yet? C'mon you lazy dicks! Why isn't tomorrow's video up today? Get with the times!"

Type 3
"I beat the game last week with a bunch of guides off of gamefaqs, I can't believe that Jeff and Vinny haven't memorized the weaknesses of enemies they haven't faced yet and made a database of possible fusions. Apparently they don't know anything about video games! Oh and to be cute and prove that I played the game before here's a hint at a spoiler! Also, I insist on calling them Let's Plays because there's no way in hell that someone playing a video game and putting it on the internet can be called anything else."

I think you can fuse ghoul by fusing omoikane and Senri. I think you have both.

I think this game needs to test the player some.  A situation where you need to save someone in a day for example (by stocking up heavily on items and using them tactically) or during a dungeon have weapons or armour break or something. That would be fun, to watch more than play but fun none the less. =)

Seconded, lol. I realize it can be frustrating to see people not realizing things in a game that you have already completed, but half the fun is watching Jeff and Vinny figure stuff out for themselves.  Great work guys, keep up the awesome/hilarious content!

Man I was really hoping that you guys could get to level 10 with Chie, something awesome happens and I wanted to hear your reactions

Im playing Persona 4 right now and I never think about getting a Persona that fits a persons Arcana, and I still get social links so I dont think that is neccesary

Anyyway, I loved the long episode and cant wait for the next!

Edited by SpunkyHePanda
@Venatio: Sure, you still get social links, but you'll level them up faster and see significantly more S. Link scenes over the course of the game if you match personas.

I could have sworn we cleared this up weeks ago.

What you said about leveling up the S.link faster might be true but I think you still see the same amount of scenes because all of the scenes that Vinny and Jeff have seen I have seen before during me playthrough when I didnt care about matching personas
Edited by SpunkyHePanda
@Venatio: Right, but what I mean is that since there is a finite number of days in the game, leveling up the S. Links faster will allow you to see more of the level up scenes before the game ends. Maxing out all the S. Links in one playthrough is possible, but very difficult, even if you always carry a matching persona.

Which is why I think they should stick with what they're doing. Not because it's "playing the game better" but because they (and the viewers) will be able to see more of the game this way.

You can level up your social links without having a persona of that arcana. By having a persona of same arcana as your social link you level up the social link twice as fast.

Also, to save money on armor, you don't have to buy the newest armor for everyone. All the guys share the same armor (Charlie, Yosuke, Kanji, and Teddie) and all the girls (Chie and Yukiko) share the same armor. You don't want a party full of dudes, it'll be a total sausage fest.  Just buy armor for 3 guys and have an extra very cheap armor that you haven't sold  and rotate the armor around your dudes.

To be clear , after a certain point in P3 it was required to have a matching persona to meet with the person.  In P4 thats not the case.  But you still want to to do it because it grants a 50% bonus to the points you receive during a SL.  And thats becomes a huge factor as you get into the higher levels of SLs.

Yes you don't need to do it.  There a lot of thing you actually don't need to do and you can still beat the game after all.  If you wanted to you could not fuse at all and just use personas you draw randomly but it would be a slog.

Thanks for making the extra effort to point out which talking heads are girls and which ones are boys.  I thought that Chie was a guy and that Yukiko was a table-top mixer.

Dude, check out Jack Frost on that vending machine during the Social Link with Rise.

Posted by mattysen

Best line of all time, and its about Hospital Girl...

Vinny "Level 5. She can take a mortal blow for you now!"

Jeff "..Tell me about it"

Posted by Gunblader

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what persona you have on you when you are working on your s. linking.  I beat the game and got max s. links on a lot of characters and I never bothered having the right personas on me.

Posted by GioVANNI

I made a hunter on WoW, named him Funkystudent, and named his pet Mysterious Fox.

Posted by ZmillA

omg yukiko needs a tator long, NAH MEAN?!

Posted by SpunkyHePanda
@Gunblader: Yes, and you could have maxed out more S. Links if you had.

Yeah, isn't that just a crazy thing?

I really don't understand why certain people don't understand this concept yet. I mean, really. Really? I mean REALLY?

Ok, so if you randomly stumble onto these videos and then for some reason want to comment without watching the videos then you probably just don't know what you're talking about. Fine. Then you're just an idiot for commenting on something you don't have any experience with. Fine whatever.

Ok, so let's say that you've actually watched these videos religiously, so... now should you understand S. Links? Maybe, maybe not. I mean sometimes V/J don't mention it and they start of S links just because they're close. Fine. I mean maybe you weren't able to read what the game said because you had the video minimized and V/J were talking about something else. Then you're just not paying that close attention and well you're an ass for commenting on something that you should know about but fine whatever.

Ok, so now we've got Gunblader and others of his sad ilk. Gunb, you've watched the vids, you've played the game. How do you  still not know how it works? It's not a difficult concept. An S. Link has 10 levels and at the very minimum you would need 10 interactions (including the first) to get to level 10, right? Right. But what happens if you have an interaction with an NPC but you don't get your level? Well that means that you need more than 10 interactions with an NPC to get to level 10.  Still there? Well the more times you don't match the Arcana with the NPC the more times you'll get a scene with no level increase. The more times you DO match arcanas then the more you'll avoid the non-levelling interaction.

And the worst thing is... this isn't some secret behind-the-scenes dice rolling going on. I mean the game freakin' tells you in RED LETTERS. If you played the game and still didn't understand this concept I wouldn't go around bragging about it.

The dialogue choices are important as well. (the music notes, if you don't know) Picking the right ones nets you bonus points to potentially reach the next rank faster.  Having a matching Persona equipped usually makes correct choices worth more points.

Is it really?  I've been careful to have one equipped in most cases (save the ones that always rank, like Devil and Sun), but what does that mean, required?  Do you just not get the points for accepting an offer?

Rise's voice actor Laura Bailey rapping in the anime series Kodocha:

In case anyone thought Rise couldn't be any more annoying.  (I like her, myself.)

Wow. Lots of social link debates in the comments for this episode. It's pretty simple people: Each music note represents a point. A certain amount of points are needed to trigger the next scene to rank up the S.Link. When you accept to hang out with someone, you get 2 points right of the bat. You'll get 3 points if you have the correct arcana with you. Decisions you make during a rank up sequence will result in either 0, 1, 2, or 3 points toward your next rank up. Having the correct arcana will grant an extra point on certain decisions, but will never be more than 3. Whenever the "You believe your relationship will become closer soon" pops up, that means next time you hang out with that person, you'll rank up.

It's that simple.

Come back!

evilpauls everywhere miss the Endurance Run!!!!

Posted by VariableGear

I somehow missed out on this entire series.  Until now.

Great work on this; this episode really exemplifies what it's like to play a JRPG with friends nearby.  I'll check out some back episodes in anticipation for Monday's goodness.

Posted by The_Soviet

Man, I just finished watching episodes 67-80 of the endurance run in a row, and I am now finally caught up. I just tested my endurance for the endurance run. Yeah!

Posted by strangeling

Finally!  I'm all caught back up.

Go Vinny, Go!

Vinny Jeff remember - You can date multiple girls with NO consequences!

Also when you max their SLinks your entourage's persona evolve.

Even better is that the voice actress for Rise is also the VA for Rayne of Bloodrayne fame.
The Nurse also played Faye Valentine
And Teddie was once John McClaine in a crappy Die Hard game (Nakatomi Plaza)
Posted by ahoodedfigure
@Vlaphor: The nurse is played by the actor who did Faye?  Awesome! :)

All last week E3 made me not miss Endurance Run at all, but I woke up today with the shakes waiting for it. It's like Persona is heroin and E3 is Methadone, but the clinic just closed, and my dealer is nowhere to be found.

Posted by SirThirdFilms

I may cry of joy when 81 goes up

Posted by endaround
@Vlaphor:
More important than all of that, Laura Bailey is the voice of Shin Chan!
Posted by Venatio

Ive missed the Endurance Run but the E3 stuff was great, but is there an episode today? They said there would be one today

Posted by Taler

They're probably recording on the same day. And when it goes up might depend on how long it takes for them to process it!

Posted by SirThirdFilms

Vinny said that it would be later in the day when it would show up cause they would be recording it today

Posted by PeasForFees

And now sit back and watch the internet implode on it's self.

Prepare for an epic 3 hour episode!! Oh how I wish that were the case.

With the 3 points for a correct arcana, is that 3 extra or just 1 extra?
