Seriously. The first episode was great because they were stumbling through everything and having fun (somewhat), but now Ryan is getting super serious about playing and isn't really talking at all. Hopefully next week they'll try focusing on the community a little more.

On the other hand, Vinny is awesome.

blah blah, stop complaining, there is no way the community wont be insulted.  The people still left playing this take it too seriously.  Besides, these guys review games for a living, and when you have a game that sucks this bad, and takes place after the worst of the three matrix movies, what the fuck do you want?  A lot of the laughs have to do with the stuff that is wrong with the game.

This isnt ridicule, this is documentation. 

Ryan and Vinny could have just of easily not played the game but instead they chose to "DOCUMENT" the end times of Matrix Online.

 ME: Isnt that just typical behaviour of the majority of people on the internet..especially in regards to people who play games? There's an interesting tribal mentality going on here..but thats another matter.
Ryan and Vinny are acting like guys who have never played the game before, have no idea whats going on and are giving honest opinions about what they think of the game as they try to understand it. They are not reviewing but chronicling their own experiences. Personally i find the hand to hand fun to watch, but the rest is nigh on awful....and that's coming from someone who just quit WoW after 7months.
People are defensive of things they love, be it the matrix, giantbomb or vinny messing up on Persona. Its just rather sad that most can't see the wood for the trees.
Nevertheless insulting ones favourite videogame would be tantamount to insulting their choice in footwear. Its an opinion and open to ridicule as much as anything else.

Ryan and Vinny - Don't know if you know this, but the bar at the top of the screen corresponds to the number keys on your keyboard. You don't have to open your skills during a fight and place them in the bar, you set up your skills before the fight then you just use the number keys rather than having to click on tiny icons to do everything.

All the menus have prominent shortcut keys as well.

I'm not an MMO douche who's going to get angry because you don't know how to play but it's INCREDIBLY frustrating to watch you guys awkwardly fumble around with mouse clicks :)

Edit: Also your character stats seem to be set up for a ranged character. So you should start using guns... the game would probably be a lot easier that way.

@ghostNPC: Pulling a comment you don't agree with and not typing anything to argument that, however obvious it might be to you, is merely there for flaming purposes.  Though I do not agree with most of it, part of the appeal of this website, Giant Bomb, is that the staff are willing to do these things.  An Endurance Run is something no other gaming website has done.  People at 1up, for example, would never let something like this be done because they are more refined in their presentation.  I'm not saying that Giant Bomb is not refined, but less so than 1up (think Giant Bomb app. ad).  Anyways, that's why I love Giant Bomb, because they do these things.

@CrazyNinja: I did watch the video, the whole video, and yes Vinny does say that MxO has a dedicated user-base.  But I was referring mostly to the first video, where they said something to the effect of "Who could possibly play this?"  But yes, in this episode, they were actually trying to play the game properly instead of mocking it.

This is priceless, I can't wait to see what happens next.  I hope you guys focus more on the community and less on the missions.  At least you're trying to learn the game.

Well, while I admit that I would only be slightly frustrated and that  that particular comment was slightly irrelevent, when you insult an MMORPG in particular, it's like insulting the whole community behind it.  Imagine a popular gaming website doing a video and insulting WoW the game; many members of the community would visibly display there anger.  And even if most people don't consider video games a big deal, there are some who consider it very important.  I'm not saying that that's good or okay, in this case I'm just saying that the reactions to such videos should be expected.  Those people are most prevalent in niche games/MMOs like this one. "
If you actually watched the video and listened to Vinny, he actually says he admires the fact that MxO has a nice group of dedicated players, or something to that effect. Regardless, just because they're making fun of the game does not mean they're making fun of the user base, and any player who jumps to that conclusion just might be a little over-protective of their game. I think this second video really shows that Ryan and Vinny are actually trying to play the game and not just be funny, which MxO player's should appreciate.

I have some very fond memories of playing MxO back when it was actually FUN.  Like all MMOs, it had a great community and i met a lot of interesting people while playing.  It also had an interesting story arc but i quit playing once i realized the writters were just pulling plot devices out of their ass.

Ryan and Vinny are not insulting the game, nor do they hate the playerbase. Playing a game and cracking jokes about what they see is not disrespectful, it's routine. They're new to the game and just jumping into it, which is how nearly all the quick looks are made. This is an homage to MxO, and they're putting a lot of time and effort into making these videos because the game is about to end. It's the commenters who are trashing the game, and trashing people who play it. Your question of 'how would you feel if giant bomb did a quick look of your favorite game' lost its logic when you implied that this game is seen negatively by anyone but comment posters, who don't represent Giant Bomb. If people are insecure enough about their game that they're offended by some wisecracks about stupid looking models or ugly buildings, then maybe they deserve to be made fun of.
