Reporting in from 2012, saying wow guys, you really wanted them to avoid the bad ending, didn't you?

All of these ER videos are just as good the 3rd time through!

Wow, surprised me when they ditched Daisoujou's magic barrier, I found it pretty useful.

Looking forward to Monday's (today's?) Deadly Premonition ER.

@atomic_dumpling: It actually can't happen. If you get the bad ending, there are no save points afterwards. You can never save in such a way that it locks you into an ending. So, no big deal. There's no problem at all.
Posted by BrockSampson

There are some of you that are way way to in to this whole thing. And are turning it into something that they have to do rather then something that is fun. I in no way shape or form believe they will go that far out of their way for anything in this game.

A few guys below said they should reload a save and try again. Do you honestly think they care that much. Think of the overall nature of this site. Do they really seem like the kind of guys who are going to play the back part of a JRPG over and over so they get the "good" ending. Ever wonder why they save over the previous save and only keep one save.

Posted by ZmillA

Stop worrying about their weaknesses so much when fusing guys.

for most of the personas you guys make  YOU AREN'T GOING TO USE THEM ANYWAYS

YOU AREN'T GOING TO USE THEM ANYWAYS.

you only use like 5 personas top (being generous) that leaves a bunch in the "give a fuck" category. Just make stuff and unless you can inherit good spells don't worry about their weaknesses or what they get. The game is almost over remember?

Exacxtly. Somehow people got in their heads that the bad ending will end the ER for good. The only risk I see is overwriting the savegame with a state after the bad ending. Why does Atlus allow for that to happen? Seems kinda dickish.

So tense!

Its always funny watching the endurance run and then reading some of the comments later about Vinny/Jeff's decisions. You can bet good money that someone somewhere always goes "OMG! What did you just do?!!" whenever they decide to get rid of a spell.

Posted by coffeesash

The spell you got rid of, Makarakarn, I used that in the next boss fight and all boss fights to reflect their spells to save myself and do a lot of damage to them soooo much! xD I think you need to draw that again :)

Step 1: Avoiding the Bad Ending

After a major plot point the investigation team will all be together and Yosuke will begin a series of questions addressed at the the Main Character. The last word that Yosuke will say to the MC before he starts answering will be "...Leader?" After that you must answer his following questions with the following responses. Mess up once and it's bad ending for you.

The Responses you should give to get on the True/Good ending path are...

  • First Question: Third Response
  • Second Question: First Response
  • Third Question: Third Response
  • Fourth Question: Second Response
  • Fifth Question: Third Response
  • Sixth Question: Second Response

Congratulations! You're now on the path to the True/Good Ending!

Step 2: Securing the Good Ending

A number of days after the above events, the Investigation Team will do what they do best. Investigate! You will run around Inaba Investigating the case when you will initiate another important decision point. You will find the MC with Naoto and Yosuke and you will have 3 chances to make the right decision. It shouldn't be to hard to figure it out, but if you need some help, it's on the third page.

Once you've made the right choice, CONGRATS! You've ensured the Good Ending!

0

Step 3: Achieving the True Ending

If you ensured the good ending and you continue through the game it will eventually jump ahead in the calendar. You will then need to go around and find each of your buddies that you maxed your social link with. leave no stone unturned.

Once you've talked to everyone, the game will prompt you to go home. Say no!

Now head over to Junes. The game will try to get you home again. Say no once again and get your ass the Junes!!!

Once you've done the. Huzzah! You've Started the True Ending! Have Fun!

SPOLIER FREE Jeff and Vinny!
Do NOT eff up please man!

Hope they see this. I want to see the true ending! "

THEY REAAAAALLLLLLYYYYYYY NEED TO SEE THIS

If all of us spent this much time watching them and they get anything less than the good ending...................lets just try not to think about it.

Sure do.  And lucky them; they should be able to figure out how Quad Coverage works faster.

I know that. I was suggesting they fuse those 3 personas together in order to get Mara.

@Turambar:  Well that's the last level of the game where you can get the most exp possible in the game, so of course you're going to level up fast. Though I have a hard time believing it only took 10 fights to get that high a level. At one point I had Chie in my party 10 levels lower than the rest of my characters and I brought her into the most recent dungeon, and it took her like 3 or 4 fights to even gain 1 level. A 50 level gap may get you a bunch of levels at first, but by level 60 or so those level gains would definitely start tapering off.

@evilpaul: It's definitely not impossible, the hardest part is really just getting past the first bad ending. Once you figure out the correct responses the rest is pretty simple.

During this encounter, will Rise tell them how the boss has changed automatically, or do they need Rank 10 for that?

@trimon:  Dude, that shit's weird.

Come on guys! I was hoping for a boss battle today, not some wussy fusing. Speaking of, they really need to lay down some ground rules for Persona 5 on fusing, because that shit's confusing as all get-out.
Posted by ricetopher

Just did some youtube research, and watched some guy beat the boss with a lvl 61 party (on cpu control too) using tactics that make J&V look like Persona masters...they should be fine as they are now.

Posted by anamanaman

Jeff, Vinny, don't puss out on us now! Fight the boss!

The fact that you guys haven't died in a while means you're way overleveled. Come on, there are save points everywhere. Why grind in order to have a cakewalk when the challenging battles are supposed to be the fun part? Who would want to watch the Detroit Lions play the Colts anyways?

So grow some balls and fight some bosses already!

I know! What happened to the love of fun, guys? It's way more exciting to see them come within an inch of defeat and pull through rather than just obliterating it.

The only Persona guide site I trust states that the level you should be at is between 61-64 for this fight. Yeah, they're on the lower side of that, but they're still up there. They've done more with less!
Posted by MiserableGerm

Sadly enough Heaven boss is 4x weak to the element he casts. That's something to remember.

Samsara is great for wiping out multiple enemies in one go.  It has a high SP cost, but it totally pays for itself and probably my most used spell.

Except it totally will. They could always leave Chie out for now then bring her back to fight higher-level enemies later. She'll catch up quickly and become awesome again.

Unless you do decide to level Kanji and Teddie (which I'm totally on board with), you really need to fuse that Mazionga onto something useful. Charlie's the sole lightning caster, and all you have are single spells.

Posted by ArmedDragoon

It's amazing how even though Jeff and Vinny have made it abundantly clear that they haven't been listening to the suggestions regarding party members and other such things, people still do it.

Seriously, knock it off. Their Endurance Run, their decisions. That's how it's been since episode 1 and that's how it will keep on going.

Posted by Mistral

Backseat fusion advice:
-Regenerate is crap. Never focus on passing it down.
-Invigorate isn't as useful as you think it is, unless you have Charlie do virually ALL of the casting for your party
-Growth isn't as useful as you think it is until you get Growth 3(persona gains as much xp when inactive as when it's active). I went through a phase of Growth 2 obsession too, but it's really NOT THAT HELPFUL, and it's a pain in the ass to pass down. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to yell at you when you pass up an awesome set of inherited skills just to get Growth 2.
-Don't ignore personas just because they have more than one weakness, especially when one is a regular elemental weakness and the other is light or dark.
-Stop hemming and hawing about whether to fuse away personas you never use(which is everything but Black Frost, Garuda, Hariti, White Rider, along with Daisoujou for future use. Samsara is that incredible.) and just DO IT
-Dump Rangda and start using Tam Lin or Daisoujou as your lighting caster. You can always pass on Repel Physical if you really like it, but Rangda's not worth it otherwise.
-If you see something neat that requires fusing one of the personas you DO use, remember you can always re-summon things later. Similarly, if you go "this persona is cool and we'll resummon it after fusing it", please remember to resummon it(unlike you did with Tam Lin)
-Black Frost is still okay, but he's nearing the end of his useful lifespan. You'll probably want to fuse him away after this boss is done.

They're going to bring Yukiko into the next boss fight for healing.

I'm not going to spoil anything of course, just watch out for those ice spells. It's not a difficult boss but it loves to dodge a lot. Good luck... for now.

The story behind Daisoujou is pretty heavy.  I got it from this wiki:
http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Daisoujou

"  These were monks who preformed self-mummification by starving themselves for about three years. At the end of these three years, they were entombed alive with just enough room to sit cross-legged. A tube was placed in the ground, leading to the tomb for air. The monk had a bell with him and everyday, someone would listen for the bell to make sure the monk was still alive. When the bell no longer ran, the air tube was removed and the tomb was completely sealed. A thousand days later, the body would be exhumed. If it was preserved, it was revered as a god."

I haven't watched today's episode, but I'm just saying. Chie with Power Charge + God Hand is a game breaker. Do it up you guys. Wooooo.

Posted by monkie89

If Vinny or Jeff is reading this, I'd just like to make a suggestion:

I HIGHLY recommend you guys fuse Throne + Jatayu (you could have fused him this episode I believe, he was the bird guy) + White Rider. You'll need to be level 62.

Now, the resulting Persona won't be particularly great or anything, but I GUARANTEE your reaction would be worth it (as long as you haven't seen it before, which you might have). The episode could be awesome for that alone.

@Zeik: Nah, not forever.  A good 10 fights in Magatsu Inaba brought my Yosuke from lv 25 to 73.  Having inate growth would be nice, but Exp scaling is the next best thing.
Posted by Zeik

As much as I am a fan of utilizing everyone, at this point, after going so long without doing that, it would just be a big waste of time. You'd have to grind forever for Kanji and Teddie to catch up, and I doubt you'd even really use them. (Maybe Teddie when see he's a much better Ice user than Chie.)

I would stop switching out Chie at this point too. Even though she does kind of suck at this point in the game, the longer you avoid using her the longer it will take for her to get her good skills and actually be useful. If you want to use Naoto, either switch out a different character, or stop using Chie and keep her in.

Hey Jeff or Vinny or whoever reads these comments, you guys need to pull Tam Lin back out, it was the best physical defense guy you had. It was the damage taker you cant leave home without it.
