Listening to Ryan talk about Australian accents reminds me of Blops.

Actually, they totally had a bit in Voyager where they said all the EMH Mark Is except the Doctor were reprogrammed for menial labour like cleaning starships and working in mines after they developed the superior Mk II holo-doctors.

I love how Ryan is just moving Brad along. BOUNCE!!

Oh man. When Vinny assumed Sulu knew karate it instantly reminded me of the Star Trek episode in Futurama when Sulu said "What makes you think I know karate? Is it because I'm asian?".

Damn, and I thought I'd be the first one to post that. Damn you, doddy, you've out-nerded me.

There's a big difference between racism and common stereotypes. Them looking up stuff online was definitely funny though heh.

I have a great Australian accent, thanks to Dingodile from Crash Bandicoot 3. I've managed to convince five people that I'm actually Australian.

I'm still lovin' these videos.  Keep'em coming for the duration of the Beta.
"...the martial arts of his culture..." as described in the Sulu bio in the Star Trek Compendium could also refer to Kendo, since we know that Sulu has Fencing training, he may have taken an interest in other sword techniques.

Seems to be a reflex from the On The Spot days for hiding bugs in a live demonstration.

Well, it's because Sirius and Regulus are both the names of stars.  The Sirius constellation looks like a dog, hence Sirius.  ALso, the Sirius satellite radio logo.  So, it's not really a coincidence, JK Rowling just named a ton of her characters based on astronomy/mythology.

Oh shit, I started 8 before 7. I gotta watch two of these now and won't have any time to play the game itself. Ah well....

EDIT: BRAD, THE TRIBBLE IS THE EQUIVALENT TO A BOTTOMLESS STACK OF HEALTH PACKS.

Killer Aussie accent Ryan.

When Vinnie says he saw something on TV, we'll all know he's not bullshittin'.  I think he sat out on the latter half cuz of Bradley & Ryan trying to make him look the fool.   Despite the odds, Vinnie won again.

Yeah, couldn't believe they didn't have some sort of Growl-esque or Firefox like toast notifications, then you can deal with them on the main Friends screen when you have time.

I mean, the UI seems so... janky.

I can't wait for Giantbomb's new video series: Brad Surfs the Internet!

Posted by TigerDX

You guys seemed to be unclear on this, but the text is nigh unreadable, even on high.

There needs to be a higher high-vision.

@bluesun:

Somewhat. There are more guys to vs when you group up and they tend to all attack one person, though having one or two extra guys won't be that bad. I think Brad stop grouping up because we lost horribly when we first encountered the Klingons. The comments said it was due to the other players who were on the group that joined automatically from the last mission, but weren't doing the same mission as us.

I tried to kick them out at that time but, the game was glitching and I couldn't kick them unless they were loading into an instance.

Nice video & agreed with Ryan on the lack of rings for Earth. BTW when you pull up inventory on ship you can get access to replicator buy more pancakes, hypos, ect. I noticed that too where certain vendors are asking for funny things & can't buy from them but the ones in requisitions on the starbase (as well as the club) will let you buy things for the common currency.
Posted by Lind_L_Taylor

Ahhh, the most productive video on GB.  Yes!

Posted by gakon

Note that items sold through the Replicator are worth less than if you sell them directly to a person on a spacedock.  So if you have something valuable, don't sell it from your ship, because you'll make less money.

Brad.  GUYS.  DUDES.  For the love of all that is holy, press the scan button (upper right quad above the star fleet symbol)  The new patch made this feature awesome.   I keep yelling at my monitor for you guys to do this!  :)

Also, use the group target button in ground combat (upper left grouping of icons,  it looks like a target).  It makes everyone target an enemy and attack him, or if it's a friend, they buff that target.

Also!  Go buy or some different officers and get some different skill sets.   Sub some of them in your assignment slots.   Some space combat skills like BRACE FOR IMPACT or BOARDING PARTY are ..dare i say... boss.

This advice is free, and Canadian.
Huzzah.

I love the concept of MMOs, but other than EVE (which I don't have time for these days), they don't really have what it takes to keep me excited beyond the first couple weeks. I end up regretting that i paid $50+ for the box and then however much for the subscription. I hope each one is going to "do it for me" and then I realize it's just the last MMO I played in a different skin.

So that said, I wouldn't pay $50 plus $15/mo for Star Trek Online. I would, however, pay $5/mo for the enjoyment of watching you guys play it for an hour a day while I just watch and listen to the commentary.

Yes but it's not just "martial arts," it's the "the martial arts of his native culture".

Presumably that would mean he is at least somewhat versed in Karate.

Did I miss something in the previous couple of episodes? How come Brad isn't rolling around with the Space Lobsters anymore? You two waved and then went separate ways...?

Does it pay to solo?
Posted by Vager

I actually type out /wave and then remembering you had to type /emote wave. Annoying as hell.

Also, who would of thought Google searching would be entertaining.
Posted by Ragdrazi

Everyone who knows karate is racist.
Posted by masterpaperlink

omg that google tip was amazing

Posted by Adziboy

First of all, :( :( two un-smileys for the absence of Dave in the past two videos. Him and Vinny work so well together, and it's hilllarriioouuss. Nothing against Ryan, but him + MMO's is kinda similar to me; try to be as efficient as possible. I'll spend hours researching the class, race or whatever I'm gonna be playing and make sure I'm using the best possible spec. Hey, it's retarded sure, but heck, it's damn effective. All my WoW/Dragon Age characters were fucking awesome.

Also, I thought I'd point out that I, for one, cannot see text in the video. Some things I can make out, but not a lot.

When I hear that "Kahn!" soundbite at the start of the videos all I think of is Octale & Hordak Versus the World.

Surely someone knows what I'm talking about.

I love the middle section of this video, searching the web for Sulu karate references. Brilliant stuff.

Oh man lol.  You know what's funny. On that first page they pulled up on StarTrek.com it says:

"Sulu was an active hobbyist with interests including fencing, botany, and the martial arts of his native culture;"

It's under his whole time timeline part of his Starfleet Career Summary thing... fourth paragraph.

Somebody above beat me to it!!
