These games are awesome, but goddamn it I wish the tone of the actual game was as consistent (or maybe just as successful) as it is in their trailers. 
 
But if it ends up pulling out the "teaming together to fight a greater enemy twist!" I will eat my goddamn hat.

Why do people keep talking about Gears 2 as some horrible game? I think Gears 2 is way better than Gears 1. I actually stopped playing Gears 1 about 3/4 of the way through due to some of it's bad design. For instance, can you defend that horrible night-time portion?
 
On the other hand, Gears 2 kept me happy all the way til the end. Sure it didn't change a lot of stuff, but neither do the Halo games and people don't complain about Halo 3 (as much). It was just the way Gears 1 SHOULD have been. 
 
Now if you have problems with the multiplayer, I have no comment. I never touched the multiplayer outside of playing coop with my wife.

They are setting up the world your playing in since everythings gone to shit whit the last human city destroyed(you thought you saved it in GOW2, Ha! think again).
It has nothing to do whit it being an character drama or anything like that. They are setting up the hopeless situation your in when picking up GOW3.
You seem to mistake that just because someone is doing an action game they automaticaly have to be explotions and boobs.
Also, this was first shown on national TV. What kind of trailer would fit better on TV? One whit gore, guts and explotions or this. Think a bit before you open your... keyboard?

It's the multiplayer people have the beef with. The single player was definitely better.  
 
I played hundreds of hours of Gears 1, and less than a day's worth of Gears 2. It was a total shambles, matchmaking didn't work and when it did it was mega laggy, it was the worst multiplayer experience I've had on the 360. It was fixed eventually but I could never get into it like Gears 1. I doubt they'll go backwards with Gears 3, and I have no intentions of playing Gears 2 style multiplayer again.

I'm not really seeing the whle "it's Dom with a beard!" thing, it doesn't look much like him to me. Then again, all the other character designs have changed, so who knows. Still, I reckon thats Adam Fenix, and its about time we finally got a clear-cut low down on that guy.

 I love Gears, and the trailers always carry a 'desperate last stand' message, as if there's very little chance of you winning. Then you play Gears and there's none of that. Instead it's an awesome party of loud guns, gibs and "Woo! Yeah baby!"
 
I really hope they get the feel of this trailer into the final game.
