Dude at the beginning's shoulder pads are fucking FABULOUS.

It looks like a freakin mini game! Space combat is a HUGE part of the Star Wars narrative, and their giving it about as much importance as the arcade machine in Raynors ship! Still, I'll totally buy this game. Weak sauce though Bioware, weak sauce.
" Star Wars Fox: The Old Republic: Adventure: Slippy's Ransom "Sometimes I wish GiantBomb had a Facebook-ish Like button.
Looks like a Wii Version of Tie Fighter
I reckon it looks alright.
Its not the part of the game I'm most interested in - but it looks decent enough to add a bit of variety when playing.
" wait wait wait, an mmo with space combat that looks like rogue squadron?!? ok you win this round bioware. "I think its actually more rail shooter like Star Fox 64.
Are there only asteroid fields in space?
I guess for my ideal Star Wars MMO, I'd basically want Shadowbane-style battles (i.e. players fight and take control of other players' cities, or, in this case, planets) combined with Battlefront-style combat, somehow balanced to include the ridiculous number of Jedi and Sith that'd be running around, and simultaneous ground and space battles that you could move between (as in defending forces might start on the ground, hop in a ship, and fly out into orbit to do space combat, or stay on the ground and wait to duke it out on the battlefield).
Seems to me that that's not the game we're talking about, so while I still may be interested in playing (it is Star Wars, after all), I'm not sure exactly how good this game's gonna be.
Space combat also seems like a skip for me, especially since I've played Rogue Squadron I, II, and III, and Jedi Starfighter II, and Battlefron II, all of which had excellent space combat.
Seems like a wasted opportunity to include a "x-wing / tie fighter" view. I guess people wanna play dress up with their ships tho.
wait a minute, that actually looks kinda fun
where did all these vids come from!!
wait wait wait, an mmo with space combat that looks like rogue squadron?!? ok you win this round bioware.
I didn't say anything bad about the LEGO Star Wars games, not as far as i know. I said the animated series "clone wars" was bad, and the games based on them. Its fine that you enjoy the newer Star Wars stuff, i just don't. I'm one of those idiots who thinks of Star Wars as a Trilogy still, and disregards everything after the movies 4,5,6. The same way as i see Indiana Jones. But i really don't see that space combat fitting in the main game, looks way too arcady, but if more people share your opinion Bioware succeeded by adding it to TOR, and i'm in the minority. But i can live with that. "The animated Clone Wars series is by far the best thing to come from Star Wars since Return of the Jedi.. Including any books and videogames. It started out badly with a very rushed together "movie" but the series has been getting progressively better and better. The last few episodes of the first season were amazing, and the entire of the second season was pretty brilliant.

Honestly, if you only see movies 4,5, and 6, and nothing else, Star Wars would be really boring.
Star Wars Fox: The Old Republic: Adventure: Slippy's Ransom
Smoke trails in space? Fires in a vacuum? God that looked terrible.
Yes!!! This is Galaxy's true revival!
" Sorry, but those just crying out Star Fox (!!!) should just play that then. Star Fox isn't Star Wars or vica versa. Seriously, one gets the notion that those who played Star Fox never played the proper Star Wars space combat games. "They say that because it will play like star fox, not other Star Wars games like Rogue Squadron, its going to be a semi-on rail shooter like Star Fox. Its been confirmed by Bioware already.
for all you stupid ass haters go play on ur xbox 360/ps3 this game isn't out for another year sooooo i would think that they fix the "issues" ... also did i mention you should go play on ur xbox 360/ps3?
" Framerate was super dodgy for a trailer "Yeah I noticed that also. Thought to myself...If they can't even play it back at a smooth framerate, then my comp def is not going to.
They should have just copied the space combat from the Rogue Squadron games, i don't see why that wouldn't have worked. Either way I'm glad space combat is in the game :)
Rebel assault. In an MMO.
Were people asking for this?
On rails shooters can be fun they can make more things happen on the path your on.
That was kinda painful.
Looks... like... ass
Please god don't be mandetory.
This is just got instances right?
I mean, its a linear path. No way this is multiplayer.
Yeah, it's on rails but I'm okay with it since it's a launch feature. I don't think Bioware needs to burden the player with every minute potential game play component right from the start. They should make sure what they have in the game works well first then add on more abilities to the game including more varied space combat.
DUDE! I have been waiting SOOOOOOOOOOOOO long for a Rogue Squadron MMO!!!!
Sorry, but those just crying out Star Fox (!!!) should just play that then. Star Fox isn't Star Wars or vica versa. Seriously, one gets the notion that those who played Star Fox never played the proper Star Wars space combat games.
Framerate was super dodgy for a trailer
I'm a bit skeptical of how this fits into the structure of an mmo, but I'm going the wait and see route before passing judgement. It could turn out awesome if implemented well.
I appreciate the attempt .
" Meh, still has nothing on Guild Wars 2. Maybe if the space combat was like the X-Wing games on the Gamecube :). "
They nailed using the laser sound.... meh. Would be nice variety but hopefully it ends up being fun and not something you have to do every time you travel between destinations.
" The more I see of this game the more boring it looks. "I don't think the space combat looks particularly bad.. Very Star-foxy, which is a good thing. But as others have said, it doesn't really seem to fit in very well here. The game feels very mish-mashed to me, the multiplayer, flying and story elements feel very seperate and isolated. Hopefully the final game flows better than what we've seen.
So, the space combat is basically Rebel Assault? That's weird, but I don't know if it's weird-good or weird-bad.
" At least it's not another pre-rendered bioware trailer. Kind of getting sick of them not revealing gameplay or ingame graphics. It's one thing to build up your game with hype, but when you compare the E3 pre-render trailer to this gamescom trailer, you're kind of left with uncertainty towards the game's polish. Their budget for Blur Studio creating them these beautiful pre-rendered trailers has to come close to the budget for the rest of the game. "Thats kinda unfair ... for the point of development they are in they are releasing a normal ammount of gameplay footage ... from what I know there were the 2 huge cinematic trailers, and those got the job done: generating attention for the game.
Finally some modestly interesting gameplay. Gummy fighters MMO.
What is the big live show thing all about
Playing FFXIV instead.
THE SPACE COMBAT IS STAR FOX.
Looks very arcade for MMO
Star Fox did it better
Space Combat indeed! Damn this game is going to be epic
