Though, I must stress the importance of a special or limited edition having a steelbook(tm) game case rather than being put in a large cardboard box with the retail gamecase and a art book.

I don't think this qualifies as a gun.
Plus you have to remember we got the replica of Bayonetta's gun.  For free  ;)

I can confirm that such a gun does exist. I held it at New York Comic Con 2010 at the Dead Space 2 booth! 
 
Pulling the trigger causes some white LED lights at the top to blink, it seems pretty cool.

We banned FUNCTIONAL guns, because we value safety to some extent. 
I highly doubt this is going to be a fully functional plasma cutter :P

I'm sure someone will mod one to do that and it will make for a fine Kotaku story, but pack-in things like this tend to be made as cheaply as possible and do nothing but look good.  At the very most it will make sounds.
 
EDIT: Now that I've seen a closer image of it, there appear to be LEDs on it, and there is a clear space in the middle of it where it could be made to rotate the front half.  It does remind me of a Nerf gun mod though.
