Already liking the more varied environments.

I enjoyed the first one for a few weeks, but it just didn't have any staying power for me. It was also horribly unbalanced, because if you went against a team that had 2-3 tanks that knew what they were doing there was nothing you could do to fight back but spam the same thing.

Also, the original MNC has some nice verticality to the level design. Has that been removed completely? I don't see any evidence of it in this video.

I saw lots of upper levels. Granted no-one was up there but yeah.

Looks like I'll be buying a new PC this holiday.

I am displeased with the change in art style.

The "arena" visual design of Monday Night Combat was one of its selling points. Earthy environments with robots doesn't even make sense.

Also, the original MNC has some nice verticality to the level design. Has that been removed completely? I don't see any evidence of it in this video.

What about the mascot? is it still in the game? that dance was hilarious!

@President_Barackbar: Hmm I guess when you put it that way, it makes a bit more sense. I could never get into the gameplay of DOTA and hence, the countless clones that popped up in the last 2 years always failed to grab my interest for too long. MNC was special because it was a DOTA third person shooter, and believe me, I can play a third person shooter no problemo.

I guess that's why I'm completely fine with this. I love the concept behind DOTA, so if SMNC is gonna basically go down the DOTA path more, for me that's what's completely exciting.

To each their own I guess, eh? :)

@Stubee: I think your green name pretty much sums up how much that opinion is worth.
Posted by Stubee

Does this count as a MOBA, or is it disqualified because it actually looks fun?

Posted by ProfessorEss

Looks awesome.

@G0rd0nFr33m4n:

I concur, it's pretty great!

It would be strange if SMNC does not end up on Steam, seeing as the original is on there.

So this is coming out on the SNES?

Clearly this is supposed to be a joke of some sort, but the meaning is lost on me...

Super is a prefix used on many SNES games.

Yeah, I actually realized that a while after making the post.  I wasn't really thinking about the name when I read that.

So tired of trailers with this kind of epic music that is completely unjustified by the tone of the actual game.

I actually thought it was funny, and I think that might have been the point.

MNC's pretty good, but I still feel like it has some significant balance issues when making the obvious comparison to TF2.

What balance are you talking about? Have you played TF2 recently?! It hasn't been balanced properly since vanilla days in my opinion and now with it being used as a marketing platform by valve it's a complete clusterf***.
Posted by zipperface

They say the track in the teaser was written for the game but I could swear I've heard it elsewhere.

Posted by scottygrayskull

Very nice, although I still wish they actually supported the 360 MNC. :(

No love for XBLA too bad, well at least its free to play on steam.

Posted by bennym6

Wish this was on XBLA big fan of first game :(

i loved monday night combat. i pray they dont let anyone use cash to make them better in the game. please please please just cash for non game changing stuff!

Posted by Addfwyn

Got something of a 'Valve making Global Agenda' feel from the aesthetic of it...and I'm not typically a fan of valve aesthetics. That said, never played the original MNC, so it may be worth giving this a shot.

Posted by President_Barackbar

@Zereta: Because those games were made by the DOTA guys and are more like sequels to DOTA. I get that MNC is something different and let me reiterate, I LIKE MNC, I just don't think that copying DOTA even more is what MNC really needed. That's my problem is that they ARE trying to copy it too much.

Posted by Zereta
@President_Barackbar: So how is this less acceptable than those other DOTA like games that all look and play exactly the same way? i mean, at least these guys are trying a different gameplay approach.
Posted by President_Barackbar

@onimonkii: @Zereta: @TimFReilly: I played the game, I know its DOTA inspired. But at least MNC felt like its own game. This new update changes the environments (jungles like DOTA), the new characters look like they are DIRECT ripoffs of LoL archetypes (at least the original MNC featured classes only loosely based on MOBA archetypes), and it seems like the way they want to monetize the game is exactly like LoL.

Not thrilled at the new Mike Tyson-style facial tattoo on the Gunner.

*has no clue why there's so much hate*

MNC was fun and this is more MNC for free... I cant see the problem. Plus, the Steam version was better supported anyway - and they will prob release on 360 later, as this option has not been ruled out anywhere.

As for the trailer, fuck the music (although I dont mind it) - the main thing is it was almost all actual gameplay, which can only be a good thing. My gripe is that it doesnt really highlight the important things - like map layouts and new skills. Then again, it does show the new classes.

Shrug - at minimum, as a free to play game, I shall be trying it out.

TEAM UBER.

Posted by lockwoodx

The music did not match the art style of that game at all. It was rather stupid.

Posted by BabyChooChoo

Sold. MNC was great already and this looks even better. I have so much love for the Uber guys, that depending on how much they charge for the extra tidbits, I'm willing to buy everything they can crank out.

Super disappointed that their way to make the game more popular is to just make a LoL third person shooter.

Did you want them to make a different game than the original? The first one was a 3rd person DOTA...

Posted by Razor

What a depressing ass theme song for an F2P game that's an FPS DotA.  Whatever, best of luck competing with LoL or TF2.

You do know that this is basically a sequel to a game before this that was awesome as well, right?
Posted by BelligerentEngine

With the amount of big Samoan looking dudes they've modeled for this game I'd imagine the developers must listen to a lot of Boo Ya Tribe.

Well they sold me on this. Ik its free to play, but I will buy something just to support them for it.

Posted by G0rd0nFr33m4n

I played the original game for 111 hours before forcing myself to stop playing it so I could tackle my 60+ game back-catalog. I love UBER-E for making this game, and look forward to playing it.

P.S. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, put it on STEAM, Steam is awesome !

Posted by moondogg

If the first MNC had of worked when I bought it and actually wanted to play it, I might be interested in this, but unfortunately that kind of tainted my experience, or lack of as the case were. But hell its free I'll give it a crack.
Posted by Coreymw

I wish other games took themselves less serious and made ironically epic trailers like this. I've never had an inclination to play this game until now. All due to the cool trailer.
