I'm tired of seeing this heavy set troll.

A fascinating, and funny read. Really glad to hear about Double Fine's success after what seemed to be dark days ahead.

I can look at this picture all day, and laugh every time. How awesome is this man's face?

That expressions is almost worth the $1.6 Million!

looking forward to the game, I played through most of the old school adventure games, including Tims.

I bet you're quite the catch too.

No matter how many times I see this I'm still filled with a sense of awe.

Wow, that is very impressive.

I thought I was a socialist at heart but I have to admit I feel like I'm on the extreme right wing at the moment due to the large amount of people indicating that earning money and getting out there doing something of your own is basically a sin or whatever. Christ, I'd almost prefer they got less dollars during the kickstart just to shut up you guys. And come on, why the f. compare this to a charity? If you're going to start walking down that road you can start with the rich bastards that think 1.6 million buckaroos is a good party budget instead of whining here. Its obvious that many of you guys werent living the good lucasarts times during the 90's because everyone I know that did would say: "Cheers, good for him/them!" Why the negativity?

Where could a person acquire a legitimate digital copy of Day of the Tentacle?

@umdesch4: Hmmm, I think I'd rather wait for the inevitable Telltale re-release, or at least for it to appear on some digital platform. Digging up old CD-ROMs is not a path I'm ready to walk down just to fill in my gaming history gaps. But thanks for the link!

@OriginalGman: Yeah, I got on an Ultima kick last year, and played through 1-4 (much easier in this day and age of walkthroughs!) using packaged up dosbox versions from GoG. It was fun, but glitchy as hell on my machine. With so much current stuff I'm behind on, I'm hesitant to go through that experience again. Proper re-releases are the way I'd go now.

Day of the Tentacle is a LucasArts game, so I wouldn't hold your breath, they've shown no interest in releasing any of their old games digitally. At least not lately, that company is a mess right now.

DOTT is pretty much the one game in the world I'd really like to see a remake of. Must be 15-16 years since I played it! Still remember that awesome, weird triangular box :D (dont ask about the dragon. I havent got a clue).

Bet a pristine version of that box would fetch a neat price at this day and age.

Give Double Fine $150,000 and a shrinkwrapped copy is yours (along with a whole mess of other goodies)...

This kinds of articles is what I love of GiantBomb.

I pray that everything goes well for Tim.

I think Double Fine in a niche studio, probably why brutal legend was a mixed success. But there's so much love for their niche games.

Thank you GB for this story! I'm now a double-fine backer and would have died if I'd missed it!

Close to $2 million at this point, but it's been slowing doing for the last couple of days. My guess is that the project will end at about $2.3 million.

How the hell did you manage to add epic to EPIC?!?!?

Posted by dudeglove

As of time of writing, they're less than eight thousand dollars from hitting 2 million.

@dudeglove:

Do you reckon they'll sell any copies at this point?

the people who want the game will have paid for it already...

Uh... that was sort of the point to begin with. It'll probably get promoted through the ass on steam, and maybe end up in one of those indie bundles further down the line.
