Because you guys kept talking about the game, I finally bought it...holy shiiiiiet! Not everyday I get to see some new stuff!

Posted by LiK

so glad Vinny was in this. GOTTA KEEP GOING! XD

This quicklook and the conversations on the bombcast made me check out this game and I'm glad I did. Anyone curious about the game should really give it a shot as it was like nothing I had ever played before. Watching the game on youtube takes away from the feeling you get while playing. You'd think it would be boring simply pressing button prompts to continue the cut scenes, but there's nothing like building up a Burst to do something amazing.

Kind of conflicted myself on this. I absolutely hate the Bleach and DBZ type of animes, have no real love for One Piece or Naruto, yet I love Devil May Cry and Bayonetta. Though it aims for the DBZ fighting anime it's still short and focused. Damn it, I am really interested in this but my wallet will kill me if I do another spontaneous purchase.

I just love the smell of deicide in the mornin'. *Chomps cigar*

if only this was an endurance run, that would have been awesome

Posted by Jeffk38uk

It's like they are trying to make Gurren Lagaan;esc anime as a videogame but back as an anime that you interact with. And that's hella cool.

Posted by BonOrbitz

This looks like a lot of fun, but I can't see myself paying sixty bucks for it. Man, that music during the interludes is so beautiful.

Posted by BlackPeople

I just can't see the appeal of this.

Posted by OMGmyFACE

I wouldn't pay full price for this but you can be damn sure I will own and play this to my heart's content. Man, this game is absurd.

Looks pretty boring.

Is this from the same team that did God Hand for the PS2?

No, the God Hand people made Vanquish and Bayonetta later.

This game looks amazingly fun, if only it didn't also seem too short I'd consider a purchase. Alas, I will have to find someway to rent this.

Posted by thepotatoman

really funny that brad set this up to be anime heavy rain both during the podcast and for the first 5 minutes of this quick look, and 30 minutes in there has only been 2 actual quick time events and 3 battle scenes. Maybe he should have either done a bit more research or play for more then 30 minutes before deciding that was the narrative to cover this game on.

Posted by OverlordOutpost

Well, this rather solidly convinced me to buy the game.

Game looks awesome

I'm not sure what I just saw, but I think it's awesome.

In a world where Bayonetta doesn't exist, I can see this game being much more appealing.

EDIT: Though I have to say, some of the camera work is very impressive!

Bayonetta was no more near as awesome. Scope wise and artistically this game has it beat. It even has a far more entertaining story in my opinion. Then again, I thought Bayonetta was pretty bad.

They're doing quick looks of slightly interactive anime now?

@MrKlorox: What?

There's nothing wrong with serif fonts. Depends on the application.

Serif fonts are typically harder to read on a screen than non serif fonts. All those extra thin horizontal lines constantly make me second guess letters unless I'm right up on the screen. It's especially bad when the vertical lines are also rather thin. However a good bold serif font can be just fine (the Tested logo for example), though that's rarely the case with Japanese games. For some reason thin serif fonts are not as difficult to read in actual print. Maybe it has something to do with the dpi. Merely a pet peeve of mine.

This seems slightly odd to me. Part of the point of serifs are for legibility. With serifs, you could cover up the bottom two thirds of every letter in a sentence and still read it.

As to whether or not non-serif fonts have a better visual presentation in block / body format is a different matter.

I really like the art of this game and the fighting stuff and the QTEs but the episode and the story during the illustrations are just weird, I would play it if it was on PC.

edit: Is one of the voice actors the one from Illidan in world of warcraft, I get a YOU ARE NOT PREPARED vibe from it, don't know it it's Asura or the big fat dude.

edit 2: yep I was right Asura is voiced by Liam O'Brien which is Illidan Stormrage and War in Darksiders, this dude is in a lot of stuff!!

Sooooooooooo japanese Heavy Rain + God of War + Alan Wake presentation = Asura's Wrath?

Doesn't sound so bad.

Alan Wake presentation? Um.... what?

Edited by SatelliteOfLove

This isn't saying much, but Japan is winning the fight in the "turgid, press random button to continue the show" genre.

Yet, because it's in this genre, it still bites.

If this was an anime, I would 100% watch it.

It's like someone at Capcom played Heavy Rain, did all the hits of LSD in the world, and came up with a game.

I like.

it's like Heavy Rain + Dragon Ball Z + half remembered reading of Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny + Japan

After watching this quick look, I think I will pick this up before summer's end.

Pleasantly surprised at the way this game turned out. Looking forward to picking it up at a nice price.

Posted by VikingChux

This Quick Look had me pretty much sold on the game...but definitely going to wait for it to drop in price, considering how much else is coming out around this time.

Really appreciate how many different elements they'll toss into the game. Panzer-Dragoon ish sequences, brawler, QTEs, pseudo-controlled cinema. Well maybe that's it, but it's enough for me to appreciate!

Edited by MrKlorox

Ugh... dammit Japan, stop with the serif fonts already. It's not that difficult. When deciding the font, check to see if it has serifs; if it does, CHOOSE AGAIN.

Also left stick reticule control.

I won't spend $60 on this game, but I sure as hell will watch a Let's Play.

You can tell that they don't understand how anime works.

Who really does, though?

I'm refering to the set up to episodes, and what happens next parts.

Not the guy with the 6 arms smashing a finger.

Yeah because every game is designed for you. Fuck off.

No, tell us how you really feel, Lobster.

This was actually a pretty entertaining game! Its basically just an interactive anime

Edited by defcomm

Vinny no longer keeps up with DBZ games? An end of an era.

edit: having watched the entire video

WHAT WAS THAT OMG THIS QUICKLOOK IS AMAZING

Posted by Lifendz

I thought it looked great. Not sure why Brad felt the need to sh!t on it the whole time. "It's just one big long QTE....I bet you have to burst to continue...What are you game?!"

I just ordered a copy. Can't wait to try it out.

Posted by Rox360

I... I actually wanna know what happens next.... What is the story behind this game, anyway? It's almost like someone wanted to make a season-long anime but knew it wouldn't be aired anywhere, so they designed it to be a video game instead, because those sell on shelves by default...

Anyway, I might have to do something with this, because I really wanna see what insanity goes on next. I don't care about the "playing" parts, but I just... I wish this was an endurance run, basically.

The guy voicing Asura keeps popping up for me recently. First FFXIII-2, then this, and I'm going back to Dissidia 012 since getting my Vita, and he voices Kain in that, which is weird considering how he and Lightning talk a lot in that game as well.

Liam O'Brien, he also did War in Darksiders, Akihiko in Persona 3 and Grimoire Weiss in Nier. Dude can ham it up with the best of them.

Somewhat interesting to watch but overall a boring game with 0 replay-ability. It's why I preferred to rather watch God of War 3 gameplay on youtube than play it myself and bother with "press button" gameplay.

Yeh it sucks when you have to press buttons.

Got bored in the beginning but right about the time when Asura got buttstomped by a huge, fat guy... I was sold.
