You guys need to play this game with japanese vocals...it's AMAZING
Looks very entertaining. I don't know about the $60 price tag, but I'll definitely be watching a Let's Play of this, haha!
Liam O'brien FTW!
Also, I judge it'll get 3 stars from Brad. It definitely seems more like a rental than anything.
Make up your mind, Brad. In about every quick look you say something along the lines of "don't know if I like this game/mechanic/style/anything", Vinny says "I like it" and then you suddenly say "yeah, it's kind of neat" or "you're right".
I don't want to sound mean or anything. It happens every time. Defend your opinion! Or make up your mind before you say stuff.
I just can't hate this game, even with all the quicktime events I just love the stuff it does well so much. Also yes the VO is Liam O'brien, angry/angsty anime VO extrordinair, one of few english dub anime vos who actually does a good job.
Looks like Asura's Wrath could have been a fun "greatest hits of anime" movie but the actual game part of this game looks like garbage. I still kind of want to play it, I guess?
I will be picking this up when it drops to $15-$20. Looks like it could be a fun mindless, set to easy mode, afternoon.

@Kanji: I think you may be confused about the purpose of this site, which is mainly to let us play and show off games and talk about what we think of them. Perhaps your interests would be better served elsewhere?
I actually see the site as a form of entertainment. I don't care about Asura's Wrath, but listening to someone talk about why they think a game is lame for about an hour isn't all that entertaining. The second half of the Quick Look was fun, since it seemed to be more about embracing whatever the game was trying to do and not talking about how it may or may not be worth sixty dollars.
I thought this was a great QL and I loved the fact that neither of them played the demo, it made their reactions to the boss fight pretty amazing. I'm probably going to get this, maybe I'll wait for a price drop, maybe I won't, but I need to experience this... thing.

@ErikSchroder: Half the Quick Looks we record are done while we're still in the process of forming an opinion. It's a valid request in cases where we've already finished the game before we do any video with it, but here I had played like an hour of this before we sat down to shoot it.
Yeah, I was just about to say, this looks almost as good as Ultimate Ninja Storm. Which is probably the prettiest anime-style game out there.
This interactive anime thing is a pretty good idea. Seems neat. It's about the same price of an anime DVD/Blu-ray.
voiceactor for asura sounds like war from darksiders. Seems like a cool game if it was on sale in the future.
I'm actually interested in this. Not $60 interested. Bargain bin interested.
This looks like an anime that nobody wanted to put on TV, so they put it on video game consoles.

@Winternet: apparently other reviewers have pegged this one to be about 6-10 hours long and found it bloody hard to review since they loved the ride that the game was, but yo its 60 dollars, its actually reviewing decently well (7s and 8s) , and it currently has a higher meta critic score than syndicate,
Well that seems more reasonable. I bet that after finishing the campaign there's really not much to do. As long as people are ok with that, it seems like a great game.

I'll take one of these over five call of duties any day. I don't understand what part of being entertained the shit out of isn't why we're in this hobby to begin with. Shifty value proposition my ass. SOLD.
This was a fun QL, this game seems crazy bananas. Like the kind of game to pick up on the cheap and at least experience once. Wish it would have launched at $40 or something like that. I'll for sure pick this up once the price drops.
Liam O' Brien is a pretty rad voice actor. He did War in Darksiders as well as Grimoire Weiss in Nier.

That's what reviews are for; not Quick Looks.
@Brad: I really hope you get to write that review.
And don't worry Brad. The people that value your opinion vastly outnumbers the ones that don't.
by the way, I just watched your video review of Jak II. Whoah :)

No, quick looks are intended to provide a brief overview of the experience one might expect if they purchase the game while not going as in-depth as a full review. Sounds like buying advice to me.

Quick Looks are for whatever we want them to be for.

If you played the game for only an hour, I don't want your buying advice on it. When you have played the full game and have a fully formed opinion, then I'll care what you have to say about buying it or not.
The weird cuts in-between some scenes were the bumpers. That's how anime series work, you get a bumper before and after the commercial break in the middle of an episode.
I think I'll wait as well for it to go cheap but man I really love this QL as I was laughing every time something crazy happens. For some reason it has some Fist of the North Star vibe. which is why I really like how crazy things get. I'm surprised Vinny didn't say "You're already dead" at the end.
It's not 20 minutes of exposition, Brad... It's the game.
Think of it as you are playing Road Avenger or Heavy Rain
Also BURSSS BURSSS BURSSS
This is totally their take on an anime, complete with a commercial break in the middle. And then, when you come from commercial, it repeats the last few seconds of the episode to catch you back up. And then they have the "Next time on..." at the end of the episode. It looks just interactive and crazy enough to be fun to play.
