This sequel is getting a lot more support than the original Epic Mickey did, Spector himself said around 700 people are involved, which is the most serious Disney has ever gotten behind a game. I'm a fan of Spector, so with Disney getting its shit together for this sequel sounds great.

This could be good if they fix the camera, the platforming, and make the game more interesting to play. The musical thing could be cool if done right- that's never been attempted before. I don't know why, call me cynical, but I have my doubts.

Never played Epic Mickey, but still I appreciate Spector's work. Also love this vid that mega64 just posted this week.

The problem with the environments was completely because of the Wii though. Even just looking at the artwork, you can tell they wanted the game to be huge and the idea of being able to explore a twisted version of Disney World was super appealing for me. But because of the technical limitations, the areas are all very small, there's no detail and no sense of exploration or wonder. On the 360 or PS3, that wouldn't have been a problem.

The idea of gaming musicals is great. I hope they figure out how to make them interactive instead of having cutscenes between levels or guitar hero style button presses.

Imagine having to jump between a bunch of platforms that make music when you jump on them and you have to jump on them in a certain order to create a musical beat as Mickey and Oswald sing along.

I loved the Disney movies of the 80s and 90s where characters would just sing about everything. Movies like Aladdin, Lion King and Beauty and the beast had great musical scenes.

Seems cool, I like musicals, and I like not playing games on a Wii.

Although that's a god-awful title. Having "2" and "Two" in a title is really cumbersome.

Considering that SMG 1 & 2 are probably the best in the genre, to have made Epic Mickey like the way they did is not something you can blame on the Wii really. Like goddamn, that felt like a mid-life PS2 platformer for all the wrong reasons. I wanted to like it so bad.

Anyway, a little off what they're doing with the sequel, but I wish Warren Spector would go ahead and make something I could get interested in.

The Nightmare Before Christmas game that had interactive musical portions was....okay? I don't really remember much of it. But I liked Epic Mickey, even if I didn't get a perfect ending. >:C

A musical? This could be the most amazing game ever... I think it would've been cool to have the second player not talk though. Having communication through animation along with voice (like WALL-E) would have been cool.

I really should get around to playing the first, but I love most things Disney, so I'll give this a shot somewhere down the line. A musical sounds pretty interesting.

I don't know what "the characters will constantly break into song" means for a video game, but I love Disney and I love their musical segments, so I don't see how this can be a bad thing.
 
The one thing I was really hoping for, however, is for an Epic Mickey game on the HD twins to look more in line with that insane concept art for EM1. Probably not gonna happen.

I will start judging this when the first trailer releases. Like I did last time, when I saw the game and said "That looks bad." Not sure why nobody really believed me on that one.

I only care about song when it's done well. But we ARE talking about disney so...

Never played the first one, but I am strangely excited for this.

The first images of Epic Mickey... Were EPIC! Dark... Now that would have been amazing, but no they turned it into a cheesy cartoony game that just won't sell.

I like WS's intentions here. It's the artistic road of evolving yourself. Writer charlie kaufman wrote the incredible 'eternal sunshine of the spotless mind' and then he matured and made Synecdoche, New York and arguably more heavy handed film that intentionally lacked the vitality of ESOTSM. This is a bad comparison at first glance, since epic mickey is a traversal into "childrens imaginations via an unfortunately conventional means" and SNY was the polar opposite. However I find both to be elementally similar.

It's the creator of something exploring a side of themselves they earned. Warren likely takes a lot of this from connections of love, and CK more is weary eyed journey.

My problem with this artist evolution, is that I generally find the 'younger less wise' approach to construct new ground - and these 'evolved' approaches feel like more of a whim.

Deus ex stands as one of the greatest games of all time, and I would argue ESOTSM is one of the best films. Does this mean we need new talent to further innovate? Possibly. I always hoped that a man of 40 or 50 could be that same youthful innovator.

Musical just screams "younger audience" to me.

I kind of want to play this game.  I honestly think the first game was held back by the limitations of the Wii.  I also liked Epic Mickey.  It was flawed but it had an interesting story and was a great bit of nostalgia reminding me that back in the 8-Bit and 16-Bit days Disney use to have awesome games.

Anyway, that game was such a pit of tedium and mediocrity. I'm sure for any Disney fan it was a wonderful trip down the memory lane, but gameplay-wise it was unbearable. OF COURSE it's getting a sequel.

• Game requires cooperation to succeed
• Certain enemies are more vulnerable to different power sets
• Puzzles will require both players to complete
• Working with an AI partner seems to face some issues in the most current demo
• Camera issues still crop up
• Surfaces have a very slippery nature
• Camera often sits too low
• No plans for Pro controller support
