also, that's million copiesOne million copies? Why, that's more than something that's less than one million!
I was definitely one of those people who never touched Minecraft on PC but put in at least 10 hours within the first couple days of the XBLA version's release. I guess I'm a mainstream console sucker. Oh, well.
Kids love the Minecraft. I know because I was in GameStop and a kid asked for Minecraft for 360 and dude at the counter was like "It's a downloadable, but we sell the code yo." I dunno why you'd wanna buy a version with less features if you have the PC version already though. But then I think about how I always bought both versions of Pokemon when I was a kid even though it made no difference.
I might buy it just so I can enjoy the sound of the Pc Gamer Elite gnashing their teeth in rage at the 'mainstream'
i have now bought the game two times, i played the PC version for maybe 3-4 hours, and so far i have spent 20+ hours in the 360 version. the reason is the streamlined crafting and the great split-screen coop.
This is great to see. It doesn't matter that the PC version is vastly better. Most people prefer console and will pay plenty to have a taste of PC games.
World of Warcraft on consoles would make a killing!

Two completely different games with literally nothing in common.

Except like Minecraft, it just wouldn't work on consoles. Minecraft is barely functional on the 360 and is a shell of its former self, with itty bitty worlds. That kind of is okay-ish for Minecraft since you still get the gist of the experience, but an MMO would absolutely be murdered by these types of issues.

Lol too true. what a ridiculous comment.
You have to admit that the motorcycle physics are way better in Trials than in Minecraft. It's not even close.
But then... I prefer the diamond mining in Minecraft over Trials, even if I did get buried in lava. The diamond mining in Trials is sorely lacking.

Not to mention the Creepers in Trials are completely broken. Way to fuck that up, RedLynx.
I own both versions, it makes me sick that with 20 million in sales for the Xbox we get an old version. I thought that they said it would be the same version. Ah well, live and learn!

It is awesome! It's 3d Terraria :) Srsly tho, local co-op. Makes it awesome.
Minecraft was before terraria so Terraria is the less popular 2d minecraft.

Nah, the guy has a perfectly valid opinion, especially if he's specifically referring to the hamstrung, glitchy, overpriced and thoroughly-outdated Xbox version. Even if he isn't, there are plenty of people who just don't like that style of game, whereas I'm yet to show Trials to someone who didn't think it was an absolute blast.
Fuck this game you can't play split screen in standard definition, can only play it in HD.

whatever dude this game is great, you need to upgrade grandma,
its not as if HD tvs are too expensive because you can pick up a good 2nd hand one for less than $150,

Different game, not better or worse.
wrong, Trials is the game period, minecraft is a digital lego set.
That's an interesting opinion. It sounds like people are just butt hurt because the game they prefer was outsold by a game they don't like or understand. :-)
Edit: Also what would be wrong with digital legos? That sounds awesome! :-D
Nope, i've had this discussion numerous times with numerous different people on these forums. Minecraft as it stands on the xbox, and how it originally was on the PC is not a game. Because a game has to have goals. now its you who assumed i thought it was a bad thing. A game cannot exist without some sort of point, otherwise you are running around the world making up the games in your head(ex. 'im gonna only mine during the day time, and only do construction work during the night time).

It's fine if you feel that way, but video games are not so narrowly defined. You sound like Roger Ebert explaining why video games are not art. A game does not need a point, story, etc to be a game. Minecraft does, however have a point. It's point is to create a platform in a video game format through which people can collaboratively express themselves without the parameters the game creator has set. The stories I could tell from experiences I've had in Minecraft working/fighting with people on Minecraft greatly outweigh any experiences I've had playing the Call of Duty single player campaigns that have a "purpose."

Sure, you can categorize it as a 'game', i think if you get down to splitting hairs though, it really isnt. As i said in my main post, any game you come up with inside the construct of minecraft is a game of your mind, and the minds of whoever you are playing it with. The 'game' never tells you "go build a house", it never gave you anything to do as a game until the adventure pack. I dont mean to sound like i am starting shit or anything, because its just a pet peeve of mine. It really is just a question of semantics.
Call it an experience, call it a digital lego set(and i dont mean those terms derisively at all), but a game must have a point. Keep in mind, i played a lot of minecraft and had a great time with it on the PC. But i call it a game the same way i call Flower, Linger in shadows, and Datura games, and that is because calling them "digital interactive experiences" sounds hoity-toity. Sure it is more of a game than those now because of the addition of the adventure pack, but vanilla MC was no game. Minecraft has a good bit in common with them though, when you 'play' them it isnt about the 'game'play, or the graphics, or anything like that, its about what you feel when you 'play' them. Its about discovering the world, just because you dont even know what the hell you are doing. Being thrown into a room full of mechanics, having none of them explained to you, and being told "have at it" isnt a game. A game requires more.
I never once said there was no place for these games, or that they arent doing the gaming community a great service, because they are. I think they are helping people to realize that 'games' dont have to be GAMES. Understand?
@nail1080: yeah real gamers dont upgrade! and new graphics cards dont have HD ports....
LOL
i think those "real gamers" have been lying to you friend
