Don't know how so many people can have been unaware of Minecraft's existence until Microsoft put ad blocks on the dashboard, but I guess that's what happened here.

Why would they have to be unaware?

Too bad Trials is the better game.

Different game, not better or worse.

wrong, Trials is the game period, minecraft is a digital lego set.

That's an interesting opinion. It sounds like people are just butt hurt because the game they prefer was outsold by a game they don't like or understand. :-)

Edit: Also what would be wrong with digital legos? That sounds awesome! :-D

If you laid out all those hours end-to-end, they would reach the moon! Or something!

So, on average, everyone who bought Minecraft has only played it for a bit over five hours? That doesn't sound like Minecraft to me.

I'd love to see a breakdown of the number of people who gave up after an hour and people who play 10-hour sessions.

Multiplayer hours, I reckon most play it in single player. They can't track single player times though (hopefully).

EDIT: Online hours, not multiplayer specifically.

Much as I know it's a better experience on mac or PC it's such a great lazy on-couch low commitment game! I was skeptical about why they would put it on 360 but it surprisingly fits

@MariachiMacabre: not really, the creation tools in trials evolution puts minecraft to shame

Minecraft looks cool, but I'll stick with Terraria.

Posted by ALavaPenguin

It is cool but i really hope they upgrade it to the modern version eventually.

I love minecraft but knowing I have the adventure update on PC just keeps me from getting into this, as the adventure update adds SO much. I originally thought that was the point of the 1.0 update too so they could release a "full version" of the game on stuff and it would not be in beta forever? I think that is what irks me the wrong way, this is basically the beta version of Minecraft.

Still like it though and I would prefer to play minecraft witha controller and on my xbox, but it needs to at least get the adventure update if I am going to spend my time.

Guess the hype-machines really work.

Even though I own this game on PC, I bought it and I'm currently playing the 360 version despite having easy access to the superior pc version... Don't ask.

Posted by Wallzii

Great news. Hopefully this means there is a lot of incentive to catch up to the PC version with features as there is obviously a good userbase on the 360.

I'm actually considering getting the 360 version as well to play local splitscreen multiplayer with friends while chuckin' back a few beers.

It's a pity that week in and week out, games are still tanking on XBLA.

Posted by MormonWarrior

Is it still $15 at Best Buy?

Posted by paulunga

So people have played Minecraft 360 online for about 5.2 hours on average? Is that right?

Too bad Trials is the better game.

Two completely different games with literally nothing in common.

People just like to put down other people's choices in games to justify their choices. It's some weird superiority complex. I don't get it.

To bad Kid Niki (for NES) is way better than both of those games.

HA!

Also, Kid Nicky Minaj is the greatest piece of entertainment in history. It's everything Minecraft and Trials Evolution wish they could be.

One million copies? Why, that's more than something that's less than one million!

That's pretty impressive. PC is the way to go though.

In other news: huzzah!

Just weeks after Trials Evolution broke day-one sales records on Xbox Live Arcade, the Minecraft juggernaut comes along and breaks ‘em all over again.

Xbox evangelist Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb just announced Minecraft has sold more than one million copies on XBLA.

Hryb also released a few details about the insane amount of time people have spent in-game:

  • Total online hours: 5.2 million

  • Multiplayer sessions: 4 million

  • Total multiplayer gaming hours: 2.4 million

Yeesh.
