Oh god yes I want this bad.
I played old rise of triad to death I got it on a discount bin around the time I bought duke nukem 3d atomic edition from the same discount bin after I got board of quake 1 and 2 and doom this was the game.
that is the fucking best dual pistol reloading animation I have EVER SEEN!
This is exactly what I want from rise of triad! the 1st rise of triad made no sense and it still does not that is what I like.it's meant to be funny and have stupid voice aciting and castle filled with traps that make no logical sense and fucking fast as hell gameplay.
Holy shit an Apogee logo! This game still looks kinda bad though. Time will tell.
The nostalgia is oozing right now, played this all the time when I was a kid! Can't wait to see how this pans out

Looks better than Call of Duty at least, so not really.
A) Call of Duty 2, Maybe
B) Call of Duty's Engine was first used in 2005.

Judging from the visuals it is an XBLA/PSN release? Or at least a console game...
If it's PC they forgot to turn on AA and had a low budget (at least for the trailer).
I played RotT back in the day and it always felt like a cheap off-feeling take on what id Software were doing. This sort of looks like a cheap off-feeling take on something again, so in that regard they're alike...
Wait, WTF? It's UE3 and PC? Makes no sense.
While I appreciate what this game is trying to do, I don't think this trailer is doing it very well.
I never played the original, but I really love the mid-90's style of FPS game. I'll probably be picking this up/
I loved the original Triads game, played it to death, even video'd it for prosperity off my monitor (sad i know). I'm not really liking the look of this though, hmmmm maybe the old rose tinted glasses should come off. Interesting to see the comments off people who didn`t know the original.
I was pretty young when this came out, so I don't have any real reference for the original. That said, this still looks awesome.

The mid-90's called. They want their game design back.
Ummm... you know what this is, right?
It's a reboot that's meant to be faithful to the original game. Of course it's going to have mid-90s game design. That's the whole point.
Again, yes? I think the point of this game is hard to miss, also you're preaching to the choir; I. Have. Played. The. Original. Why else would I mention game design from 20 years past.
Sarcasm. It's a bitch on the Internet...
You're expecting me to make inferences based on absolutely nothing. I know that YOU know what you have and have not played and what your intentions behind a straight-faced comment with no indicators of sarcasm are, but how am I supposed to?
"I think the point of this game is hard to miss"
If you've seen some of the reactions to this trailer elsewhere, you'd be surprised at just how easy the point is to miss, haha. ("haha" added to show the tone of the preceding comment)
Ha ! Ha ! Awful argument there, guys.
Who's arguing? It's a misunderstanding that I'm trying to sort out.

Man, FPS were so much better back in the 90's. They were FUN, they had style, the developers behind them had ambition and were constantly in an arms race to be the next Doom or Quake - they weren't content to merely live up to the other games in the genre, they were out to genuinely blow their competitors away....they didn't all reuse the same boring, skill-free game mechanics, the same boring "real world" weapons, the same generic "incredibly linear bombed out city" settings, the same boring human enemies....god, today's shooters fucking suck. More importantly, judging by the comments here, today's shooter FANS fucking suck. Morons. You Xbox kiddies are the worst thing to happen to gaming, I swear.

Doom, Blakestone, Triad, Blood, Duke 3D, Hexen, Heretic etc, perhaps not as innovative as you'd like to believe.

It seems to recapture that fun aspect of the early FPSs that has largely (but not completely) been lost in the last decade. Fun as in, not taking itself so damned seriously. Sometimes I wonder if the "games as art" debate has forced developers away from creating things like this.
That said, they might have taken a bit too much from the mid-90s. Of course, as ShaggE pointed out, that's what this is supposed to be. Of course, we just had a shitty Duke Nukem game, so I'm not sure how much real interest there is in this aside from a splash of 90s nostalgia. For $20 I might bite, but not otherwise.
I'd take this janky shit over warfighter or what ever other shitty 'realistc' FPS is being pumped out these days. Really think we need to get some stupidity and fantasy back into shooters.

I haven't laughed at a comment so much in a long time.....god my sense of humour is so bad....
Looks interesting, but the graphics seem a bit iffy. Reminds me of RTCW, which to be fair was a decent enough followup to wolfenstein 3D. I'll keep it on my radar.
ummm why does this person sound like Duke? did he crawl his way into another game after DNF, I'll give him credit the duke is persistent.
What will really be neat is if you can select different characters and they all have their own animations an voices.
Neat!
Though I always preferred the Wolfenstein series over Rise, I guess the same can be said from the few we've seen of this new one.
I loved it. Really brought back what little I remembered of the original.
But I was hearing "Fuckin' A" and crap like that in the background. Please make this a silent protagonist. I don't want another DNF.
Went to the Rott panel at QuakeCon. Having not thought about Rott in over a decade, I have to say I'm pretty excited. More than anything (and a good chunk of the panel was dedicated to this) the music is super badass. It's probably worth the $15 just for the soundtrack alone. You can tell these guys really love the old Rott.

I'm all for this kind of shooter, and I'll totally play it. But the evil bad nazi man begging for his life at the start of this trailer makes me kind of uncomfortable. Vidya

I miss Apogee... I still find dust covered copies of "Apogee's Greatest Games" laying around my parents house.
@Onkel_Dunkel:
Completely different company. The original Apogee LTD is 3DRealms. They are the same company. 3DRealms is still a company, they still exist.
This new Apogee LLC is a completely new company with new staff, and none of the people from the original Apogee. But due to certain legal aspects, they are allowed to act under the original title and use certain IPs that 3DRealms allowed them.
This getting made renews my hope for a Redneck Rampage remake :)
I'll withhold judgement on this until I see a little bit more but 14 year old me is definitely excited. Now let's see if further info gets 33 year old me excited too.
The mix of old music and new graphics makes this trailer INCREDIBLY AWESOME.

Glad to see Rise of the Triad return. It's completely unexpected, but awesome all the same. Now, id, Apogee, get someone to remake Hexen, will you? And whoever owns the rights to Powerslave; that would be appreciated too.
