I do a series of articles on my website called "On the Cutting Room Floor".

The feature covers videogames that I've always wanted to play but never have (Yet...). My list stretches to the Sun, before coming back around again, but I'm sure for most people their list only goes to Venus or so.

I've only done twelve installments so far, but here are the games on my list. What are some games that would be on YOUR list?

12. Shinobi (PS2)

11. Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion (N64)

10. Resident Evil: Deadly Silence (DS)

9. Car Battler Joe (GBA)

8. Metal Gear Solid 2

7. Halo 2

6. Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons (GBC)

5. Otogi: Myth of Demons (Xbox)

4. Drill Dozer (GBA)

3. Psychonauts (XB, PC, PS2)

2. Silent Hill 3

1. EarthBound

Soul Reaver 2

Rayman: Origins

SMT3: Nocturne

Ys: Oath in Felghana

Thief series

@Terramagi: Dude! The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver for Dreamcast stares me in the face everytime I go to play a game. I've been really longing to play it. I've never played one of those games, and I recently fixed my Dreamcast's laser by opening it up.

Right now I'm knee-deep in playing through every Resident Evil title before 6 comes out. But afterward I may finally pop the game in. I've been craving it. lol. Though I do wonder if it'll hold up or not to a newbie to the series.

Mario Galaxy

Metroid Prime series

Mad World

No More Heroes

Viewtiful Joe

Pikmin

and that's about all I can think of right now, and am ashamed to not have played a lot of these yet, but times are BUSY, and It's hard to track down gamecube games when they come to mind..

Hitman 2

God of War Ghost of Sparta

Peace Walker

@toots: That is an awesome list! I have Skies of Arcadia: Legends and never played it... Viewtiful Joe is a game I've been thinking a lot about lately. Most people never even Completed it because of the insane difficulty.

I got a shelf full of games collecting dust with no hope in sight of me ever getting around to playing them. I used to have a list but seeing it never move made me sad so I deleted it. Will probably remake it some day, but in the mean time off the top of my head:

And my Wii as a whole. I bought it and around 20 games last winter for around $400 and I have yet to even unpack my Wii let alone jump into the games. I wish I had like a month or two off from work and could just jump into that backlog and go to town. I hate that I have so many fucking games just collecting dust and I'm still buying new ones. Kid me that was lucky to get 1-2 games a year would have a heart attack if he seen me now.

I'm hoping once the next gen stuff rolls around that will light a fire under my ass and get me into playing them as I don't have enough room for my PC and all three consoles as it is let alone adding 3 more on top of it.

I know how you feel man. Most of my backlog games are from LAST GENERATION. I do not even begin to think about this generation as I haven't played virtually every bigname game from 2006 onward (Ninja Gaiden 2 is around the time when I stopped :P).

Sadly, I almost game exclusively on my Wii and use it to play classic retro and Gamecube titles. :P Like I just got done playing more Resident Evil Remake than should be legal (beat it about 8 times in a row. I now consider the game both Completed and Mastered and will probably never touch it again, despite it being my favorite game ever) and now I've moved on to Resident Evil 2. And soon I'll pop in Resident Evil Zero. Probably after playing RE3 and CV. If I was banished to a desert island, I'd definitely be content with just my Wii. It gets the most action from me by far, next to my 3DS. But I'm a Nintendo fanboy at heart.

Oh where to begin...

Persona 3 and 4

Tales of Symphonia (120 dollars off Amazon because why the fuck not?)

Metal Gear Solid series

Uncharted Series

Demons Souls

Sleeping Dogs

God of War 3

Assassins Creed Brotherhood

Way more but for some reason I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

Battlefield 3 on PC. I've played the Xbox version and it had its fun moments but even a full game sometimes felt like a wasteland.

I always wanted to get into the Wizardry series, but it's pretty cost prohibitive. If they're released on GOG.com, and I can afford them, I'll remedy that. Some runner-ups also include the Myst series (beyond the first game, which I think every gamer my age bought and played to death), Ultima, and the Zork series (again, beyond the first).

@Sparky_Buzzsaw: If graphics/mechanics etc. are keeping you away from Ultima, check this out http://www.u5lazarus.com/. And I think the Wizardry games fall into acceptable "abandonware", since it's highly unlikely that the Japanese dudes who own the license will re-release the original games in english.

Too many to name, probably won't get to most of them until retirement lol so I'll name a few.

  • Final Fantasy VIII (3rd run)
  • DMC HD Collection
  • Killzone: Liberation
  • Bushido Blade (2nd run)
  • Tactics Ogre: LUCT (PSP Version)
Posted by Sparky_Buzzsaw

@ThePaleKing: I'm not the sort to just assume games are abandonware. I'm not that desperate to play that series. And as for Ultima, it's more or less just a matter of a sale coming up at the right time. They had all of them on sale last week on GOG, but I was strapped for cash. Next time.

Despite putting 30+ hours into Skyrim, I feel I haven't really played that game yet.

The only games I can say I am truly longing to play are the STALKER games.

I have a weak laptop and a crappy old desktop. Neither run the game at anything close to what I would consider playable levels. Should be starting a new job tomorrow, so I can finally start saving towards a decent gaming rig. Hopefully by the end of the year I will have the cash needed for a nice build.

I've wanted to play Heavy Rain for the longest time, but never got around to it :/ And now my PS3 isn't with me, so maybe later in life...someday.

Too many to list... hell, too many to list ._.

Now that I think of it, none really. Every game that I have a strong desire to play, I play. The other stuff exists on the periphery as games I feel a cultural desire to add to my lexicon due to their relevance to the medium, but no motivation to experience based on their own merits.

Games like Skyward Sword, Skyrim, and Guild Wars 2 spring to mind.

Posted by RenegadeSaint

If you ever get to Shinobi for the PS2, make sure you get yourself into a serious zen mood, because that game is ridiculous.

Maybe "longing" is a bit strong, but:

1. Mario Galaxy (bought, waiting on the Wii U to arrive)

2. Thief 2

3. Skyrim (waiting for the GOTY version)

4. Ratchet and Clank : Tools of Destruction (starting this)

5. Gears 2
