I still don't understand the appeal of Joust, I could create the same effect by just having everyone holding a full cup of beer and trying to get them to spill some.

Seeing this game seems to be the most fun when playing with people at a party, my solution would be much quicer and easier than busting out like 7 move controllers.

Spilling beer is messy, Move Controllers aren't.

You could use water then, also i don't know anyone with a move controller.

Yeah, because spilling any kind of liquid all over the place is always the better option than not spilling liquid all over the place.

Use a stick? some kids toy? there are tons of stuff you can use that are cheaper and easier to find.

But then there's no way to differentiate subtle movement from "losing" movement.

Nearly every one of those indie developers had huge black bags under their eyes.

That makes me sad :(

Since the best way to not spill a drink in your hand is to... well, drink it, the game part is going to wear out its welcome really fast.

Ryan looks warm.

That guy from cannon brawl was rigid as hell.

Ryan looks sweatier with each game. Also, Will Smith's evil twin is an indie game dev?

Posted by PacManFevaa

It's Will Smith!

Yay for the Scorched Earth reference. Loved that game back in the day <3

Interest piqued!

I hope that once JSJ is actually released, they'll be able to parley it into a standalone game/toy thingy.

I would love to be able to walk into a Toys R Us and pick up a big old box with 4 - 8 "controllers" and be able to play it anywhere, sans PS3.

blows my mind that the diety game is just "free" it looks great, downloading it now

Was that Conrad with the Mr. Destructoid head, during the Joust bit?

Hot Vidz Guys!

Offspring Fling is GREAT, also I wonder if those two at the end know they've been immortalized here with some sick combat music.

Posted by Pop

oh yea, I saw offspring fling on gamespot once. I played a little catch-22 it's pretty awesome. Cool how fast they put the pax videos out.

God, I hate Destructoid.

I don't mean to be a asshole but coz of YOU! I cant stop focusing on the drop of sweat on Ryan's Face.

I focused on it for about five minutes...

...coz that's all I needed.

That Swapper game looks amazing. I'm even willing to overlook the obvious Dead Space-ness of its design and praise it for being clay models

The bridge looks pretty awesome, hope that comes to PS3

  • impressed, how many games Ryan & Drew/Vinny(?) were able to squeeze in this segment.
  • Joust guy should show Sony the finger (for NOT wanting his game) and he should find a toy maker to release a Toy and/or PC Version for this thing. It's been too long. It's playable. It's 'finished'. It's ready for E like Everyone?!!

Damn, Catch 22 seems sick.

I've played Deity a few months back and it's pretty cool, albeit very short. But hey, it's free ^^ Also, The Swapper looks pretty awesome, I'm definitely keeping an eye out for it.

Offspring Fling!

I played through that a few weeks ago, it is really good and plays nicely with a 360 controller. If this would have been released for the SNES back in the 90s it would have gotten decent review scores. I have gold medals on most of the levels and even some dev medals, but those times are insane. The game shows you a ghost when you are close enough to that time and on more then one occasion I was baffled watching it. You can turn down the opacity of that ghost sprite if it distracts you.

Loving all these impressions.

Posted by Ninja_Welshman

Wow, never seen JSJ before. Cool application of move. Bet that game can get rough though!!

No Brendon Chung interview. Boo!

Great overview and fantastic editing, especially the ending. Yeah, I still think that Joust thing is some nice and stupid fun and I respect that, but it seems like a complete novelty hipster toy and nothing more. I doubt the potentially significant investment for controllers will be worth it for people with a budget. Trying it for a round or two is probably quite fun and leads to the somewhat odd buzz it gets on many sites. Also if this was played drunk or otherwise altered on parties I'm familiar with people would likely die so I understand Ryan's expectations in that regard.

All really cool looking games. Nice ending Drew. :P

The one guy made a game where two or more people stand still while holding Playstation Move controllers, and then slap at each other. I just want everyone to take that in for a moment.

Laughed my ass off at The Swapper dude ragging on introducing new mechanics just before The Bridge dude says "each chapter introduces a new gravity-based mechanic you can use"

Will Smith, actor, editor, game designer. What can't he do?? It also boggles my mind that JSJ isn't out yet. It seems so simple. The Bridge looks like a clone of And Yet It Moves.

Posted by Draxyle

I'm not the only one who did a double-take at the Will Smith look-alike it seems. Uncanny resemblance.

Some very bizarre but cool games here; I'm glad you guys take the time to give them all their few minutes of coverage here.

I'm well interested in Catch-22, fer sure. It reminds me (conceptually) of that old PlayStation Net Yaroze game, Time Slip:

Also, it's beyond me how the JSJ guys still haven't got that thing out. People have been talking for years and we've never heard what they're actually working on - added features? What?

shouldn't it be PAX 12 now
