I like Bond. I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan but I find this disgusting. It doesn't even fit with the timeline of the Craig films. What where they thinking?

It's Pussy Galore up in here!!!

I'm a James Bond fan and this IS pretty disgusting. Plus the story line doesn't make any sense since not only is each James Bond a different person but the Daniel Craig James Bond is supposed to be a reboot of the character, effectively making him the first James Bond in this time line. [And the opening shot, where the girl shoots Bond on the train, is from Skyfall so they're obviously using the new time line.] Him having his life flash before his eyes to past missions he's been on makes no fucking sense on multiple levels.

@DarkbeatDK: Roger Moore is the best at nothing. Most girly bond ever. Timothy Dalton is the king, Living Daylights.

QL: The Quest for Vinny's Virtual Gold

Man, whenever I see one of the melee kill animations, I'm always expecting Austin Powers to scream "JUDO CHOP!"

I feel Jeff is forgetting about the From Russia with Love game that came out in 2005. That was not a Bond game entirely based on the shooting mechanics from Goldeneye and was a solid 3rd person shooter that had a good balance of stealth, shooting and vehicle combat. Oh and Daniel Craig didn't replace Sean Connery in that one, Connery's Bond is in that game!

As for this game, I can't help but agree. The Bond games need to take a break from the Goldeneye formula and be more focused on stealth or third person gameplay.

I thought 007: Nightfire had a nice blend of slick spy stuff and good FPS-ing. Also, X-ray vision that sees through men's bodies and women's clothes. Nothin' but skeletons with guns and girls in lingerie - just the way Pierce Brosnan likes it.

Albert R. Broccoli...if that is your real name.

Man, Jeff mentioning Everything or Nothing makes me feel bad that I've never actually played it. I should really get a copy of it.

Posted by xite

Jeff's character at the start is Robert Davi from License to Kill. Probably the most brutal Bond movie.

So uh... if this is Daniel Craig Bond, why is Felix Leiter a white guy instead of Jeffrey Wright?

Here is a piece of Bond information that blew my mind. It's not explained in the movies, but it makes PERFECT sense.

Do you know why "James Bond" has been in service since the 1960's? AND why he is often different people on screen? It's because "James Bond" is as much a code name as "007". Different people inherent the name at different times and it passes on to other people when the previous "James Bond" retires. (Just like "M" and "Q"). It also explains why "M" has to develop a new relationship with Daniel Craig's "James Bond" In Casino Royale, especially if it was the same dude that just saved her ass in the previous movie. Plus, Casino Royale is the movie where "James Bond" ranks up to "00" status; he would've had that before, unless it was a different person altogether.

And, if you pay attention, you can see how the previous "James Bond" retires. Timothy Daughton was kicked out for going rogue or something. Pierce Bronsnan's Bond left Mi6 with some girl never to be seen again. (Pay attention to the final scene of each of the actor's last movies)

BOOM.

Jeff is right about Bond games. If Obsidian ever gets to a point where their games aren't always kind of messed up I'd like to see them take a stab at it with the lessons they learned from Alpha Protocol. I'd be okay with AP2, but I don't see Sega or anyone else funding that.

Could they possibly make it anymore unlike the original film.

No George Lazenby, NO SALE!

I don't know, as a James Bond fanatic, this'd be cool for like a couple bucks.

I would love to see something like Alpha Protocol attempted with the 007 license. It'd be perfect in setting up this concept of playing like any of the 007's, and kinda fitting in a Daniel Craig skill set build, or a Sean Connery skill set build, or Pierce Brosnan, etc.

That would be pretty interesting actually. Sir Roger Moore's build could be all about using smarm, persuasion and smutty seduction to get through missions. He'd probably be up for voicing some of it, too, he loves a bit of publicity.

Everything or Nothing was fantastic. i enjoyed the hell out of that, and Nightfire during the last gen. this doesn't look nearly as appealing as i thought it would, or at least as far as the gameplay is concerned. the shooting doesn't seem very fun.

also, i love how drew just pops in at random intervals

It's weird to see how low-budget this package seems. From the cover art to the graphics in-game, the whole thing looks kinda B or C tier. But graphics aside, hey maybe it plays great. Getting into this QL now...

Man, Jeff is right.

I remember playing Tomorrow Never Dies on the PS1 and really liking it.

007: Everything or Nothing went back to a similar vein, but I didn't think it was as good...

More games need to go down that path, though.

I didn't play the Quantam of Solace game, but from watching some of it, it seemed much better than any of these first-person shooters.

The Quantum of Solace game was pretty much exactly like this, but with a third person cover system and a shitload of quicktime events, but it was kinda decent. The story was just a mess and was impossible to follow without having seen the movies first.

If you want a good third person James Bond game, play Blood Stone, it has some decent third person cover shooting, some decent SC Conviction - like stealth and some pretty cool, though linear, driving sequences.

You know what, I was totally talking about Blood Stone, and for some reason I just thought to call it Quantam of Solace.

That Blood Stone Quick Look from a while ago seemed pretty neat.

Then yes, you should totally try it out.

Best Bond movie, and I'm British and my name's James so I know dammit!

Posted by super2j

i bought everything or nothing years after i rented it (after playing the demo over and over again). Even as recently as last year i would catch my 10yr old sister playing coop with various people. Thats how great that game is, i then played that super stylized russia one, also great! I was never a fan of fps 007.

yes he is but although your playing as craig bond your not playing the craig era but past bonds in which Felix was a white dude at least I would guess that's the reason or maybe they just didn't have the licence to have the black dude as Felix i dunno.

This is like the culmination of lazy FPS techniques. No recoil, hyper sensitive auto-aim, nonexistant enemy AI, defend the guy opening the door, shallow stealth mechanic, tons of unnecessary unlocks, and gunfights into cutscenes into hold interact key to move on. Heck, even the crosshairs from the hip are taken exactly from Call of Duty.

When's the part where you play through the Woody Allen Casino Royale movie?

As a Bond fan ( I own all the movies on DVD and now Blu Ray) this is rather disheartening. The Hitman series would actually make for a good starting point for a true Bond experience. I don't like the idea of making these missions take place in modern times.

I'd say something like Alpha Protocol would be better for the basis. Maybe that game skewed a little grittier than a lot of Bond things, but it's got that "be a suave motherfucker and only ghost dudes when it's gone real rotten" aspect to it.

Also, when he's on the laser table, where was his head at the end? Wasn't he supposed to be strapped down? It was like his head was just on his chest.
