Im going to guarantee that this DLC mentions an "invasion" of Canada. Every time a game features a tyrannical/semi-evil USA, Canada is always one of the first countries to go down. Look at the Fallout series, Canada was annexed and you never hear any more from it.
True Story: the Americans captured Montreal in the early stages of the Revolutionary War and if not for a defeat later at Quebec City would have very likely taken Canada :)
America actually tried to take over Canada again in 1812 but was held at bay by Canadian soldiers. The Canadians then went on to set fire to the White House
Also, in the 1930's the United States military drew up a hypothetical war plan for a war against the British Empire. The first action of the plan calls for the invasion of Canada.
Truth be told, George Washington wouldn't be called King Washington. It's King George I.
Considering that the colonists had just been oppressed by a King George III, I don't think anybody would be on board with that name.

@Bandit: Guys, Canada didn't exist as a nation until 1867. The War of 1812 was fought between the Americans and the British. The colonies were referred to as Upper Canada and Lower Canada, but they were just British colonies.
So, if King Washington invades the north in this DLC, he is invading British colonies. Not Canada.

Yeah, Im guess this alt history will have that invasion go the other way.... Oh well, it's a common video game theme for Canada to get annexed so I might as well accept this one.

George Washington was actually offered the role of king after he won the war. This is a completely legitimate alternate storyline that could have happened, if the founding fathers weren't such complete bad asses dedicated to down home freedom. George Washington refused a crown, and refused to serve as a permanent president. He just loved liberty too much.
Tell that to Native Americans! XD
(yeah...)

Hey, hey, let's not get crazy here.Next your telling me that Abraham Lincoln was NOT a vampire hunter. Psh
Loved AC3, might get the season pass if the DLCs are actually good. This seems interesting, especially since they already kind of shit on Washington in main game(pretty fairly though)

Yeh, create a new reality because the one you created for the main game was so *disappointing / poorly realised when compared to AC II / shite *delete as appropriate
Really? I played AC2 right before 3 and prefer 3. I loved 2, but it is pretty shallow(gameplay wise) and extremely easy compared to 3. I mean Ezio and the time period are more exotic than 3's but as a game overall 3 is so much more fun, there's so much more to do, and money is actually worth something, they don't give you thousands just for completing a story misson. Both worlds of 2 and 3 were really fun to me, even if 2's is really bland besides some of Venice and the landmarks of the other areas. 2 has a lot of flat topped buildings, and the few guards there are a not a problem whatsoever. The guards in 3 are pretty scary for the early parts of the game(most of the game for me) until you liberate that section of town, because if you slip up and cross their path they are ON YOU and they are EVERYWHERE, and they just felt so much more threatening than ever before. Only thing about 3's world that bummed me out was that a majority of the building used for Synching were very similar, only thing to compare to the structures of the earlier games were the trees used for the Synchronization.
That being said Brotherhood is still my favorite.
I always thought this is how AC3 should of went the old you changed everything though time travel story but it doesn't matter because you are in a animus, really enjoying AC3 so will pick this up depending on price down the road.

Haha, yeah pretty much. Going back to AC3 seems as appealing as going back to ME3 for me at this point. That story was told, that story was bunk.

I'd still rather fight for King Washington than against him. When they set up a faction to be this evil, I always decide I'd rather be on their side.

Or a goatee!
The goatees are for the alternate reality villains. King Washington should have a sick goatee.
Wasn't this titled The Tyranny of King George when it was announced? 'Cause that's a way better name, what with the ironic Anti-Federalist slant.

Ugh, Hamilton. What a slimy piece of shit.
What a wonderful concept. Love it. Just not a big fan of Assassins Creed in general.
So what to do?
According to the intro, all those facts are true yet old Georgie still was never a pimp king on a throne. What gives?!
Did one of the scenes show them building some kind of Mayan pyramid or something? I wonder what that's about?

This is offensive. George Washington didn't even want to be president. Taking a title of nobility (such as King) was so repugnant to the Founders that it carried the death penalty. The people who made this ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Don't worry, you probably get to murder him at the end. That'll cheer you right up.

@Daneian: It's probably true that some amount of people post-revolution would have preferred Washington remained in power in perpetuity, the history behind "Washington as king" actually stems from the late period war. The American Revolution was very much a roller coaster in terms of the outcome and really until very close to Yorktown it would have been hard to determine who would win the war.
At some point during his siege of New York, Washington learned that a number of his officers, and a portion of his continental army - demoralized and disillusioned with the way Congress was handling the war - decided that maybe they should march on Philadelphia themselves and install Washington as king. When he learned of it, he immediately snuffed out any notion of such an act by responding to their leader in a letter about casting aside everything they had been fighting for. He was a pretty amazing man :)
It's one of my favorite Washington stories:

So you're saying that in their alternate history DLC they have come up with a story not just historically inaccurate but in many ways the opposite to what we know about a beloved historical figure? The nerve!

Strong words, but don't forget that Hamilton was a brilliant economist. More controversially, his support of a central bank set a strong precedent for governmental power that exists to this day (the North arguably wouldn't have won the Civil War without its banks). Not to mention government programs ranging from environmental protection to bailouts.
I never played AC3, but this dlc sounds like an interesting aside, or at least something different.

They did tell him to do that, they asked him to be King and he turned it down. Awesome guy. (Also, even if the history books mention that I have my doubts he actually turned it down)

so weird.
and if he's going to be an evil parallel universe version, then he really should have a goatee.

As a history student, I can never not pick holes in alternate histories, especially ones that take themselves really seriously. I know they're supposed to be fun and all but, hell, if it doesn't annoy people.
I can't tell if this is supposed to be taking itself seriously. To me, it looks really dumb. Also, I like how he's a 'possessed' tyrant. Cos the 'real' George Washington couldn't possibly have any character flaws whatsoever :P
Is it just me or does this trailer's description of this "alternate" history sound closer to the actual truth than the non-alternate history?
