Haters better recognise, Patrick asked some great questions in this interview. I would have loved to have seen more of the crew in for the interview as well, but Ryan and Patrick did a great job.

Posted by GunsAreDrawn

Really hard to see the point of doing this interview on video. It's only 6 minutes long and they questions and answers weren't terribly interesting, plus you can hardly understand the translator, they might aswell have put it on the site as a written interview.

Why Patrick? the only guy that didn't play Deadly Premonition in the Endurace Run does the interview..

He has played the game. I get the impression he actually likes it more then the staff.

I think Patrick is part of the staff...

I don't

Did he say that there's a new ending? Maybe a segue into a sequel?

Posted by gregoryc

@Heimdal: I don't know. Seems nearly all the stories Patrick puts up become a place to post that others dislike Patrick so much. It's really tiring and I'm beginning to dislike the community because of it. Giantbomb used to make me glad to be a gamer and I enjoyed visiting the site, but the cynicism around him really is too much. What ever happened to civil discourse and/or not posting or giving his articles the views. If you don't like it, don't click on it and post.

Poor choice of words. I meant then when the endurance run happened.

@Jace: At first I thought they were just dubbing it in Japanese on top of Japanese. It's not so bad once you tune to it and focus a bit but I bet it's pretty bad for native English speakers.

By the gods, I fucking love that the guys are nodding their heads to what must sound like gibberish to them.

Keep up the fantasticly quirky work swery. It makes me feel good on the inside to know that there are people out there makeing the art they want to make reaction of the world be damned.

This is only from looking at the first page of your user page. Let me ask you this: why are you even visiting this website? Why even bother to comment on the content? You obviously have serious issues with the crew, especially Patrick, and frankly I'm getting extremely tired of users like you who do nothing but bring childish anger and 'waaah, waaah' here.

Listening to this without watching the video immensely improved my ability to understand what was said. It's a cool little interview and I think the guys did great.

The translator is probably harder to understand than SWERTY's broken English. =(

It's Swery, not Swerty. It's not like he screwed up spelling 'qwerty'. Sure, the translator isn't a native speaker, but he's plenty understandable.

I'm always weirded out by these kind of translated interviews. I get that it's translated in post (obviously), but how is the interview set up? Swery clearly knows what the questions are prior to them asking, so there's a script/question list both parties are away of, but does the crew have any idea what he's saying, or is it all in service of the interview? Has he prepared an 'answer' script that they're aware of, or do they even care to know (in the moment), since they're not asking questions that reply to answers? It makes sense and looks natural in post-production, but an interview you don't understand must feel awkward - you're asking questions but don't understand the answers.

Pretty sure Swery was trying to mind control me there at the end.

YES!

Just started watching Twin Peaks. Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut can't come soon enough!

Edited by Bistromath

Did they use the same voice actors for the previously text only scenes/new scenes in The Director's Cut?

Some of the game-play trailers sounded a bit...off. Maybe it was just a new/different recording environment.

@Cincaid: It's the internet and people just love that free-roam ability to whiiiiiine and cryyyyyy and mooooan about everything. Especially about things they'll never be able to change because it's not their fucking website and they have no say over who is on staff, Quick Looks, interviews, and features. Too bad for them, I suppose. Must suck to be that god damn miserable all the time over things they're never going to influence.

Also, SWERY is the best. One of the most genuinely excited and in-touch with the fans Japanese developers I've ever seen.

Posted by Mr_Skeleton

He has heavy accent but I understood almost all of it, I really don't see why people have such a problem with him.

Posted by D

Sweary straight trillin' it! So much SWAG!

Posted by The_Ruiner

haha i love that the translator has such a thick impenetrable accent...

I'd tell you all to run the game in SLI but........GET A 360!

That was rather short. I wonder why they went with PS3 only.

Posted by mrfluke

hey uh assholes, before you bitch in the comments about patrick, watch the interview first? im all for criticizing patrick when its legit, but he did a good job on this one,

the translator on the other hand........

Posted by andrew2696

This is the first time I've heard a translator refer to the person being translated in third person.

Posted by paulunga

Jesus, they should've just let SWERY speak instead of the "translator".

He has the "staff" tag on forums and appears as a staff member during chats. Your move.

missed opportunity guys :P, why wasnt this track playing in the background of the interview. interview was rather quiet, and this would have been perfect.

Posted by paulunga

@Vinchenzo: At least you're admitting that you're wrong.

Posted by CornBREDX

You guys know Patrick has played and enjoyed Deadly Premonition, right? I remember when it was making the rounds on the internet for video game critics he was on a podcast with Adam Sessler and they talked about it for like 20 minutes or something.

Anywho, fun interview, although I'm not sure the translator understand one or two of the questions but whateva haha
Swery seems like such a laid back guy.

You mean loudest. Vocal minorities gonna bitch, doesn't mean everyone is on your side.

Yeah, subtitles would have helped.

May want to try making subtitles in the future. The translator isn't great and I'd rather actually 'hear' SWERY, since he is a generally enthusiastic speaker.

Good little video, Patrick and Ryan.

Posted by Sneakybadger

A nice little interview.

Posted by Fobwashed

I just finished watching the first season of Twin Peaks, and what a ridiculous cliff hanger ending. It makes me sad that everything I've heard about Season 2 has been ho-hum. Swery didn't just take inspiration from the show, Deadly Premonitions in retrospect feels like an oldschool version of a licensed game in the same vein of licensed games from the NES era.

Posted by Demoskinos

Its really weird how the translator is translating in the 3rd person.

Posted by DeviTiffany

So how did this Interview go exactly? Because I don't see a translator in the room and the way this is cut it makes it look like they just asked him questions while they smiled and nodded without knowing a single thing he just said.

Maybe he's just the best English speaker on the game team and not a professional translator.
