I was a little bummed out when Skyrim was named Giant Bomb's Game of the Year while Dark Souls might as well had been thrown out of the discussion, but I felt a lot better after reading this comic.

This is pointless and dumb. They are pretty different games.

I had a different approach that started with me feeling fine, and then remembering that GotY is a subjective event that doesn't really mean much to me. I understand where you're coming from, and at least you aren't typing in all caps about how stupid Giant Bomb is, but the next step is just realizing that all this doesn't really matter.

Dark Souls is a cool game, and so is Skyrim.

Less analyzing the comic strip and more laughing at it being funny.

I love both games, but that's just too damn funny.

Dark Souls is probably my second favourite game from 2011 after Skyrim. I don't get the weird idea that somehow Skyrim stole attention from Dark Souls however, they aren't even remotely similar games. Aside from being set in a fantasy world (and even then such completely disparate visions of the term fantasy) they have practically nothing in common.

Why not get annoyed at all the recognition Bastion got or Portal 2? In some ways they have more in common with Dark souls than Skyrim does.

I came in all set to rage about how annoying the Dark Soul's fan club is getting with these constant Skyrim comparisons.  However, all that frustration is gone after reading the comic.  Carry on.

I know the mayor of Skyrim and i have connections with Pax East, E3, Comic Con, Gamespot, IGN, Giantbomb, Jesus and Jack Nicholson. I also have 150.00 PR marketing guys wholl launch a smear cempaign against you and that commic. If you dont stop im gonna pull some strings, its not about what you do, but who you know.

That's actually pretty funny. Pointless threads are OK if they're funny.

I honestly gave Dark Souls a chance and I hated it...I really don't get it. I like super challenging games like Super Meat Boy, but I just don't get the appeal of Dark Souls. I'm not trolling. It's just not for me I guess. I would say that picture illustrates that there's actually more variety of stuff to do in Skyrim...

I also prefer Dark Souls to Skyrim.

That's pretty much how it would go down, yeah.

I don't see why everyone is constantly crying about one game being praised more than the other. Everyone has their OWN OPINION and that's all that should matter. If you feel that Dark Souls is better than Skyrim then good for you, that's what you feel but you aren't going to change anyone's opinions. These threads aren't really helping anyone.

If i couldn't prance merrily through the fields while picking flowers I wouldn't be playing Skyrim. You can have your silly extremely difficult action game, i'm playing Flowerpicking Simulator 2011.
