Recent spammers

There have been a lot of people coming onto this site spamming pictures on this site.  One account had some posting gay porno all over the site and now we have some dude posting "Giant bomb is at war".

Also, I was wondering if there could be a way to find which mods are currently online and which ones are off so we can immediately warn them of these assholes.

Well, they added a "Flag" button, which seems like it should help, if it ends up working as intended. It's a step in the right direction.

Just click the who is online button at the to right of the forums next to the create a new topic button. Forum mods show up with "moderator" under their name there when they are online. Wiki mods like myself do not show up as moderators on that list since we have no involvement with the forums.

I noticed this, it's getting annoying seeing it in ever thread.

If someone's spamming a lot, you'll use up all your karma pretty quickly if you use the flag feature. It's probably best to PM a forum mod like Endogene said.

That is what I do.  I usually send the work to Bog.

Forum Moderators like myself, BoG, MB, CitizenKane, Suneku, TheBeast and Kush will appear in the 'Who's Online?' feature with the Moderator tag under our usernames so you know we are Mods and we are online.

To find out who is online simply click the Forums tab along the top of your screen then click the 'Who's Online?' button (it's gold coloured) and a list will be generated. We now also have a new 'flag' option which you can see in the bottom right of each post alongside other options such as delete / quote / reply etc.

Clicking 'flag' will send the post / topic to a queue where Forum Mods will look over it and deal with what needs to be deal't with in whatever way we feel is most appropriate. For more information on this then check out Coonce's blog detailing this new Karma System.

I urge everyone to use the Karma System's 'flag' option to report offensive content BEFORE sending Forum Moderators a PM notifying us of offensive content. So basically use up your 5 Karma flags first then PM us. Most of the time we'll always reset an honest flagger's Karma Level so they can continue. But the more people use the flagging option the more we can see where it needs improving.

EDIT - Also forgot to mention we are fully aware of the recent spamming going on and are fully aware as to how annoying you all find it. But there isn't much we can do to deal with it until after someone has spammed the boards. We aren't psychic, we cannot predict when someone is going to spam like crazy and flood topics with all sorts of dubious pictures. So please be patient and understand, we try our best to respond as quickly and effectively as possible.
