@psoplayer: That's the rule. It's the same reason the Crono page doesn't have a Brono alias.

But "Brono" is an actual "joke"-alias while Sleepy Dogs started as a joke somewhere but has since become pretty common on the internet. It is basically a real world alias. Something like Brono is also GB-specific. Sleepy Dogs is a general term that has been used in multiple places around the internets. It serves the same function as an initialism like TLOU or DKCR or NSMBU.

@def: I haven't heard it outside the context of Giant Bomb. And a joke is still a joke.

@hailinel: do a quick search for "sleepy dogs"+game and you'll see it's not just a GB thing. I've heard the term used on pretty much every podcast that talked about the game in my rotation, too.

at some point the community usage should trump the origin of the term, especially when it's just a simple abbreviation putting a humorous twist on the original name instead of a flat out joke.

#555 Posted by Hailinel (23928 posts) -

@def: How many people actually search for the game by that title? Aliases are meant tassist search results, not compile cute nicknames.

@hailinel: Somebody on the back-end of the site could probably look up search history and figure that out. A list of commonly used search terms that the user doesn't pick one of the results (or has no results) sounds like something that would be worthwhile for maintaining aliases.

I don't know what this sentence is trying to say.

What I do know is that Sleepy Dogs, or Sleepy Dawgs, or whatever, while amusing, is a goofy nickname and not worth an alias. If it was, it would have almost certainly been added by now.

Please change Nora and the Time Studio's main title to "Nora to Toki no Koubou: Kiri no Mori no Majo" and have "Nora and the Time Studio: The Witch of the Misty Forest" be an Alias. Also please delete this duplicate page, thank you!

Done up to here.

And no, Sleepy Dogs isn't a good alias.

Alias: Major League Baseball 2K6 -> MLB 2K6

Forgot about the formatting we use for Soulcalibur, and added the recent game incorrectly.

Rename: Soul Calibur II HD Online -> Soulcalibur II HD Online

Aliases: Soul Calibur II HD Online, Soulcalibur 2 HD Online, Soul Calibu 2 HD online, SCII HD Online & SC2 HD Online

Might as well keep all Soulcalibur aliases in line;

Alias: Soulcalibur IV -> SCIV

The name Rie should be added as an alias to the Lilith page, since she disguises herself as a girl named Rie in the original Shin Megami Tensei.

"Final Fantasy 6" should be an alias for Final Fantasy VI, since there is already an alias for "FF6" and "Final Fantasy 3."

Please change main title to the following pages:

Page 1 change to "The Legend of Heroes III: Shiroki Majo" and the aliases should be: "The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch" and "The Legend of Heroes III: The White Witch."

Page 2 change to "The Legend of Heroes IV: Akai Shizuku" and the aliases should be: "The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion" and "The Legend of Heroes IV: Tear of Vermillion."

Page 3 change to "The Legend of Heroes V: Umi no Oriuta" and the aliases should be: "The Legend of Heroes III: Song of the Ocean" and "The Legend of Heroes V: Cagesong of the Ocean."

Thank you!

@lentfilms: None of those pages should be renamed. They all use the official English language titles.

@lentfilms: Your requests are rejected as the current titles are the official names for the English releases of those games and those have precedent over other spellings.

All other requests up to this point have been processed.

Cyberball 2072 > Tournament Cyberball 2072

Cyberball 2072 was the name given to original Cyberball cabinets which received the piggyback upgrade board. Tournament Cyberball 2072 was built as a dual-monitor cabinet with each side supporting two players. The Arcade Museum verifies this.
