@gaspower: @shikon: The timing is up to the players and their opponents. People will reach out to each other once the brackets are set, and find times that fit their schedules. The only real set-in-stone time is that let's say the top 8 must be decided by Sunday; that way, if I can figure out how to stream things out I can.

Alright kiddos! (ignore that). We are just a few days away from the beginning of the Divekick tournaments! Here is a quick update as to what is going on, and what to expect.

On August 20th at 5pm EST, submissions will be closed. I will be compiling to brackets on Challonge! and posting it up by midnight EST. Everyone will need to get in contact with their first round opponents to set up a time to begin.

The tournament itself will begin Friday, August 23rd. Everyone's first rounds should be completed by the end of the day, but of course there will be understanding if that is difficult. The only true deadline is Top 8 MUST be reached by 5pm EST Sunday, August 25th. That way, all territories can participate without too much fear of staying up past their bedtimes to complete the bracket.

Man, limiting it to 3 days is super tight. I can't imagine how I'll have time to play any games on Saturday and Sunday unless people are up so early or super late. Not fun at all. But oh well. :/

I just have one more question.. I am terrible at steam, to contact my opponents do I have to add everyone to my steams friends list? Or can you message people without adding them to friends?

I think it would help to emphasize that since the PS3 tournament is the bigger one and will be run to a much more strict predefined schedule by FluxWaveZ, this one is more flexible and is looser. I was initially sweating it when I saw how the PS3 tournament was going to go down knowing I was signed up for both but now I can breath easy knowing it's all good.

In a way it's a great way to fill the gaps for players who would otherwise have finished their bracket match for PS3 but can continue with PC. That and as I said, takes the edge off for players who are in both or can't make the PS3 schedule but still can play at other times on PC. Looking forward to it! Hoping that between both I get to play at least one EVO player :D.

I'm going to forfeit from the Steam tournament, it looks like Divekick won't work very well for on Windows XP (Vista is the minimum OS requirement) so I'll just buy the PSN version for now.

@oursin_360: Sadly, there are no lobbies so it will all be one-on-one matchups. From there, its up to players if they want to record and post their matches.

Its worth noting, everyone, that this is a SUPER RELAXED EVENT. We have no prizes, no rewards. Just Divekicking glory on the line. The schedule is super floaty- because we have nothing to give away, things can go as they go. I do want it to only last this weekend, though, which is why I recommended Top 8 to happen around Sunday evening. From there, its all up to the players to let me know who wins...and who dies. I will be updating the bracket regularly all weekend to make sure everyone is kept up to date.

By the way, I am in the middle of moving, so the bracket will be a little bit later. Probably tomorrow afternoon. So get your friends!

Are you sure there is no lobbies? When I was playing this afternoon there was an option for a private and public lobby
