Haven't watched a single one and don't plan to. It just seems like an excuse to feed his addiction.

Exactly.

I love it!

There is no such thing as too much DOTA

#5 Edited by DeeGee (2096 posts) -

It's great. I don't see how anyone could complain that Brad is producing daily, hour long plus videos for the site.

#6 Posted by MentalDisruption (1618 posts) -

I'm alright with it. I don't particularly like playing moba's, so it's a decent way for me to partake in something I wouldn't otherwise care about.

#7 Edited by vorpalparasite (259 posts) -

I have no interest in it. It's cool that people who enjoy it have something to watch, I am envious.

#8 Posted by Fallen189 (4921 posts) -

It's ok, but I find Pascual to be very needy and he puts me off

#9 Posted by paulwade1984 (477 posts) -

Its great. Those guys are so god damned funny. It's Gank central and not high level play. Its just good fun to watch. Guys playing games and having fun. The way it should it be.

#10 Posted by CaLe (3678 posts) -

I just hope they aren't doing this instead of something that more users would be interested in seeing every single day. This seems very narrowly focused. If it's just something extra then good for those who enjoy it, I guess.

It's some decent background noise.

I think it's fantastic!

#13 Posted by oneidwille (146 posts) -

I like that they are producing content, fucking DAILY. I wish I could get it up for a MOBA...

#14 Posted by RecSpec (3681 posts) -

I don't watch it because I don't care about Dota, but I'm glad it's there for those who enjoy it.

#15 Edited by thebunnyhunter (1213 posts) -

I don't watch it, but i'm probably bitter that he basically dismisses LOL (which i prefer). If Brad keeps doing this for a while i wont mind (some people must watch and enjoy it) as long as it doesn't prohibit other content.

#16 Edited by McGhee (6091 posts) -

I don't give a shit about DOTA but is is something to put on the background when I'm doing other things.

#17 Posted by mnzy (2909 posts) -

I think dota is fucking boring and he can't help with that either.

#18 Posted by Petiew (1279 posts) -

I don't watch it, just don't find those kind of games entertaining to watch.

#19 Posted by OllyOxenFree (4969 posts) -

Not for me. I have absolutely no interest in DOTA or MOBAs in general.

#20 Posted by Warchief (646 posts) -

at least for me its some of the best content on the site right now. #bigplays

#21 Edited by Hector (3346 posts) -

Haven't seen one. I think resources should be used for something else.

#22 Edited by Marokai (2637 posts) -

I think it served a good purpose at first in providing some random new content in an otherwise dry time, but at this point I just feel like it's wasting time. It's cool hearing Kessler again in any capacity, but in general I'm actually growing legitimately more bothered by how much time Brad spends on DOTA at the exclusion of other content features he could be in instead. Bradley May Cry should've been finished by now, and we're ripe for a new Breaking Brad feature.

Seeing him spend an hour or two almost every day playing DOTA seems like a colossal missed opportunity, and I can't imagine the feature is growing on people the more time is spent on it, to be honest. With Dave gone, Rorie not being included in nearly enough content, and Patrick moving away in less than a month, it seems irresponsibly self indulgent not to diversify into other features at some point for the sake of content production.

I think Brad needs to spend more time explaining whats happening during the streams, as someone who hasn't played a MOBA before, which I think is a group that a lot of giant bomb users are a member of, it took me about 5 episodes to understand what ganking is, never mind some of the more esoteric strategies or the uses of the hundreds of items in the game. If he could explain what he is doing a little more, which granted is probably hard to do while playing, it would be a really great way for people to get into DotA.

#24 Edited by Kidavenger (3380 posts) -

I'd prefer more quicklooks of other special features, but if daily dota is just extra content and not taking away from anything else, it's cool.

#25 Edited by Kidable (124 posts) -

I don't watch it, but recognize that MOBA is a thriving community that live for the kinda stuff like Daily Dota's and Brad is actually doing a great service by getting industry peeps together to make it interesting. And also, I recognize that just because I am a gamer and a fan of this site doesn't mean that I am forced to watch every single piece of content on it, especially ones that aren't really made for people like me. Not all gamers need to like all games.

#26 Posted by EXTomar (4125 posts) -

I think it is a lot of fun where my only lament is that the archived show is Premium.

#27 Edited by DonPixel (2585 posts) -

Its kinda mhee for me because:

1 - if you looking for big plays or pro content, there is actual pro tournaments going on twitch for free all the time for both LOL and DOTA 2

2 - If you looking for the usual Giantbomb charm and personality, you wont get it as they are focus on the game.. so its like watching regular dudes playing, who cares if they work in a studio or whatever...

its the equivalent of watching ESPN commentators playing a match of basketball in their courtyard.. like I rather watch the NBA match.

Watch it on twitch.

Anyway I don't watch it. MOBA's are boring games in my opinion. And they are rivaled only by multiplayer shooters in terms of how boring they are to watch.

#29 Edited by Jachin (36 posts) -

I don't care for MOBAs, so I don't watch it. Even if I did, I still would think that daily streams are overkill (plus isn't there a million other places for this?) As has been said, I wish the effort would go into something different, but I'm in no position to demand more free content.

#30 Edited by Superkenon (1191 posts) -

I've barely watched any of them, but they're fun. The only reason I'm way behind on them is because they've been putting up so many other videos. Heck, I'm even behind on Quick Looks. Point is, the other content seems to be flowing as usual (actually, the rate is up), so it's not actually taking away from other videos, and just goes up as an entertaining little (well, long) extra among it all.

Also, following the arc of Brad's obsession is all sorts of hilarious.

#31 Edited by Dick_Mohawk (368 posts) -

I just haven't had the time to watch it unfortunately, just got too much on right now, but if others are enjoying it and Brad's enjoying himself then that's great. No harm no foul. :)

#32 Edited by psylah (2153 posts) -

Don't give a shit about DOTA2.

LoL is where it's at.

#33 Edited by ElixirBronze (356 posts) -

Tried watching it on multiple occasions and it just bored me to tears every time.

Also that 65% of the people either thinks it's bad or don't watch it is kind of telling.

#34 Posted by TheUnsavedHero (1255 posts) -

I like watching it. Never want to play it. I'm just waiting for the video where they all perform group suicide for a Legendary Key or something. (I have no clue what I'm even saying.)

#35 Posted by MiniPato (2657 posts) -

I don't watch it at all and I can only hope it will fade away once E3 has come and gone.

Exactly. Daily Dota just feels like something they threw out there to go "hey we've got tons of content! Welcome to Giantbombdotacom!" It just feels like lazy output. And before anyone says "yeah well you can say the same about quick looks and endurance runs!" You get variety with quick looks and endurance runs have an end goal. I don't see what the end goal is with Daily Dota. It's just a boring Daily TNT and I barely even watch TNT unless they are playing with eachother. There are plenty of smaller releases out there and yet they choose to pump the site full of DOTA videos.

#36 Edited by Azurath (273 posts) -

I am really into Dota (although still new to it) but have only watched 2 of them.

The problem I have with it is that it is literally like spectating a friend's game. There are no crazy, over the top plays because Brad is only mediocre at the game, and there is no comedic chemistry between Brad and his team.

If it was the Bomb Squad playing, it would at least be funny, but the whole thing feels like a few nobodies (EDIT: I mean "nobodies" as in they aren't pro, not that they aren't cool or anything) playing Dota over Skype, and that's what it is.....

On top of that, the chat is fucking atrocious. "hurrr #BIGPLAYS hurrr!"

#37 Posted by Sin4profit (2870 posts) -

i watched it twice, as someone who doesn't know anything about DOTA or MOBAs it's not entertaining for me and it wasn't educational enough to motivate me into checking out the genre.

I like Dota and I like Brad so I like Daily Dota.

Plus watching Brad flail about makes me feel better about my Dota skills.

#39 Posted by kerse (2039 posts) -

Its great for those who like it, but I really don't like mobas so I have watched it like once.

#40 Posted by cutyoface (525 posts) -

I have absolutely no interest in watching it.

#41 Posted by Hamst3r (4343 posts) -

I watched one of the DOTA videos for a few minutes. I was not into it.

I agree on the BMC and Breaking Brad point. I wonder if he'll still know how to play DMC if he'll ever gets around to doing another BMC, it's kind of a demanding game.

#43 Posted by Snail (8470 posts) -

Eh, it's there. It's not like it's replacing any sort of content that would go up in its stead, so I guess let it happen for those that enjoy it.

#44 Posted by pyromagnestir (3962 posts) -

I'm pro Brad playing tough or tricky games while being video'd and watching what happens. On top of that, there are many guests (Kessler! Pascual! Brad Muir! and more!), as well as the potential combustive element that is random internet people in the mix, and it's a competitive game which is heavily dependent on skillful team and individual play that Brad is still only learning, and it all happens live, Live, LIVE! so anything can happen!

Also Dota's pretty cool.

#45 Edited by ShaggE (5987 posts) -

It's by far the best Dota content Brad has done for this site.

#46 Edited by MiniPato (2657 posts) -

and it all happens live, Live, LIVE! so anything can happen!

They barely edit out anything in their non-live videos anyways so that points kinda moot. Or does Brad blurt our racial and anti-gay slurs every now and then?

#47 Posted by Reisz (1359 posts) -

Dota isn't for me but if people get enjoyment out of it, more Daily Dota!

#48 Edited by pyromagnestir (3962 posts) -

@minipato:

I'm more thinking of the random internet peoples and their potential to be horrible human beings, which, if it occurs, could be quite entertaining. Brad's probably not going to do anything too out of character, I'd guess.

#49 Edited by tourgen (4238 posts) -

Love it, it's great. The people he is playing with are fun. Watching the games turn or them have a tight team fight is pretty entertaining. I'm not a big MOBA fan but hey I wasn't a Persona or SWERY fan either once upon a time.

anyway. now I have DOTA2 installed am I've played a handful bot co-op bot matches. It's fun.

#50 Posted by Ben_H (3203 posts) -

I don't like watching DOTA (I don't mind playing it though) so I ended up only watching about 20 minutes of one episode. I don't think it is good content.

My bias may be showing through, but I think daily Starcraft would be better because at least it would make sense to more people. Watching MOBAs or DOTA without knowing what is going on is like watching paint dry, so it is only fun to those who actively play it. The audience that watches Starcraft is as large or larger than the audience that plays it for this exact reason, you don't have to devote hours to just learning what each thing is to enjoy it. You can learn it as you go (plus most of it is really straight forward. Marines are basic units with guns. Tanks have range and splash damage but need support. It's not like having to learn the difference in all different kinds of boots or something in DOTA). That is why Starcraft tournaments get numbers of viewers that are so big. Plus there is way more going on and each game isn't 45 minutes.
