For e3 2016 Giant bomb should send two people and one robot.

No Caption Provided

This is what Giant Bomb should send to e3 in teh next year. Send this robot with two handlers, the guys at the studio in San Francisco take turns interviewing people on the floor. The camera on the robot takes show floor pictures, and of course it is SUPER newsworthy if Giant Bomb is at the show with a Doubletelepresence robot.

Dear Giant Bomb

I would support a Kick Starter to buy you a telepresence robot to send to shows. It would be fun, yet in some way it would also be sort of logical. You guys should not be at the show with tons of people and equipment, you should be at the show with a robot and two handlers. So, in fact lets think big and do this right so you could really cover a show with a robot. Let's say you need $10,000: two robots, two travel accessory kits, four iPads, and added tools and spare parts for quick repairs. In less than a day, you could raise that sort of money. And, you could use the telepresence robot around the office too. You could use it to have special guests on your video shows.

"...Richard Garriott, Portalarium's CEO & private astronaut, uses the Double almost every day to communicate with his team. From his home in New York, Garriott will call into his Double first thing in the morning and stay logged into his robot throughout the day. "It's so close to being there, that we often forget if for certain meetings if I was present physically or 'tele-robotically'," says Garriott. Executive Producer, Starr Long, believes that Double is the best solution for them. "It would be impossible to do our projects without something like the Double."

So how are they supposed to play demos and get hands on time if they're there in robot form?

They play these games at other events. That is a big issue, they have already SEEN many of these games and the ones they play they have likely already played at private media only events. The choice isn't if they don't go they never play that game hands on, it that if they do go that e3 hands on might not even be their first or last touch of teh game before launch. When Jeff talks about not going to e3 he isn't saying "Well at least I get hands-on", no he says well that was a waste of time to see the same thing I saw a month ago or will see a month later.

It comes down to WHAT e3 offers GB, and from the way Jeff, Brad, Drew, Alex, and Vinny talk, it really is not the only hands-on or even the best they could get with a game.

Didn't the guy who invented Segway die in a Segway accident? Drove it off a cliff? Or was that an Onion article.

@rachelepithet: one of the founders or board member not the inventor, still ironic

I'm getting a deja vu from some movie or TV show regarding that abominable device.

That is where we take this to the next level with a deep and philosophical commentary on video games. "Do you really even play games anymore, man? Now they all just hold your hand. I could just send a robot to E3 and get the same experience bro!"

I would be incredibly psyched to see this happen once, for the laughs. Long term I don't think it would be advantageous.

If Snowden can show up to TED on a fucking roomba, Giant Bomb has just as much legitimacy in showing on an ipad/segway combo.

If e3 really wanted serious professionals to STILL show up they needed to kick out the people who don't belong there long ago. I cannot think of a better place to have a robot than e3 - No need to smell the unwashed masses on a show floor anymore.

- Working at GameStop as store manager, shouldn't have been good enough.
- Small time tech bloggers, shouldn't have been good enough.
- Being the kid of some celebrity like Jaden Smith, shouldn't have been good enough.
- Some smelly socially inept person who makes very cheap smartphones games in their basement...shouldn't have been good enough.

The people who put on e3 made e3 a mess for professionals. Now serious professional are really wondering "why bother for all sort of reasons?

Maybe, If the show wasn't full of too many smelly idiots, strange crowds, and cos-players blocking aisles that might be one thing, but they still allow that...so they make it a bigger mess. When you can watch the conferences easier from the office and when you can download all the trailers too - what is the point of hotels, badges, lugging equipment, etc?

The amount of support I have for this idea is only measurable in Megatons per square inch.

It's eight billion of those.

That would make for an interesting after hours show to say the least, all the guests should be robots too though, it would be pretty surreal watching 6 to 8 of these things on camera with each of the operators getting progressively more and more drunk.
