Jeff's game face was pretty good but I thought it would be interesting to see what the community makes. Fumbling through EA's website is definitely a hassle but I was able to make something simple from a picture I took from google.

I don't know. That's pretty great.

I tried to do an anime character (i figured since a cat worked Chie would) but it just spit out errors, and when I just tried a picture of a dude the eyebrows were smeared and his cheeks were chubbier.

OH GOD! Why would you do that?!

I thoroughly approve.

I made Kenshiro, which other than the weird ass face texture (the only straight on shot I could find had intense shading), worked pretty damn well. Didn't recognize the eyebrows or bangs as hair though.

The Game Face technology has a huge potential to turn out some really creepy and scary shit. I approve.

@corruptedevil: That looks like an elf from the The Elder Scrolls franchise.

Literally how many butts, boobs and penis faces are going to be made with this thing?

Not enough. Never enough.

@dudeglove: It doesn't work unless it can detect what "age" the person in the image is, so I doubt that will be a prevalent enough problem.

Still waiting for someone to do a Shaquille O'Neal Face in UFC.

@corruptedevil: Best use of this technology. Someone needs to put in pixelated Little Mac (or 3D, but NES Mac would be better).

@theht: It's very picky about what it will accept, otherwise I would have made every Kamen Rider already.

I never knew King from Tekken got his start in the UFC. He was so young then...

So what you are saying is that VGCW needs to get on the Game Face tech.

@nasp: What? It's perfect.

Actually it reminds me of an Oblivion style face. Something like a cross between a Bosmer and a Redguard.

It's official, video games are art.

So far the more ridiculous stuff hasn't worked out very well for me. First thing I did was my avatar, and I was surprised at how easy it worked, but it turned out this wouldn't continue to be the case.

Then I tried the Quick Look suggestion of a basketball, but couldn't get it to go. I also tried using a Kamen Rider figurine with both a front and profile view, but it still wasn't interested. Lastly I tried to map in Hatsune Miku, which sort of worked, but, well... the result speaks for itself.

I'll probably mess around more with this later though, it's fun to see what it spits out.

Edit 1: Trying for some normal faces, I went with singers Annie Clark (St. Vincent) and Radiohead's Thom Yorke. It certainly seems like good side-views would go a long way.

#28 Edited by Corevi (5890 posts) -

@winsord: In my experiments I've found it won't accept anything without easily identifiable eyes, so anything with a mask like a Kamen Rider (literally Masked Rider) doesn't work.

We need an entire game of Game Face nightmares. Imagine UFC Champion Cat Guy chasing you through an asylum? Real horror.

@linkachu95: Goku looks like Anime Jeff, it's pretty funny.

I made mine, put a background on it, and put it up as my Facebook profile picture. Thinking of trying it out with a troll face or rage face.

I want EA to integrate this stuff into future Bioware games. That would be entertaining.

I need more games that allow this just to creep out my friends. Meet Mr Happy:

Please observe his painted mouth below his actual mouth.

His proportions are a little ... off. Still, if it means I can scare the shit out of my friends with happy nazi rainbow bearded clown people from hell then I'm all for it.

#44 Posted by Corvak (1174 posts) -

Before: why the hell doesnt EA just to face scanning with cameras/kinect?

Now: So happy EA doesnt just do face scanning with cameras/kinect.

God! These nightmare amalgamations are so funny that it would be a travesty to treat them like flaws in the system and try to fix it.
