I noticed that when people post a blog, it seems to be posted as a thread in the forums. If I do not type in anything I think is relevant will it not post it in the forums?
You don't have to attach blogs to forums if you don't want to. After submitting the blog, the option to attatch it to the forums appears. If you don't want it to be attached to the forums, simply navigate away from the page. The blog has already been created and will appear on your profile's blog page.
It's one of the many confusing and unclear things this site has going on, but the blog was indeed submitted when you told it to submit. You don't have to attach it to anything, but keep in mind that if you don't attach it to anything after creation you won't be able to ever.
