Something I notice on almost any Wiki page is very sloppy images. Not the quality, we have moderation for that, but other things.

  • Duplicate images
  • No captions
  • Not organised in to appropriate galleries
  • Bad default images

Do other people consider this a problem? What can be done about it? Even something as simple as going through your favourite pages and cleaning them up might be a start.

Whenever I come across a page with duplicate images or images that don't belong to said page I delete them.....no captions isn't a big deal IMO.....and sometimes its hard to find a good default image, especially for concepts, but I change them if they're exceptionally bad.

the Phantasmagoria 2 page is a good example of this, someone just uploaded a capture of a play through.

If I recall correctly, @MattBodega started out the same way. And he turned out okay, I guess.

Mrfluke did this as well and had all his wiki points taken from the pages.

What's funny is that the staff occasionally tend to contribute towards the duplicate image problem. I've often spotted them dumping a lot of images--usually when a new set has been publicly released by the developer/publisher--even when that same image set has already been posted by a user.

Any time I come across duplicate or way too similar images I delete them. I also tend to come across watermarked images, which I also delete.

Somebody did something similar to a few of my phoenix wright pages, by uploading every single frame of animation for a sprite.

The guy who did it has uploaded a lot of other images for other parts of the Wiki, most of them are fine, although just being googled. But It looks like he also did it with Halo 3:ODST. He added the Phoenix Write pictures around the end of last year, and hasn't done anything like it since.

  • Bad default images

I'm using Chrome and I've never been able to change the default image of a page even though I should have enough mod points to do so. Is there some sort of dark ritual that must be invoked?
